JL Audio INSTALLATION APPLICATIONS This amplifier is designed for operation in vehicles with 12 volt negative ground electrical systems Use of this product in vehicles with positive ground and or voltages other than 12V may result in damage to the product and will void the warranty This product is not certified or approved for use in aircraft Do not attempt to bridge the outputs of this amplifier with the outputs of a second amplifier including an identical one PLANNING YOUR INSTALLATION It is important that you take the time to read this manual and that you plan out your installation carefully The following are some considerations that you must take into account when planning your installation Cooling Efficiency Considerations The outer shell of your JL Audio amplifier is designed to remove heat from the amplifier circuitry For optimum cooling performance this outer shell should be exposed to as large a volume of air as possible Enclosing the amplifier in a small poorly ventilated chamber can lead to excessive heat build up and degraded performance If an installation calls for an enclosure around the amplifier we recommend that this enclosure be ventilated with the aid of a fan In normal applications fan cooling is not necessary Ea IMPORTANT Mounting the amplifier upside down is strongly discouraged If mounting the amplifier under a seat make sure there is at

This will prevent accidental damage to the system the vehicle and your body during installation f 2 VDC Ground Remote L AUDIO The JX360 2 s 12VDC and Ground connections are designed to accept 4 AWG power wire 4 AWG is a minimum power wire size for this amplifier If you are installing the JX360 2 with other amplifiers and wish to use a single main power wire use 2 AWG or larger main power wire depending on the overall current demands of all the amplifiers in the system This 2 AWG or larger power wire should terminate into a fused distribution block mounted as close to the amplifiers as possible and should connect to the JX360 2 with 4 AWG power wire Note Smaller AWG numbers mean bigger wire and vice versa 1 0 AWG is the largest 2 AWG is smaller then 4 AWG then 8 AWG etc To connect the power and ground wires to the amplifier strip 1 2 inch 12 mm of insulation from each wire and insert the bare wire into the the appropriate terminal block positions on the JX360 2 Use the supplied 2 5 mm hex wrench to secure the wire via the screw on the top of each terminal The GROUND connection should be made using 4 AWG wire and should be kept as short as possible while accessing a solid piece of sheet metal in the vehicle The surface of the sheet metal should be sanded at the contact point to create a clean metal to metal connection between the chassi

TURN ON LEAD The JX360 2 is turned on and off using a conventional 12V remote turn on lead typically controlled by the source unit s remote turn on output 12 VDC Ground Remote OOo JL AUDIO The amplifier will turn on when 12V is present at its Remote input and turn off when 12V is switched off Ifa source unit does not have a dedicated remote turn on output the amplifier s turn on lead can be connected to 12V via a switch that derives power from an ignition switched circuit 18 AWG wire is more than adequate for the remote turn on connection To connect the remote turn on wire to the amplifier strip 1 2 inch 12 mm of insulation from the wire and insert it into the Remote receptacle on the power connector Tighten the connector down using the supplied 2 5 mm hex wrench INPUT SECTIONS The JX360 2 s has one pair of stereo inputs The input section input section offers two input connection methods one for high level speaker level signals and one for low level preamp level signals 1 Low Level Inputs A standard left right pair of RCA type jacks in the Amplifier Inputs section is used for preamp level low level signal input on the JX360 2 This is the preferred connection method whenever available ooooo LI LI Hi Level Inputs R Low Levelinputs P JL A

Falls nur ein Eingang belegt wird werden Verzerrungen verursacht Vermeiden Sie dies in jedem Fall Wenn der JX360 2 gebr ckt wird ist das Ausgangssignal immer ein Mono Signal nur ein Kanal Dieser Monokanal kann sowohl nur das rechte Kanalsignal als auch das linke Kanalsignal oder die Summe aus beiden Kan len beinhalten Um eine dieser M glichkeiten zu gew hrleisten sollten Sie eine der beiden folgenden Anweisungen befolgen 1 Nur das linke ODER das rechte Kanalsignal Falls Sie w nschen dass nur jeweils das linke oder rechte Kanalsignal im gebr ckten Monomodus ausgegeben wird sollten Sie einen Y Adapter verwenden der das jeweils gew nschte Audiosignal splittet Dies ist n tzlich wenn Sie einen JX360 2 nur f r das linke Lausprechersystem und ein weiterer JX360 2 nur f r das rechte Lautsprechersystem benutzen m chten 2 Linkes UND rechtes Kanalsignal Falls Sie ein Stereo Signal br cken m chten wird das Signal automatisch am Lautsprecher Kanalpaar summiert Links Rechts ausgegeben Dies ist n tzlich wenn Sie mit 2 JX360 2 ein Subwoofer System oder einen summierten Mono Center Lautsprecher betreiben m chten STATUSANZEIGE SCHUTZSCHALTUNG Der JX360 2 verf gt ber zwei Statusanzeigelichter am Bedienger t des Verst rkers OO Power Protect 1 Power Griin Der Verstarker befindet sich im normalen Betriebszustand Das Licht ist ganz links am Bedieng

