N ER A CH Ps Tr OVERTEMPERATURE SH S CUT OUT TESO b Gu THERMOSTAT A N ON OFF SWITCH MAIN POWER INLET HEATER CONNECTIONS 17 4 4 Removing front right hand panel To gain access to the water dispense tap Classic models it will be necessary to remove the front right hand panel of the machine The front panel is secured in position by a single screw To remove proceed as follows 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Remove the fixing screw from the top of the panel 3 Lift panel upwards and pull forwards to remove 4 On Classic models the front panel can be removed entirely leaving the dispense tap and tap lever visible 4 5 Water tank and heating system Description The water tank in Classic feature a long life heating element controlled by a fixed temperature thermostat In addition the water tank is fitted with an over temperature cut out to protect the machine in a boil dry situation 4 6 Heating element It is very unlikely that a heating element would fail in use The exception being if the machine has been switched on without water in the tank If a heating element fault is suspected the following test may be carried out if a circuit test meter is available Testing 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Remove the outer casing section 4 2 3 Locate the heating element terminals

3. also be followed If in doubt consult a qualified Electrical engineer The installation instructions should be carried out in the order given To avoid damage to the machine DO NOT connect the electrical supply until called for in these instructions Location The machine should be located in a dry area away from any areas of high humidity and well away from steam producing appliances such as dishwashers Steam and moisture have a detrimental effect on freeze dried ingredients used in Fountain cartridges Ingredients cartridges should be used in rotation and unused cartridges should be kept in a cool dry place The machine has a two metre electrical cable with moulded plug It therefore needs to be located within two metres of a 220 240v socket Electrical safety WARNING High voltages are present within the machine NEVER remove the covers of the machine without first disconnecting the power supply NEVER operate this machine without water in the tank Serious damage to the machine can result WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The mains lead of this plug is fitted with a moulded non rewireable plug If the socket outlets on your premises are not suitable for the plug supplied with this appliance the plug should be cut off and an appropriate one fitted Warning If you cut the plug off this appliance the plug should be completely disposed of If a cut plug were to be inserted into a live socket outlet a dangerous shock

5. in Classic proceed as follows 1 2 11 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply Drain the water tank Remove the rear cover Remove the top cover and back brace assembly by unscrewing screws at each end of brace assembly and nut and bolt in centre of tank top Top cover __ Pa I e I al Remove Back brace assembly d ich Remove Remove Ll Lift off complete top cover and back brace assembly as one item it may be necessary to spring out one of the cabinet sides to free the assembly Remove the front right hand panel to gain access to the water tap valve a Classic models remove the tap assembly by unscrewing the tap nut inside the tank Complete tank assembly can now be removed 22 4 10 Water dispense tap Classic models Fountain Classic models are fitted with a manually operated water dispense tap The tap is located behind the right hand front panel and is operated by pressing down on the plastic tap lever to dispense water Problems likely to be encountered with the tap will be water dripping after a prolonged period of use It is also possible that the tap will drip if the machine is switched off overnight The dripping is caused by the hot water in the tank cooling down and allowing the silicone sealing insert within the tap to contract This is one of the reasons why we recommend that Fountain servers are left switched on continuously It sh
6. on the underside of the tank in the back of the machine 4 Disconnect both of the terminals from the heating element 5 Using the test meter check that there is a circuit between the two terminals If there is no circuit the heating element has failed and will need to be replaced Tank l g SEA Element terminals Replacement 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply Remove the rear cover Drain the tank Disconnect the two terminals from the heating element noting their positions for replacement Undo and remove the fixing nuts from the element ends Remove the element from inside the tank Clean the sealing faces All traces of the old sealing washers must be removed before fitting a new element When fitting an element ensure that the fixing nuts are tight but do not allow tightening of these nuts to twist the element inside the tank After fitting refill the tank Reconnect the electrical supply and test the machine Check the element seals for leaks before replacing the rear cover eZ Ha 19 4 7 Thermostat Fountain servers are fitted with a very reliable snap action thermostat The thermostat is a fixed temperature device and maintains the water temperature at approximately 87 C There is also a higher temperature thermostat available which maintains the water temperature at approximately 90 92 C This is useful w
7. or aged or infirm persons Location The machine should be located in an area with an ambient temperature range of 5 C to 40 C 10 2 2 Installation and Operating Instructions 1 Position the machine in your customers desired location providing access to a suitable power supply The machine should be located on a suitable stand or table at a height of approximately 86cm The most suitable support is a Fountain base cabinet IMPORTANT Do not connect the machine to the power supply until the water tank has been filled with drinking water to the correct level Open the top cover of the machine and remove the water tank lid Fill the water tank to the water level mark with clean filtered drinking water Do not fill above the level mark as space is needed for water expansion Replace the water tank lid and close the top cover It is important to remember to replace the water tank lid as failure to do so will result in condensation forming on the underside of the top cover Connect the machine to the power supply and switch on Allow the machine to reach its operating temperature The time to reach correct temperature varies with each model Approximate times are as follows CF4 40 minutes CF6 55 minutes Installing Ingredient Cartridges Decide on a location for the placement for each cartridge Set the stroke adjusters to the recommended positions The following settings are recommended for use with 120ml water
