35. 36 2 5 2007 209 222 2006 10 30 2007 1 29 A Study of Anti Doping Education Students Consciousness for Anti Doping Mitsuyo Yopa Yuuki KAMEYAMA Kazuhiro SUZUKAWA Masamitsu Iro and Mariko KOJIMA In 1999 WADA World Anti Doping Agency was founded and in 2001 JADA Japan Anti Doping Agency was also established In 2003 the Asia Oceania Branch Office was opened in Tokyo and later that year the Shizuoka National Policy saw the introduction of doping con trol at the National Athletic Meet thus giving rise to future advancement in the various ac tivities of anti doping on a national level It is developments such as these that compel this uni versity to urgently examine just what type of anti doping education is necessary for stu dents currently making grounds as athletes and other students wishing to pursue a future in sports training There are four major points that can be attributed to the results of this research 1 the higher the year level the lower the number of members to each respective sports depart ment clubs and circle 2 the higher the year level the

50. higher the competitive level with ap proximately 50 of third year students participating in tournaments at a national level 3 the lower the year level the more experience students have with being prescribed oral medi cine from sports doctors and 4 approximately 20 of students have received some type of education on the issue of anti doping In this research it was made clear that amongst the students who have and have not re ceived education on anti doping it is the students who have not received such instruction who do not have a great sense of ethical value These results suggest that anti doping educa tion does indeed have an effect The research also brought to light the fact that there is a great er need for anti doping education the higher the year level for those wanting to know about doping with regards to Article 7 from the list of 10 Articles Furthermore when comparing the different year levels with regards to their awareness re garding doping it was found that there were far more ethical issues amongst the second year students than there were first and third year students It is for this reason that the results illustrate just how early education for first years on the issue of anti doping would be an effective step Regarding anti doping education at this university one can foresee the implementation of anti doping specialist organizations and movements towards the organization of anti doping campaigns In addition ther
