7. d Aluminum cylinders may be used indefinitely with regular retesting It is the responsibility of your organized respiratory protection program to ar range for visual inspection and hydrostatic testing of cylinders by a licensed retester and to comply with any other regional or national requirements as applicable INSPECTION BEFORE RECHARGING Breathing air cylinders should be visually inspected regularly and re charged as soon as practical after use For maximum safety the cylin ders should be stored either empty or full Do not store cylinders partially charged Using partial cylinders will reduce the duration that the apparatus can be used Before recharging inspect the cylinder and valve assembly as follows 1 Check the latest cylinder hydrostatic test date to ensure it is current The date of manufacture marked on the cylinder is also the date of the first hydrostatic test Inspect the valve assembly and verify that it is clean and free physical damage Inspect the following for dirt or damage a the cylinder valve hand wheel b the threads on the cylinder valve outlet c the relief valve burst disc Inspect the cylinder for physical damage such as dents or gouges in metal or in composite wrapping Inspect the cylinder for evidence of exposure to high heat or flame such as a paint turned brown or black b decals charred or missing c pressure gauge lens melted or d elastomeric bumper distorted Inspect the cylin