K hlung zu gew hrleisten Sicherheitsaspekte Ihr Verst rker muss in einem trockenen gut bel fteten Bereich verbaut werden der die Sicherheitssysteme des Fahrzeugs nicht beeintr chtigt Airbags Sicherheitsgurte ABS Bremssysteme etc Sorgen Sie zudem unbedingt daf r dass der Verst rker mit den mitgelieferten Schrauben fest am Einbauort verschraubt ist damit sich dieser im Falle eines Unfalls oder eines pl tzlichen Sto es nicht l sen kann Fehlervermeidung Bevor Sie mit dem Bohren der L cher beginnen sollten Sie sich vergewissern dass g m G pr n N I dabei keine wichtigen Bereiche des Fahrzeugs wie Benzintank Bremsleitungen Kabelb ume oder hnliches besch digt werden k nnen Verlegen Sie niemals elektrische Leitungen au erhalb oder unterhalb des Fahrzeugs Dies ist extrem gef hrlich und kann zu ernsthaften Sch den am Fahrzeug und zu Verletzungen der Insassen f hren Sch tzen Sie alle Leitungen und Kabel vor scharfen Metallkanten und Besch digungen indem Sie die Kabel sorgf ltig verlegen Verbauen Sie den Verst rker niemals im Motorraum oder unter au erhalb sowie auf dem Dach des Fahrzeugs oder einem anderen Bereich wo der Verst rker den Witterungen ausgesetzt ist JX360 2 PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNG Der JL Audio JX360 2 ist ein 2 Kanal Vollbereichs Verst rker mit A B Klassetechnologie Der JX360 2 Verst rker kann mit vielen System Konfigurationen und Steuereinheite

Steuereinheit auf 3 4 der Maximal Stellung Dies erm glicht eine angemessene Lautst rke mit moderatem Clipping bei voller Lautst rke 5 Benutzen Sie die Tabelle unten um die geeignete Zielspannung f r den Regler Input Sens gem der nominellen Lautsprecherimpedanz zu ermitteln die am Verst rker angeschlossen wird 6 Versichern Sie sich nochmals dass die Lautsprecherkabel entfernt wurden bevor Sie fortfahren Starten Sie dann die Wiedergabe der Sinuskurve die f r den JX geeignet ist bei 3 4 der Maximal Lautst rke des Steuerger ts 7 Verbinden Sie das Voltmeter mit den Lautsprecherausg ngen des Verst rkers Stellen Sie sicher dass Sie die Spannung an den richtigen Anschl ssen und testen 8 Drehen Sie dann langsam den Regler Input Sens im Uhrzeigersinn nach rechts bis die zuvor ermittelte Zielspannung erreicht wird die am Voltmeter angezeigt wird 9 Wenn Sie dann das maximale nicht verzerrende Ausgangssignal eingestellt haben m ssen die Lautsprecherkabel wieder angeschlossen werden Falls erforderlich ist die Ausgangsleistung herabzusetzen um sie der Gesamtbalance des Soundsystems anzupassen Dies k nnen Sie mit dem Regler Input Sens durchf hren HWICHTIG Drehen Sie den Regler Input Sens des Verst rkers nicht h her als der maximale Einstellungswert den Sie zuvor ermittelt haben Dies k nnte h rbare Verzerrungen und Sch den an den Lautsprechern verursachen Fall

