1. Remove all nicks and scratches from the piston skirt The piston tube is chrome plated and only pistons with tubes in good condition should be reused Power Spring Check for excessive rust and or pitting Remove any light rust and coat with rust inhibitor compound Springs with heavy rust or pitting should not be reused REASSEMBLY 1 Lubricate replacement piston tube bushing and o ring with hydraulic oil and install in cylinder 2 Lubricate replacement piston bearing and o ring with hydraulic oil and install on piston between skirt and retaining ring Reassembly Continued on Back Side MONTAJE continuaci n 3 Engrase las paredes del cilindro con aceite hidr ulico 4 Alinee cuidadosamente el tubo del pist n con el agujero del cilindro y vuelva a instalar el pist n en el cilindro sin perforar ni da ar la junta t rica 5 Coloque el cilindro con el pist n en la prensa e instale el Instrucciones resorte y la tapa del extremo sobre la parte superior del de servicio resorte 6 Accione la prensa lentamente sobre la tapa del extremo comprimiendo el resorte Extreme las precauciones al fijar la L31112 tapa del extremo para que los agujeros del cilindro y de la tapa del extremo queden correctamente alineados Rev 10 01 7 Instale los seis tornillos de capuch n y apri telos con un par de 10 15 pies libras No utilice una llave de impacto ya que podr an da arse las roscas 8 Retire la unidad de la pre2. 5. on tube Note A sealant is used on the threads at assembly to prevent loosening from vibration 2 Run release bolt down until it turns freely Using a 1 8 punch drive out the roll pin securing the nut to the release bolt Back the nut off the bolt Using a screw driver run the bolt down into the brake unit so that it is fully disengaged 3 Position the brake in a press with a minimum throat opening height of 24 inches and a minimum stroke of 12 inches A press plate with 3 4 mounting holes 4 3 4 center to center and a 2 push rod hole is necessary for safety and ease of disassembly Secure the brake in the press placing the push rod and the mounting studs through the press plate 4 Apply the press slowly until light contact is made with the unit Excessive force could damage the unit 5 Remove all cap screws Do not use an impact wrench as the threads could be damaged 6 Slowly retract the press allowing the spring to expand to its full free height DISASSEMBLY Continued 7 Remove the spring and the piston from the brake cylinder and discard piston bearing and o ring 8 Remove piston tube bushing and o ring from cylinder and discard Clean all parts thoroughly and inspect per the following guidelines INSPECTION AND RECONDITIONING Cylinder Check the bore for rust scoring or dents Unit may be rebuilt only if minor imperfections can be removed easily with light 200 grit or finer sanding Piston
