55. ke engines are the cleanest most fuel efficient outboard motors on the market The intake and exhaust valves are never open at the same time preventing unburned fuel from escaping the combustion chamber These engines run on straight gasoline so you never have to mix oil with gas They are currently avail able in ratings up to 130 horsepower Two stroke Engines with Direct Fuel Injection DFI These engines spray fuel into a cylinder after the piston covers the exhaust port on the up stroke The fuel is injected into the top of the cylinder next to the spark plug While this technology isn t as efficient as a four stroke engine it is much cleaner than carbu reted two strokes DFI engines also reduce oil use by 50 percent over conventional catbureted two stroke outboard engines They are currently available in ratings from 90 to 225 horsepower HEU ENGINE MAINTENANCE f you keep your engine well tuned it will last longer use fuel more efficiently and reduce your fuel consumption It will also discharge fewer pollutants into the Lake The cleaners oil grease transmission fluid and antifreeze associated with engine 3 maintenance contain toxic elements and metals that are harmful to fish and wildlife and should be kept out of our drinking water source Organisms that live or feed on the bottom of the lake ingest these contaminants and transmit them up through the food chain until they accumulate in sometimes dangerous con