V sollte an den Audiosignal Ausg ngen des Steuerger ts anliegen berpr fen Sie die Lautsprecherausg nge des Verst rkers Halten Sie sich dabei an die Angaben des vorangegangenen Abschnitts nachdem Sie die Audiosignal Verkabelung wieder angeschlossen haben um die Lautsprecherausg nge des Verst rkers entsprechend zu testen Wenn sie keine Testt ne auf high level h ren sollten Sie zun chst die Lautsprecherkabel am Verst rker entfernen Der Lautst rkeregler des Steuerger ts g m G par n N I sollte etwa auf 50 der Maximal Lautst rke gestellt sein Es sollten dann 5 Volt oder mehr Spannung an den Lautsprecherausg ngen anliegen Falls ausreichend Spannung gemessen wird gehen Sie zum n chsten Schritt wie unten beschrieben berpr fen Sie die Lautsprecherverkabelung und sorgen Sie f r eine gute Verbindung der Kontaktfl che der Kabel und der Metallfl che im Innern der Anschlussbl cke Die Anschl sse sind auf einen Kabelquerschnitt von bis zu 8mm ausgelegt Stellen Sie sicher dass die Lautsprecherkabel fest in den Anschlussbl cken befestigt sind 14 JL Audio JX360 2 15 INSTALLATIONSNOTZIEN Benutzen Sie dieses Diagramm um die Schalterstellungen und Reglereinstellungen zu vermerken O 100 125 2 en Power Protect Filter Mode 80 ff HP Off LP 150 O Hi Level Inputs i D Filter Freq Hz Low Level Inputs Preouts JL Audio JX360
10. cken Betrieb sollte die Lautsprecherimpedanz nicht weniger als 4 Ohm betragen WICHTIG Nominale Lautsprecherimpedanzen von weniger als 2 Ohm sind unbedingt zu vermeiden diese verursachen starke Verzerrungen am Ausgangssignal und f hren m glicherweise dazu dass der Verst rker in den Schutzmodus wechselt JX360 2 BR CKEN BETRIEB Der Br cken Modus ist eine Anschlussmethode bei der zwei Lautsprecherausg nge kombiniert werden um einen Lautsprecher Subwoofer anzutreiben Im Br cken Modus liefert dann jeder der Ausgangskan le die gleiche Leistung mit umgekehrter Polarit t Die kombinierten Ausg nge verdoppeln dann die Ausgangsleistung f r den angeschlossenen Lautsprecher Subwoofer Der JX360 2 wurde f r das Br cken an den Kanalpaaren konzipiert ohne Eingangsverpolungs Adapter daf r zu ben tigen Um ein Anschlusspaar zu br cken benutzen Sie nur die Anschl sse Left und Right Left and Right bleiben dabei unbelegt Damit liefert jeder Kanal die optimale Ausgangsleistung bei 4 Ohm HWICHTIG Sollte ein Kanalpaar gebr ckt werden liefert dieses 360W x 1 an 4 Ohm bzw 220W x 1 an 8 Ohm Die Impedanz von 4 Ohm an einem gebriickten Kanalpaar sollte keinesfalls unterschritten werden WICHTIG Da beide gebr ckte Kan le ein Eingangssignal ben tigen m ssen somit auch beide dazugeh renden Eingangsbuchsen Links und Rechts mit dem Signal des Steuerger ts versorgt werden

