Transmittinga Calorias 7 Position data transMissSi0ON cccooncccnoccccnnncncnnncnnnncnnnnos 9 Status message transmission 9 O aan 10 Printer CONNGGUON 6 i n 10 PREPARATION Programmable function keys The following functions can be assigned to UP DOWN PO P1 P2 and P3 programmable function keys Consult your Icom dealer or system operator for details con cerning your transceiver s programming the programmable function names are bracketed in the fol lowing explanations the specific key is used to activate the function For dPMR operation The following key functions are required for the operation dPMR BUTTON gt Push to enter the ID selection mode e Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired Individual or Talkgroup ID While in the ID selection mode push to enter the application selection mode e Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired application from STAT and MSG Push to enter the message selection mode Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired message While in the application selection mode push to return to the stand by mode CLEAR After communication is finished push this key to send a Dis connect signal to terminate the connection 4 Depending on the preprogrammed settings the Priority A Y channel is automatically selected after a Disconnect sig 22 nal terminates a

TX Code Enter to enter the ID edit mode e The digit to be edited blinks 2 Push TX Code Enter to select a desired digit to be ed ited 3 Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired number 4 Push TX Code Enter to set The digit to the right will automatically blink 5 Repeat step 3 and 4 to input all allowable digits 6 After editing push TX Code Enter to store the set ting e The transceiver returns to the stand by mode 2 NOTE 4 Changing the channel or turning OFF the transceiver discards the new ID and returns the original one gt lt Transmitting an SDM You can send a preprogrammed SDM to an individual sta tion or to group stations The transceiver has 10 memories to store messages 1 Push dPMR Button to enter the ID selection mode e The preprogrammed ID is displayed 2 Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired Individual ID or Talkgroup ID e The IDs can be edited within the allowable digits See page 7 for details 3 Push dPMR Button again to enter the application selec tion mode e STAT is displayed 4 Push CH Up or CH Down to select MSG 5 Push dPMR Button again to enter the SDM selection mode e The preprogrammed SDM is displayed 6 Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired SDM 7 Push Call to transmit the SDM to the selected station or talkgroup e WAIT is displayed while transmitting e OK is displayed when an ac
4. call are stored 1 Push dPMR Button twice to enter the application selec tion mode 2 Push CH Up or CH Down to select CALL LOG 3 Push dPMR Button again to display the call log informa tion When log information is displayed The calling station ID name appears When there is no log information N Ya MIT II uU LL 4 Push CH Up or CH Down to select the desired call 6 Hold down PTT to send a voice call e voice call can be made with the logged station dPMR OPERATION 2 O Talk back function The Talk Back function allows you to select the same call mode Analog or Digital as the received call If the received call is a digital signal the Talk Back function is activated for Voice and Emergency calls and depending on the preprogrammed settings also for status messages and SDM When the channel type is Mixed Digital After receiving an analog signal ANALOG is displayed during the Talk Back timer period depending on the prepro grammed settings When PTT is pushed before or during the Talk Back timer period you can transmit an analog signal When the channel type is Mixed Analog Mixed Digital or Digital After receiving a digital signal the calling station s ID or the Talkgroup ID is displayed until receiving a Disconnect sig nal depending on the preprogrammed settings Even on a Mixed Analog channel when PTT is pus
5. connection SS dPMR operations The following key functions are useful for the dPMR opera tion STATUS UP STATUS DOWN Push to select a status message When the automatic scroll function is activated push to cancel it if desired When an SDM that includes more than 8 characters is dis played push to manually scroll the message STATUS Push to enter the status message selection mode Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired message Hold down for 1 second to transmit the last selected status message MESSAGE Push to enter the SDM selection mode e Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired SDM w While in the SDM selection mode hold down for 1 second to transmit the last selected SDM PREPARATION 1 Additional key functions e dPMR operations The following key functions are recommended for the dPMR operation and function as described below CALL On a digital channel push to transmit a dPMR call Z Depending on the preprogrammed settings pushing PTT makes a call in the same way as using Call Moreover when you keep holding down PTT after receiving an ac knowledgement you can start a conversation without pushing it again RNY TX CODE ENTER Push to enter the ID code edit mode and then set a desired ID code p 7 MONITOR AUDIBLE After communication is finished push this key to send a Clear down signal to terminate the connection Y Depending on t

9. hed before re ceiving a Disconnect signal the Talk Back function allows the transceiver to transmit a digital signal to the ID NOTE When this function is not activated the transceiver always transmits analog signals on Mixed Analog chan nels and digital signals on Mixed Digital channels e On these channels the transceiver can receive both analog and digital signals regardless of the Talk Back function MA YA dPMR OPERATION Transmitting a call dPMR operation allows you to make a call to a specific station Individual call or to a specific group Talkgroup call Other digital mode transceivers on the channel will not hear a call that does not match their Individual or Talkgroup ID Transmitting a Voice Call D Push dPMR Button to enter the ID selection mode e The preprogrammed ID name is displayed e When an ID name is not programmed ID code is displayed e The primary ID can be preset to display first 2 Push CH Up or CH Down to select a desired Individual ID or Talkgroup ID e The IDs can be edited within the allowable digits See the column to the right for details Ting ALI This illustration shows an Individual type call 3 Hold down PTT then speak into the microphone 4 Release PTT to receive e Editing an ID If the transceiver has a key assigned to the TX Code Enter function you can edit an ID within the allowable digits 1 Push
10. knowledgement is received e FAILED is displayed when no acknowledgment is received After a specified time period the transceiver will return to the stand by mode dPMR OPERATION 2 Transmitting an Emergency Call When Emergency described in the instruction manual is held down for the specified time period the emergency signal is trans mitted once or repeatedly on the emergency channel When no emergency channel is specified the signal is transmitted on the operating channel When the Repeat Cancel function is ON the transceiver cancels repeat calling after receiving an acknowledgement When the Repeat Cancel function is OFF the transceiver continues to call according to the number of repeat cycles even after receiv ing an acknowledgement Individual or Talkgroup call types of emergency calls can be preset If the call type is not preset the default or selected call type is used you want to cancel the emergency call hold down Emergency again before transmitting the call The emergency call can be transmitted without sounding beeps or changing the LCD display depending on the pre programming Silent operation The transceiver can also be programmed to keep the micro phone open during an emergency call allowing other stations to monitor the situation Ask your dealer for details dPMR OPERATION IMPORTANT Setting an individual emergency channel is recommended for dependable emerg

12. programming transceiver 2 can ignore the Stun Revive and Kill commande that are Z from a non specified station SS Receiving a Status Polling call If a Status Polling call is received the transceiver will auto matically transmit its current status gt Receiving an Ambience Listening call If an Individual call with an Ambience Listening command is received from a specified station the transceiver will auto matically transmit its microphone audio e The HM 148G or HM 152 152T HAND MICROPHONE is required 47 NOTE If the transceiver receives an Ambience Listening command from a station other than the specified one the call will be ignored and the transceiver will not transmit its microphone audio MOQ A gt Receiving an Emergency call 1 When an emergency call is received Beeps sound e The state of the backlight depends on the Backlight setting in the User Set mode When LIGT AUT is selected the backlight turns ON for the preprogrammed time period Auto Backlight Timer 2 To clear the beep ID and message display turn OFF the power or change the channel O Displaying the received call log activated the log stores received calls into the transceiver s memory Up to 10 calls can be stored and the oldest call record 15 erased when an 11th call is received However once the trans ceiver is turned OFF the log is erased The Individual voice call Status call and Message
