1. WORLD BEST PRINTING Using Overlays What is an Overlay An overlay is text and or images stored on the computer hard disk drive HDD as a special file format that can be printed on any document Overlays are often used to take the place of pre printed forms and letterhead paper Rather than using preprinted letterhead you can create an overlay containing the exact same information that is currently on your letterhead To print a letter with your company s letterhead you need only tell the machine to print the letterhead overlay on your document Creating a New Page Overlay To use a page overlay you must create a new page overlay containing your logo or image 1 Create or open a document containing text or an image for use in a new page overlay Position the items exactly as you wish them to appear when printed as an overlay If needed save the file for later use 2 To change the print settings from your software application access the printer s Properties See page 3 2 3 Click the Extras tab and click Edit in the Overlay section gt Samsung SCX 4100 Series Properties 2 x Layout Paper Graphics Extras About r Watermark Urgent pd Edit 8 50 x 11 00 in r Output Options Copies 1 Print Order el Nom o Favorites Save ELECTRONICS Cancel Apply Help 4 Inthe Edit Overlays window click Create Over

61. d not too dry or humid Remember that paper is hygroscopic it absorbs and loses moisture rapidly Heat works with humidity to damage paper Heat causes the moisture in paper to evaporate while cold causes it to condense on the sheets Heating systems and air conditioners remove most of the humidity from a room As paper is opened and used it loses moisture causing streaks and smudging Humid weather or water coolers can cause the humidity to increase in a room As paper is opened and used it absorbs any excess moisture causing light print and dropouts Also as paper loses and gains moisture it can become distorted This can cause paper jams Care should be taken not to purchase more paper than can be used in a short time about 3 months Paper stored for long periods may experience heat and moisture extremes which can cause damage Planning is important to prevent damage to large supplies of paper Unopened paper in sealed reams can remain stable for several months before use Opened packages of paper have more potential for environment damage especially if they are not wrapped with a moisture proof barrier The paper storage environment should be properly maintained to ensure optimum performance The optimum condition is 20 to 24 C 68 to 75 F with a relative humidity of 45 to 55 The following guidelines should be considered when evaluating the paper s storage environment e Paper should be stored at or near room temperature