12. ngig vom Gesamtstrombedarf und der Kabell nge aller Verst rker des Systems Verbinden Sie das Stromversorgungskabel mit einem Kabelquerschnitt von 35mm oder 50mm mit einem gesicherten Verteilerblock der sich m glichst in der N he der Verst rker befindet Der Verteilerblock sollte dann mit einem Stromversorgungskabel mit einem Querschnitt von 25mm mit dem JX360 2 verbunden werden f 2 VDC Ground Remote IL AUDIO Um das Strom und das Massekabel mit dem Verst rker zu verbinden entfernen Sie 12mm der Isolation von jedem der Kabel und f hren Sie die abisolierten Kabel in die daf r vorgesehenen Verteilerblockpositionen am JX360 2 Benutzen sie hierbei den gelieferten 2 5mm Innensechskantwinkelschraubenschl ssel um das Kabel mithilfe der Schraube auf der Oberfl che fest zu verbinden Der Masseanschluss GROUND sollte mit einem Kabel mit Querschnitt 23mm gemacht werden Achten Sie darauf dass diese Verbindung so kurz wie m glich gehalten wird Suchen Sie daf r einen metallischen blanken Punkt an der Fahrzeugkarosserie Falls erforderlich sollte dieser Massepunkt zuvor von Lackresten und Rost durch Abschleifen befreit werden Diese Verbindung muss fest und korrosionsfrei sein um eine gute Konnektivi t zu gew hrleisten An dieser Stelle empfehlen wir den Gebrauch einer gro en Blechschraube und einer Sternscheibe um die Verbindung fest zusammenf gen zu k nnen Alternativ k
13. nnen Sie hierf r auch eine spezielle Erdungsklemme wie die JL Audio XB MGLU nutzen Alle Kabel die durch Metall f hren sollten mit einer hochwertigen Gummiringdichtung gesichert werden um die Kabelisolierung vor Besch digungen durch scharfe g m I n N I Blechkanten und somit vor einem gef hrlichen Kurzschluss zu sch tzen Hw chHric Viele Fahrzeuge verf gen nur ber eine sehr schwache 5mm bis 10mm Stromleitung f r die Masseverbindung zwischen Karosserie und Batterie sowie f r die Pluspolverbindung mit der Lichtmaschine Um Spannungsabf lle zu vermeiden m ssen diese Verbindungen durch Kabel mit einem Querschnitt von mindestens 25mm ausgetauscht werden wenn die Verst rkersicherung gr er als 60A ist ZUSATZSICHERUNG Es ist unbedingt erforderlich dass eine Zusatzsicherung in das Pluspolkabel der Stromversorgung zur Fahrzeugbatterie in einem maximalen Abstand von 45cm installiert wird Der Sicherungswert richtet sich nach allen angeschlossenen Ger ten im Soundsystem Falls Sie nur einen JX360 2 benutzen empfehlen wir eine 50A Sicherung des Typs AGU oder Maxi Wenn Sie jedoch mehrere Ger te mit einem Hauptversorgungskabel betreiben muss auch der Hauptsicherungswert f r dieses hoch genug ausgelegt sein Nutzen Sie daher einen gesicherten Verteilerblock der es erm glicht die Stromversorgung aufzuteilen mit jeweils einer geeigneten Sicherung und einem Versorgungskabel f r jedes Ger
14. nnen zu Sch den am Produkt f hren und verletzen die Garantiebedingungen Dieses Produkt ist nicht f r den Einsatz in einem Flugzeug konzipiert Bitte br cken Sie niemals die Ausg nge dieses Verst rkers mit den Ausg ngen eines anderen auch wenn dieser ein identisches Modell ist PLANUNG DER INSTALLATION Es ist wichtig dass Sie sich die Zeit nehmen um dieses Benutzerhandbuch ausf hrlich zu lesen und den Einbau des Verst rkers sorgf ltig planen Die folgenden Punkte sollten bei der Planung der Installation beachtet werden K hlung Ihr JL Audio Verst rker ist so entworfen dass der K hlk rper die enstehende Hitze optimal absorbiert Dazu sollte der K hlk rper ein m glichst gro es Luftvolumen zur Verf gung haben um eine optimale K hlung gew hrleisten zu k nnen Falls der Verst rker in zu kleine oder schlecht bel ftete Bereiche eingebaut wird k nnte sich ein Hitzestau entwickeln und die Leistung des Ger tes negativ beeintr chtigen Sollten Sie den Verst rker in einem geschlossenen Bereich installieren wollen sollte dieser mit einem L fter zus tzlich bel ftet werden Ein L fter ist bei einer normalen Installation nicht n tig Beachten Sie dennoch folgende grundlegende Richtlinien Von einer Kopf ber Montage raten wir ab Falls Sie den Verst rker unter einem Sitz verbauen m chten stellen Sie sicher dass ein Freiraum von mindestens 2 5cm ber dem K hlk rper vorhanden ist um eine ausreichende
15. t JX360 2 EINSCHALTLEITUNG Der JX360 2 ben tigt eine herk mmliche 12V Einschaltleitung welche blicherweise vom Steuerger t gesteuert wird Der Verst rker wird dann eingeschaltet sobald 12V am Remote Anschluss anliegen und wieder abgeschaltet wenn das Steuerger t ausgeschaltet wird 12 VDC Ground Remote QQ o JL AUDIO Falls Ihr Steuerger t nicht ber eine Einschaltleitung verf gt kann eine andere 12V Leitung benutzt werden die mit der Z ndung des Fahrzeugs aktiv geschaltet wird Der Remote Anschluss ist f r die Aufnahme eines Kabels mit einem Querschnitt von mindestens 1 5mm ausgelegt Um das Kabel der Einschaltleitung an den Verst rker anzuschlie en sollten Sie etwa 12mm der Kabelisolierung abziehen F hren sie das Kabel nun in den Remote Anschluss am Stromanschluss ein Schrauben Sie die Steckverbindung mit Hilfe des 2 5mm Innensechskantwinkelschraubenschl ssel fest VERST RKEREING NGE Der JX360 2 hat hat ein Paar Stereo Eing nge Diese erm glichen zwei unterschiedliche Methoden f r Eingangsverbindungen eine f r high level Lautsprecher Level und eine f r low level Vorverst rker Level Signale 1 Low Level Inputs Ein herk mmliches Paar an linken rechten RCA Cinch Buchsen im Bereich der Verstaarkereing nge wird f r low level Vorverst rker Level Signale am JX360 2 genutzt Hierbei handelt es sich u

