1. 8 Pad Muilchinson Sales and Service Inc User Manual for Sunstream Sunlift Please check our website for instructions on how to do Seasonal Maintenance Disconnect White Hydraulic Box and re programming your remote control Your Very First Use Boat is on lift in the full upright position If you have a boathouse and are going to use your lift boats immediately open garage door s If you have multiple lifts please label which remote control operates which lift We recommend labelling your garage door openers and your yellow Sunstream float attached to your remote control If there is any doubt open all garage doors just to be safe The remote is push and hold to operate the lift Our normal procedure is to leave the two remote controls inside the White Hydraulic Box called the Power Pack Open the Power Pack The base unit for the remote control is in the box It has an up down switch as well as the main on off switch for your unit Make sure the unit is turn on Using one of the handheld remote control units simply push and hold the down button Lower your lift from the top position until it 1s at a height that you can easily get on and off your boat from your dock You can lower it until your boat is floating but it is easier to get on off the boat when the lift stabilizing your boat Load everyone on to the boat As you are lowering your boat into the water you will feel when the boat starts to float a little At2. erpack for storage purposes Articles or tools in the box could cause damage to the pump or electrical system 10 Do not disconnect quick disconnect hydraulics with a boat loaded on the lift nor in the over center position It is difficult to re attach the hoses if the hoses are pressurized 11 If a Sun Lift is located near an area where swimmers are prone to diving into the water such as off of a boathouse make sure they are aware of the location of the Sun Lift when boat is not present and lift is hidden under water 12 Do not power boat on lift Lower lift so boat glides into position Boat must be in neutral to minimize risk to propeller Lift is not designed to react to loads from boat engine s 13 Lift structure welds bolts pins and hydraulics must be inspected annually 14 The white Powerpack unit that houses the pump remote unit hydraulic fluid and battery can not be submerged in water Water levels can be unpredictable Take the necessary precautions to ensure the Powerpack is never submerged in water such as during flooding Raising the Powerpack up on blocks or a shelf can prevent water damage P O Box 187 Shelburne ON LIV 3L8 tel 416 564 2029
3. ervice Inc Safety Warnings Listed From the Manual Failure to comply with the following rules may result in severe injury and or death and damage to property Misuse of your lift may cause the lift and boat to become unstable 1 Your Sun Lift is a piece of heavy equipment and the act of raising your boat should be treated with respect and good judgement Children should not operate lift without adult supervision 2 No one should operate the lift without fully understanding the proper operating procedures 3 NEVER exceed the maximum capacity of the lift Overloading may result in mechanical failure and personal injury Positioning the boat too far forward or aft may overload the lift 4 Your lift is not designed to be an elevator for people Therefore do not use the lift for moving or supporting humans Load and Unload passengers only when boat is floating 5 Restrict children and adults from playing on or near the Sun Lift 6 It is safest to leave the boat in the over centre position 7 Be sure the Sun Lift remains level at all four corners Out of level installations may cause lift failure and personal injury All four corners must be within 2 of each other 8 NEVER go under your boat when the lift is in the raised position Also your lift is not design to be a maintenance platform Service and maintenance work on your boat should be performed at a proper marine facility and not while on your Sun Lift 9 Do not use your Pow
4. f load guides than the front one often is pretty close to the throttle but not always Raise the boat up approx 6 12 and have everyone exit the boat Examine the position of the boat on the lift If it needs to move ahead or backwards lower the lift at this time until the boat floats and move the boat by simply pushing it with your hand As you raise the boat up if it isn t centred port starboard than lower the lift a couple of taps on the remote and then raise it up and the boat will generally centre itself If you hear relatively loud noises from under the boat sometimes the boat s strakes line up fairly closely with the lifts lifting bunks Your lift may need a widening kit in order that it sits level but in most cases the boat centres itself automatically Bait While standing on your dock continue to raise your boat and inspect it as it 1s lifting As your lift nears the top you will notice that the lift goes a little beyond centre We call that over centre meaning that all the weight of the lift is off the hydraulic system This is a safety feature The hydraulic motor makes a different sound when the lift 1s all the way at the top or all the way at the bottom avoid going all the way to the bottom if possible Inboard Ski Boats Your prop 1s further forward than a stern drive boat To protect your prop ensure you are properly centred on the lift and that you have your boat in neutral when raising and lowering your boa
5. t on the lift We strongly recommend using our guide on attachments to aid in correctly positioning your boat on the lift as shown in the pics above The over centre position is how you want to store your boat when not in use especially for an extended period of time such as days weeks winter storage etc It is ok to leave your boat above the water but below the over centre position while you are on the dock for day use but be sure to return the lift to the over centre position before leaving the dock P O Box 187 Shelburne ON LIV 3L8 tel 416 564 2029 8 Pad Muichinson Sales and Service Inc e Lifts with a Canopy Under extreme high wind conditions the canopy top has the potential to act like a kite and move the entire lift but this will only happen if the boat is not on the lift In extreme high wind conditions your lift is most secure when the boat is on the lift e Ski Towers Bimini Tops Be careful when raising your lift to ensure your tower top does not hit the ceiling of your boathouse beams garage door openers or Sunstream Canopy tops You may clear it once but the next time you load your boat if you load the boat in a different position it may hit the ceiling garage door opener or ceiling beams You may have to lower your towers bimini s Make sure you consistently load your boat in the correct position each time Basic Troubleshooting e My lift does not work I use the remote and nothing happens Is
6. that point you can start your boat and lower the lift another 1 2 seconds 6 inches There is no need to lower your lift any further and by having the lift just barely below your boat it will make it easier when bringing your boat back onto the lift Do not power onto and off of the lift like you would when loading your boat on a trailer There may be too much friction especially when loading the boat on the lift and you may scratch your boat if it really digs into the bunks Loading your boat on the lift for the first tim Depending on your boating and docking experience it may take a few times to get the hang of driving your boat onto over the lift In general you want to line up the back of the lifting bunks with the stern of your boat Most of the weight of most boats is at the back There is a tendency not to bring the boat on far enough If you have a set of load guides white or black sleeves this will help you position your boat correctly on the lift Generally they line up with a the cleat at the back of your boat or approx Where the swim platform starts Have the remote control ready try to bring your boat in slowly float it over the lift and once you are in position press and hold the up button until you feel the bunks contact your boat P O Box 187 Shelburne ON LIV 3L8 tel 416 564 2029 8 Pad Muichinson Sales and Service Inc You will be able to feel when your boat is no longer floating If you have two sets o
