Memorial University of Newfoundland Wireless Connection Installation Manual 7 Apple Leopard 10 5 6 Last updated April 2009 Department of Computing and Communications Memorial University of Newfoundland St John s Newfoundland Disclaimer This document is written using a vanilla configuration of Leopard 10 5 6 any user of this guide should be aware that third party programs may interfere with configuring the wireless network This guide is intended as a best effort setup The steps detailed in this guide have been tested and working ona fully patched and up to date Apple Macbook running Leopard 10 5 6 using the built in Airport card Apple Leopard Mun Wireless Configuration Requirements e Acomputer running Leopard 10 5 6 operating system with latest patches applied e Awireless network card supporting IEEE 802 11g installed with the latest drivers NOTE Do not install the network card software only install the drivers e Your wireless account and SSID can be generated online at https www mun ca cc services network wireless dattool ph Configuration 1 Open the Network Preferences by either going through System Preferences or by clicking the wireless icon on the Menu bar and choosing open Network Preferences wa t 4 Gl Thu 11 03 AM AirPort Off Turn AirPort On Open Network Preferences 2 Make sure Airport is selected on the left and click the Advanced Button Locatio2. lick the AirPort button furthest to the left and click the plus sign to add in the Wireless Connection WPA Personal WPA Enterprise WEP Password 7 Type in the wireless network you will be connecting to stu fac or guest select WPA Enterprise from the security drop down box and then enter your user name and password 802 1X is fine left as Automatic and click Add Enter the name of the network Enter the name of the network you want to add and then erter the password if necessary You can also click Show Networks to see alist of availahle networks Network Namex stu Security a PA Enterprise 7 User Name wi Remember this network Show Networks _ Cancel 8 Click Apply from the Main Network Preferences page this may be enough to start the connection if not Turn Airport Off and then on via the button on the top right Location Automatic HH Bluetooth gt Not Connected 3 Status On Turn AirPort Off AirPort is turned on but is not connected to Ethernet amp 2 Bx i Not Connected FireWire Ge iiad 9 Network Name No network selected a z ois as oe ons Known networks will be joined automatically If no Known networks are available you will be asked before joining a new network z Show AirPort status in menu bar rh Click the lock to prevent further changes Assist me Revert 9 A802 1X authentication window ma