Sicherheitsgr nden unter 30cm liegen Diese Sicherung ist unabdingbar um Ihr Fahrzeug zu sch tzen Installieren Sie die Sicherung erst nachdem das Stromkabel sicher mit dem Verst rker verbunden wurde 4 Verlegen Sie die Audio Signalkabel und die Remote Steuerleitung vom Steuerger t zum Einbauort des Verst rkers 5 Verlegen Sie die Lautsprecherkabel vom Lautsprecher zum Einbauort des Verst rkers 6 Danach suchen Sie einen soliden metallischen Massepunkt in der N he des Verst rkers und schlie en Sie das Massekabel Minus mit geeignetem Anschlusszubeh r dort an Benutzen Sie daf r den selben Kabel Querschnitt wie der des verwendeten Stromversorgungskabels f r den Pluspol mind 253mm Achten Sie darauf dass der Abstand zwischen Verst rker und Massepunkt nicht gr er als 90cm ist In einigen Fahrzeugen k nnte es erforderlich sein dass das Massekabel der Fahrzeugbatterie durch ein Kabel mit einem gr eren Querschnitt ersetzt werden muss Beachten Sie dazu den Abschnitt WICHTIG auf Seite 5 7 Verschrauben Sie den Verst rker mit den beiliegenden Schrauben sicher und fest mit dem Untergrund am Einbauort 8 Verbinden Sie die Stromversorgungskabel jeweils Plus und Minus mit dem Verst rker 9 Verbinden Sie die Remote Steuerleitung mit dem Verst rker 10 Verbinden Sie die Audio Signalkabel des Steuerger ts mit dem Verst rker 11 Verbinden Sie die Lautsprecherkabel mit dem Verst rker 12 be
18. ative power wire to it using appropriate hardware Use the same size power wire as the wire connected to the 12VDC connection minimum 4 AWG no longer than 36 inches 90 cm from the amplifier to the ground connection point In some vehicles it may be necessary to upgrade the battery ground wire See page 5 for important notice 7 Securely mount the amplifier using appropriate hardware 8 Connect the positive and negative power wires to the amplifier 9 Connect the remote turn on wire to the amplifier 10 Connect the input cables to the amplifier 11 Connect the speaker cables to the amplifier 12 Carefully review the amplifier s control settings to make sure that they are set according to the needs of the system 13 Install the power wire fuse 50A for a single JX360 2 and reconnect the negative battery post terminal 14 Turn on the source unit at a low level to double check that the amplifier is configured correctly Resist the temptation to crank it up until you have verified the control settings 15 Make necessary adjustments to the input sensitivity controls to obtain the right overall output and the desired balance in the system See Appendix A page 12 for the recommended input sensitivity setting method 16 Enjoy the fruits of your labor with your favorite music JL Audio POWER CONNECTIONS Before installing the amplifier disconnect the negative ground wire from the vehicle s battery

46. udio 2 Hi Level Inputs If your system does not offer a preamp level signal option you can connect speaker level signals directly to the Hi Level Inputs connectors using the supplied mating connectors and wire harnesses Simply splice the appropriate left right and positive negative wires to the included harnesses and plug the harness into the Hi Level Inputs connectors on the amplifier The JX360 2 will attenuate the high level signals to make them compatible with its input stage IMPORTANT Make sure you observe correct polarity in making the Hi Level Input connections Failure to do so will reduce bass and affect stereo imaging The connections for the Hi Level Inputs plug wires are as follows from left to right on the plug Channel 1 Left White Left Positive White Black Left Negative Black Common Ground rarely used Channel 2 Right Gray Right Positive Gray Black Right Negative The only time you will use the Common Ground connections is with some older pre 1980 s factory systems or head units that ground their speakers to chassis ground To use these connections ground the black wires on the plugs to chassis ground and only connect the Left and Right Positive plug wires to the factory radio outputs Ea IMPORTANT When the amplifier is bridged both the Left and Right inputs must be fed with signal Failure to do so will result in significant audible dis