8. state clearly the part number description and the quantity required It is very important that you state the serial number of the machine for which the spare part is required This will enable us to supply the correct item Most parts are interchangeable between all models and between variants of the same model except the following items Elements When ordering the above you must quote the machine model and serial number to ensure the correct part is supplied We suggest that all dealers carry the following spare parts This will ensure that any faults are rectified quickly Quantity Description Part NO 1 Heating Element 1000W H3019 1 Thermostat H1020 1 Reset H1027 10 Stroke adjuster B1005 2 Cartridge Holder B1133 2 Cartridge Holder B1135 4 Pull B1134 4 Pull B1136 1 Silicone tap insert X1042 It will also be necessary to have a small tube of silicone grease and a tube of silicone sealant An assortment of spare screws nuts and electrical terminals will also be useful SECTION 2 INSTALLATION 2 1 Introduction Fountain Servers should only be installed by suitably qualified personnel Even experienced Service engineers should read all of the instructions contained within this section before attempting to install a Fountain machine High voltages are present within the machine and all safe working practices must be followed Individual countries have different electrical regulations for machine installation and these must
9. tell your customer to leave the machine connected to the power and switched on at all times except holiday periods 12 SECTION 3 CLEANING amp SERVICING 3 1 Cleaning It is important that customers are advised to clean their Fountain machine on a regular basis Our recommended cleaning schedule is as follows Daily a Remove and wipe over stainless steel drip tray with a damp cloth b Remove and empty the plastic container located underneath the drip tray Weekly Wipe over the cabinet with a clean damp cloth Do not use any abrasive cleaners on the cabinet as this will have an adverse effect on the paint finish 3 2 Descaling the Water Tank At regular intervals depending on the water quality the water tank should be descaled Scale build up reduces the effectiveness of the heating equipment and an increase in noise when heating may be detected Everpure Scale Kleen should be used to descale the tank This can be supplied from your Fountain supplier Descaling instructions d Water within the tank should be at operating temperature as this speeds up the descaling process 2 Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 3 Slowly pour the descaling granules into the tank Stir to dissolve Use one 50g packet 4 Wait 30 40 minutes Check to see that all of the scale has gone 5 Drain the water from the tank using a syphon or by using a Fountain vacuum pump unit 6 Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean cold
10. water 7 Refill the tank with clean drinking water and reconnect the electrical supply 14 SECTION 4 REPATR 8 MAINTENANCE 4 1 Introduction This section gives detailed information on the repair of the Fountain dispenser should a fault occur For ease of use it has been divided into subsections covering the main systems within the machine It is important that only suitably qualified engineers work on Fountain equipment and that they are familiar with safe working practises and the regulations relating to the country in which the machines are installed If there is any doubt a qualified Electrical Engineer should be consulted It is recommended that even experienced service engineers familiarise themselves with the contents of this section before attempting any repair This is best achieved by working through this section with a machine in front of you The location of components such as the thermostat can then be established This is easier and gives a better impression to your customers than trying to locate a particular component at the site of a breakdown Remember to always disconnect the power supply from the machine before removing covers Never switch the machine on without water in the tank People generally accept that faults can occur It is therefore the effectiveness of the repair and the attitude of the distributor and service engineers which determine the customers response to the fault To provide an efficient re

12. abinet Front label printed in dark grey New style perforated stainless steel drip tray with injection moulded plastic drip tray underneath 1 3 Description of Operation Fountain servers are designed to use standard Fountain cartridges Water tanks are manually filled with clean drinking water Fountain machines can be plumbed into the water supply with the addition of a FA9 plumbing kit not CF2 models Water temperature is maintained via a non adjustable thermostat Ingredients are dispensed by placing a cup under the desired drink and pulling the dispense handle forwards to release the ingredients The cup is then moved to the water dispense position to add water On Classic models water is dispensed by a manually operated tap IS Ingredient gt N cartridges Ingredient di 1 Ispense pu Water dispense tap Drip tray Water dispense position 1 4 TOOL REQUIREMENTS The following tools are required for the installation and maintenance of Fountain servers No 2 pozidrive screwdriver No 2 pozidrive screwdriver short type No 1 pozidrive screwdriver Parallel screwdriver Small mains test screwdriver Wire cutters Long nose pliers Terminal crimping tool M3 x M3 5 spanner M4 spanner M5 spanner 19mm spanner Slip joint pliers Optional circuit tester for fault finding All of the above are available from Fountain 1 5 Spare Parts When ordering spare parts please
