17. eries into the battery compartment Make sure that the batteries are installed with proper polarities Battery life When the batteries are weak the operation bat tery check indicator will dim or turn off during operation replace the batteries APE PLAYBACK Refer to page 8 1 Insert a cassetie 2 Press the playback button The operation battery check indicator will illu minate 3 Adjust the volume To stop the playback press the stop button Fast forward and rewind The tape will rapidly advance in the forward or reverse direction when one of the fast buttons is pressed If the fast buttons are partially pressed during playback the recorded sound on the tape can be monitored at a fast speed When the button is released playback will re sume eWhen the tape reaches the end by pressing one of the fast buttons the tape movement stops but the unit is not turned off Do not leave the set in this condition Be sure to press the stop button E Auto reverse When the tape comes to the end of its travel the auto reverse system functions and the tape direc tion changes automatically to start playing the opposite side of the tape Manual reverse Select the playback side forward or reverse by setting the direction selector to 41E or RD E Pause switch The tape movement can be stopped temporarily by setting the pause switch to the A position The tape movement will start again
