D Connettore per l alimentazione E Connettore per il collegamento all UPS NOTA 1 led normalmente accesi lampeggiano ad intervalli irregolari ad indicare 11 flusso di dati lungo la linea 6 ITALIANO INSTALLAZIONE APERTURA DELL IMBALLO E VERIFICA DEL SUO CONTENUTO Dopo l apertura dell imballo per prima cosa procedere alla verifica del contenuto L imballo dovra contenere a MultiCOM 351 a MultiCOM 352 a Alimentatore esterno a Cavo seriale DB9 DB9 Y 12V D C 0 3A YY Y a Cavo seriale RJ45 DB9 a Floppy disk Solo per MultiCOM 351 0 Tipo cavo null modem Da utilizzare per il collegamento della porta SERIAL 1 lunghezza cavo 2 m 6 Da utilizzare per il collegamento della porta SERIAL 2 lunghezza cavo 2 m ITALIANO 7 INSTALLAZIONE IMPOSTAZIONE VELOCITA DI TRASMISSIONE La velocita di trasmissione di SERIAL 1 e SERIAL 2 deve essere uguale a quella impostata sull UPS Il dispositivo supporta due velocita 1200 e 9600 baud selezionabili agendo sul dip switch 8 come indicato nella tabella seguente Disposizione Dip Switch 9600 baud valore di default 1200 baud NOTA 1 Per MultiCOM 351 necessario scollegare il connettore di alimentazione i cavi seriali togliere le quattro viti poste nella parte inferiore del dispositivo e sfilare l avvolgente per agire sui dip switch NOTA 2 Se la velocit di trasmissione viene impostat

TECNICI 11 SEGNALI SUI CONNETTORI 11 ITALIANO 5 PRESENTAZIONE I duplicatore di seriale MultiCOM 351 352 un dispositivo che rende disponibili all utente due porte seriali indipendenti SERIAL1 e SERIAL2 per il monitoraggio dell UPS utilizzando un unica porta seriale dello stesso L accessorio compatibile con gli UPS che utilizzano 1 protocolli di comunicazione SENTR GPSER e HTSER PRTK SENTRI GPSERI HTSERI HTSER2 HTSER4 MultiCOM 351 un accessorio esterno all UPS da collegare ad esso tramite cavo seriale MultiCOM 352 una scheda di espansione da inserire nello slot dell UPS per i modelli che lo supportano come indicato nella figura sottostante Le funzionalit dei due prodotti sono le medesime e quanto descritto in questo manuale vale per entrambi 1 prodotti ove non diversamente specificato Per gli UPS che utilizzano il protocollo SENTR possibile collegare al MultiCOM un modem per il servizio di teleassistenza In questo caso il modem deve essere collegato alla porta SERIALI mentre SERIAL2 pu essere utilizzata per l interrogazione dell UPS e il MultiCOM deve essere collegato ad una porta dell UPS abilitata alla gestione del modem MultiCOM 351 MultiCOM 352 l A a UPS if K l a l A Porta SERIAL 2 B LED di segnalazione e VERDE attivit linea seriale SERIAL 1 e GIALLO attivita linea seriale SERIAL 2 C Porta SERIAL 1
6. a a 1200 baud si consiglia di utilizzare un intervallo di tempo di almeno 2 secondi tra due interrogazioni successive all UPS sulla medesima linea seriale 8 ITALIANO INSTALLAZIONE CONFIGURAZIONE PONTICELLI CHIUSO APERTO NON MONTATO pin Jumper a 2 pin JP1 JP9 esempio grafico delle varie possibilita di settaggio INSTALLAZIONE MuLTICOM 351 1 Collegare la porta UPS SERIAL del dispositivo alla porta seriale dell UPS utilizzando il cavo in dotazione all UPS 2 Collegare il cavo seriale null modem DB9 DB9 alla porta SERIAL 1 NOTA nel caso di utilizzo di un modem solo per UPS SENTR collegare il cavo in dotazione allo stesso alla porta SERIAL 1 3 Collegare il cavo seriale DB9 RJ45 alla porta SERIAL 2 4 Collegare l alimentatore al dispositivo NOTA l alimentatore deve essere collegato ad una presa protetta da UPS ITALIANO 9 INSTALLAZIONE INSTALLAZIONE MULTICOM 352 1 Se PUPS dotato del by pass per manutenzione e non si vuole interrompere l alimentazione del carico attivarlo seguendo le indicazioni riportate sul manuale d uso dell UPS Spegnere l UPS Rimuovere il coperchio dello slot di espansione togliendo le due viti di fissaggio Togliere la parte centrale del coperchio togliendo i punti di unione Inserire MultiCOM 352 nello slot Rimontare il coperchio fissando le due viti Collegare il cavo seriale
7. ble RJ45 DB9 a Floppy disk For MultiCOM 351 only Cable type null modem To be used for connection of the SERIAL 1 port cable length 2 m To be used for connection of the SERIAL 2 port cable length 2 m ENGLISH 17 INSTALLATION SETTING THE DATA TRANSMISSION SPEED The SERIAL 1 and SERIAL 2 transmission speed must be the same as that set on the UPS The device supports two speeds 1200 and 9600 baud these are selected by setting the DIP switch no 8 as indicated in the table that follows DIP Switch Setting 9600 baud default value 1200 baud NOTE 1 For MultiCOM 351 the power supply connector and the serial cables must be disconnected take out the four screws on the bottom of the device and remove the wrap around tape for access to the DIP switches NOTE 2 If the transmission speed is set to 1200 baud you are recommended to set a time interval of at least 2 seconds between two successive pollings of the UPS on the same serial line 18 ENGLISH INSTALLATION CONFIGURING THE JUMPERS CLOSED OPEN NOT FITTED Jumper with 2 pins JP1 JP9 graphic example of the various setting possibilities INSTALLATION OF MULTICOM 351 1 Connect the UPS SERIAL port of the device to the UPS serial port using the cable provided with the UPS 2 Connect the null modem serial cable DB9 DB9 to the SERIAL 1 port NOTE if using a modem only for UPS SENTR con
8. nect the cable provided with the modem to the SERIAL 1 port 3 Connect the DB9 RJ45 serial cable to the SERIAL 2 port 4 Connect the power supply to the device NOTE the power supply must be connected to an outlet protected by UPS ENGLISH 19 INSTALLATION INSTALLATION OF MULTICOM 352 1 If the UPS is provided with the maintenance by pass and supply of power to the load must not be interrupted activate it by following the instructions in the UPS user s manual Switch off the UPS Take the cover off the expansion slot by removing the two securing screws Take off the central part of the cover by removing the junction points Insert MultiCOM 352 in the slot Put the cover back on and tighten the two screws Connect the null modem serial cable DB9 DB9 to SERIAL 1 NOTE if using a modem only for UPS SENTR connect the cable provided with the modem to the SERIAL 1 port Connect the serial cable DB9 RJ45 to SERIAL 2 9 Switch the UPS on again and remove the maintenance by pass if activated previously Tea A TED a TYPICAL INSTALLATION Illustrated below is an example of a typical installation of a MultiCOM 351 PC ES UPS MultiCOM 351 FIRMWARE UPGRADING The equipment can be programmed again by the user for upgrading of the firmware The upgrading files and the instructions needed are available from the manufacturer s internet site 20 ENGLISH DATA SHEET