13. ely depend on their previous experience and their familiarity with the equipment It is therefore recommended that this manual is fully understood before a repair is carried out The list below gives some possibly obvious but nevertheless important points relating to equipment repair Ensure you have the necessary tools and spare parts before beginning Work safely following safe working practices and electrical regulations as applicable Work methodically thinking each step through before beginning Check that the machine is set up correctly CHECK do not assume replace or test one component at a time so that you can be sure when a fault is located Before removing a component or even a wire from a terminal be sure you know how it goes back together Label the wires or screws if necessary When removing wires pull the connector off the terminal do not pull the wire itself as you may pull it out of the connector In addition to checking components also check that wiring has not been disturbed modified or damaged Check all connection are good and that all circuit board plugs are pushed in fully While not always practical in some cases it is easier to replace a suspected component than to attempt to test it If a spare machine is available when a problem occurs there is then the option of replacing the machine and repairing the faulty machine back at the workshop 27 The following notes give possible
14. f the machine stops heating check to see if the cut out has operated To check cut out 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 To reset the cut out you need to push the small red button inwards You can do this by inserting an insulated screwdriver through the small hole in the back panel and pushing on the red button or you can remove the rear panel to gain access If the cut out has activated you will hear and feel a small click when the button is pressed ZO Overtemperature cut out Reset button 3 After resetting observe the machine during the heating cycle to ensure the problem does not re occur Replacing the cut out If the cut out switches off the supply to the heating element before the operating temperature is reached it will need to be replaced as follows 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Remove the rear cover and locate the cut out 3 Disconnect the wires to the cut out 4 Carefully slide the cut out upwards and out of the fixing bracket Fitting is the reverse of removal Locating Reset button When fitting ensure that the locating flanges are flange correctly positioned under the tank fixing bracket N After fitting reconnect the wires and replace the N rear cover C Reconnect the machine to the power supply and eg check that the machine reaches the correct temperature 21 4 9 Water tank removal To remove and replace water tanks
15. hazard would result Applicable to U K only The non rewireable plug fitted to this appliance is fitted with a detachable fuse cover Never use the plug with the cover omitted If a replacement fuse cover is required ensure it is of the same colour as that visible on the pin face of the plug black Fuse covers are available from your local Fountain dealer or from Fountain Manufacturing Ltd address on rating label on appliance Should the fuse need to be replaced an ASTA approved BS 1362 fuse rated at 13 amps must be used If you have to change the plug observe the following code Important The wires in the mains lead fitted to this appliance are coloured in accordance E with the following code E Green yellow Earth Mr Blue Neutral E Brown Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E d the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the de which is marked with the letter N or coloured black The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red Warning Fountain machines are not suitable for unsupervised use by young children
16. hen customers use china or ceramic coffee cups which require higher water temperatures to compensate for heat loss Replacing the thermostat If the thermostat needs replacing because of malfunction e g the water boils and thermostat fails to maintain correct temperature proceed as follows 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Remove the rear cover and locate the thermostat 3 Disconnect the wires to the thermostat 4 Carefully slide the thermostat upwards and out of the fixing bracket Fitting is the reverse of removal When fitting ensure that the locating flanges are correctly positioned under the tank fixing bracket After fitting reconnect the wires and replace the rear cover Reconnect the machine to the power supply and check that the machine reaches the correct temperature Thermostat Slide up to remove 4 8 Overtemperature Cut out This is a safety device which switches off the supply to the heating element if a failure within the water heating system causes the water in the tank to boil continuously This is to prevent damage caused by steam and to prevent damage to the machine caused by the tank boiling dry The cut out will also operate if the machine is switched on without water in the tank 20 When the cut out operates it is a warning that something is wrong It is therefore important that the source of the problem is found and resolved rather than just resetting the cut out I
17. ould never be necessary to replace a complete tap as these units are designed to last the life of a Fountain server The only item which will need replacing from time to time is the silicone insert To replace a silicone insert proceed as follows 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Drain the tank to a level below the tap outlet 3 Remove the front right hand panel 4 Remove the entire upper assembly by unscrewing the bonnet 5 Pull silicone insert to remove from stem Inspect for wear and hardening and replace if necessary 6 Snap silicone insert over stem end by applying direct pressure 7 Screw upper assembly back onto body HAND TIGHTEN ONLY _ Upper assembly Bonnet N TZ N Saz Ge N Silicone insert NOTE To dismantle the entire upper assembly carefully pull handle from stem while applying pressure to seat cup Remove spring stem and seat cup Reassemble in reverse 23 DESCRIPTION PART No 1 STANDARD FOUNTAIN TAP X1233 B 2 COMPLETE TAP TOP ASSEMBLY X1043 3 HANDLE X1102 4 BONNET X1103 5 SPRING X1105 6 STEM X1104 7 SILICONE INSERT X1042 8 TAP WASHER N4806 9 TAP NUT N1077 1 ANTI SPLASH FITTING Z1105 Ensure all of the parts especially the spring is assembled exactly as shown Taps fitted to fountain machines are fitted with a fitting to improve the flow of water from the tap and stop water splashing on to the
