Additional items needed CoaguChek XS monitor with User s Manual lancing device and lancets e g CoaguChek Softclix and CoaguChek Softclix Lancet from Roche Diagnostics Before you test Before carrying out your first blood test please read the User s Manual for your CoaguChek XS monitor carefully to acquaint yourself with the way it works Getting ready Each code chip belongs to a particular lot of test strips e Make sure that the number on the code chip matches the number on the label of the test strip container If you have opened a new pack of CoaguChek XS PT test strips you must replace the code chip from the old pack if still in the monitor with the one supplied in the new pack Every time you insert a test strip in the monitor the display shows the number of the code chip that is inserted in the monitor At this point you must compare the code number you see on the display with the number that is printed on the test strip container and confirm by pressing the M button do not remove the code chip from the monitor when you do this The two numbers must be identical A Using the wrong code chip can produce incorrect results e Perform the test as described in the Users Manual and in this package insert All operating steps are described and illustrated in detail in the User s Manual supplied with the monitor e Carefully wash your hands with soap and warm water Then thoroughly dry them with a clean towel before you la
