ED II 8 111 HOIST Brush and Commutator Wear Limits HOISTS AND CRANES PURPOSE ED II amp III hoist brush and armature commutator inspection and replacement recommendations PRODUCT INFORMATION HARRINGTON ED II amp III HOIST The ED II amp Ill hoist features a DC motor Like all DC motors the ED II amp III motor must be maintained properly to ensure satisfactory operation Proper maintenance involves inspection of the motor brushes and the motor armature The brushes should be inspected FREQUENTLY and the armature should be inspected PERIODICALLY see your Owner s Manual for definition of frequently and periodically The armature should be replaced when the commutator becomes worn more than 1 mm after approximately 400 hours of operation see FIG 1 below The brushes should be replaced when less than 8 mm of brush material remains after approximately 200 hours of operation see FIG 2 below The document that accompanies this pair of brushes is to emphasize the importance of proper maintenance including maintenance of the motor brushes As an additional measure to ensure proper maintenance of the motor please be sure to insert this document into your Owner s Manual for safekeeping and easy reference FIG 1 Armature Commutator FIG 2 Motor Brush Dimensions F Dimension inch mm HARRINGTON HOISTS INC 401 WEST END AVE GENERAL USE MANHEIM PA 17545 717 665 2000 EDOC0536 2341 POMONA RINCON RD2.