18. pair and maintenance service it is important that 1 Service engineers fully understand the operation of Fountain machines 2 Suitable tools are available 3 Suitable spare parts as recommended in section 1 of this manual are carried 4 A spare machine is available In the event of a fault occurring which cannot be easily resolved on site a replacement machine may be installed The faulty machine can then be repaired back at your workshops This is easier for you will not result in the loss of any ingredient sales and will limit the disruption to your customer Technical advice is available from your supplier and if necessary from the factory itself Should you need to contact us with a problem on a specific machine please have the serial number of the machine available This will assist us in identifying the problem 16 4 2 Access to internal components To gain access to internal components and controls it is necessary to remove the rear panel for access to the thermostat and heating element and to remove the front right hand panel for access to the water dispense components 4 3 Removing rear access panel 1 IMPORTANT Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply 2 Remove the two rear panel securing screws 3 Lift off the cover Lifting one side of the cover will enable you to release the bottom locating clips 4 Internal components are now accessible Component identification Rear of machine
19. scription of operation and a list of the tools required for installation and servicing All spare parts for the Fountain Machines are available and it is recommended that certain spare parts are stocked by Service Engineers A list of these is included in section 1 Section 2 gives a step by step guide to installing the machine To avoid damage to the machine and possible injury to the installer the installation instructions must be followed in the sequence given After installing a machine it is important that the installer familiarises the customer or end users with its operation A demonstration on cleaning as shown in section 3 should be given The importance of regular cleaning should be emphasised to the customer Section 4 describes in detail the various systems operating within Fountain Machines The testing and replacing of each component is explained should a fault occur General information on fault finding and a chart for quickly identifying the most common problems is given in section 5 Section 6 contains copies of the various circuit diagrams and section 7 gives spare parts ordering information and assembly drawings Whilst the machines have been designed for ease of maintenance an understanding of safe electrical working practices is essential to prevent damage to the machine and potentially serious injury to the person carrying out the maintenance or to the users of the machine This manual is for reference only and cannot
20. server It may be necessary to replace this fitting when it becomes scaled up with calcium and mineral salts from the water d ee 4 12 Front right hand panel Internal components Classic models The front panel on the Classic models has three replaceable parts tap lever tap lever surround and the front panel label To remove the front panel follow the instructions in section 4 4 The tap lever is a simple snap fit into the cabinet of the machine and is easily replaced if it is damaged or worn The tap lever surround is also a snap in component and can also be easily replaced To replace the front panel label it is necessary to remove the tap lever surround The label can then be removed by lifting one corner and pulling the label off The replacement label can then be applied by removing the backing paper and carefully fixing the label into the recess of the front panel Make sure the label is carefully smoothed down with no air bubbles The aperture for the tap lever surround should then be cut out with a sharp craft knife Replace the tap lever surround by snapping into position 4 16 On Off switch replacement The on off switch located on the side of the server can be replaced if faulty These switches are snap fitted into a rectangular hole in the machine cabinet It is quite difficult to remove these switches and a screwdriver may have to be used to pr

22. y the switch out The switch is held in by two plastic clips on the switch body These clips need to be compressed to the switch body to release the switch Please remember to disconnect power before replacing a switch It will be necessary to remove the rear cover and disconnect the wires to the switch before removal 4 17 Top cover removal and replacement The top cover can be removed and replacements fitted by removing the two securing screws There is a certain amount of adjustment on these screws to enable the cover to be aligned correctly with the machine cabinet Top cover car r nn 25 SECTION 5 FAULT FINDING 5 Fault Finding Every Fountain machine is tested before leaving the factory The tests carried out include electrical safety tests as required by the approval authorities Failures can still occur for a number of reasons Damage in transit incorrect installation or set up lack of cleaning maintenance or component failure may all cause faults However the fault occurs it is important that it is rectified as quickly and efficiently as possible If this is seen to be done the customers response is likely to be favourable rather than the reverse Most people accept that faults can and do occur It is the attitude of the distributor and service engineers which determines the customers view of the service provided The ability of the service engineers to locate faults quickly will larg
