Discharging LiXX The GM Commander SPORT can also be used to discharge batteries typically in order to ascertain the remaining capacity after a run A ATTENTION if the balancer lead is not connected the individual cells will not be balanced LiPo DISCHARGE Press the Batt Type Stop button to move to the PROGRAM SELECT LiPo BATT menu Now press Start Enter for the LiPo DISCHARGE menu The default pre set charge current and cell count are displayed on the screen If you wish to change these settings press Start Enter again the charge current starts to flash and can now be changed using the DEC or INC button Pressing the Start Enter button again takes you to the cell count which can be adjusted in the same manner When the settings are correct hold the Start Enter button pressed in for three seconds the charger then initiates the auto matic cell detect process BATTERY CHECK please refer to Chapter 11 for details of programming the CHK time and displays the values on the screen If everything is correct press the Start Enter button to initiate the charge process if you need to correct the values again you can interrupt the process with Stop To interrupt the charge process before it terminates automatically press the Stop button WARNING it is absolutely essential to enter the correct discharge current and cell count at this point otherwise the battery may be dam

The GM Commander SPORT automatically detects the cell count of the battery connected to it in order to prevent user errors However under certain circumstances for example ifthe battery is deeply discharged the calculated cell count may be false For this reason it is possible to enter a period during which the charger constantly monitors the battery voltage and corrects the number of cells if necessary In most cases a period of 15 seconds is sufficient to give a correct cell count value but a longer period should be selected for batteries of very high capacity The monitor period must also be increased if you find that the charger incorrectly calculates the cell count at the start of the charge process Never continue to charge the battery if the displayed cell count is not the same as the actual cell count NiCd NiMH Sensitivity At this point you can set the Delta Peak sensitivity see also the bottom of the page The range of values available is 5 to 20 mV per cell Setting a higher value causes the battery to be charged more fully but also allows it to heat up to a higher temperature there is a possibility of overcharging the pack which may shorten its useful life We recommend a value in the range 8 12 mV for NiCd batteries 7 mV for NiMH batteries and 5 mV for NiMH RTU batteries The factory default setting is 12 mV for NiCd and 7 mV for NiMH USB Temp Select Temp Cut off The cut off temperature can be set at this point but
