3. 2 Quick set Up Guide 1 Position Poacher Catcher about 1 5M above the ground You may mount Poacher Catcher horizontally or vertically whichever gives the best result in your specific situation 2 Make sure that the sensor is clear of obstruction and is aligned in the direction that you want to monitor 3 Poacher Catcher can detect intruders up to 10M away but keep in mind that sensitivity depends on the size of the body and speed of movement Poacher Catchers are most sensitive to bodies moving ACROSS the field of view rather than towards or away 4 When you turn Poacher Catcher ON there is a 30 second Walk Test period before the system becomes active see point 5 for instructions This is to allow you ample time to ensure correct positioning using the Walk Test light A Walk Test is the deliberate activation of the sensor within the Poacher Catcher to ensure correct positioning This can be done by walking in front of the unit The Walk Test light will stay on whilst it detects movement and will stay on until movement ceases Poacher Catcher will not make any calls within this Walk Test period 5 Walk Test Instructions i Switch Poacher Catcher ON ii The system needs to initialise The Walk Test light will flash 3 times and then be solid for 7 seconds The light will then flash once per second iii You should now perform your Walk Test this is the deliberate activation of the sensor by walking in front of the unit

The Poacher Catcher has an internal clock which will be set accurately before despatch However on rare occasions this clock may need re setting this happens occasion ally if the battery completely runs flat It also does not update automatically when the time changes in Autumn and Spring To reset the internal clock the Poacher Catcher must be on charge in an area with good mobile phone signal The Poacher Catcher will set it s clock to the time the following text is sent Send this text message to the phone number of the Poacher Catcher Settime You will then receive a status report back from the Poacher Catcher confirming the updated time Timer It is possible to control the operation of the Poacher Catcher via an internal timer The Poacher Catcher can be set to be active within one or two time ranges within the 24 hour day These settings are optional and the default setting is ON for 24 hours a day Poacher Catcher has two active time ranges A amp B which can be set via text message The time ranges that you set determine the time during which Poacher Catcher will be ON and active Usually you only need to set time range A 1 Setting ON time range A Example To set the active or ON period for range A to between 7pm and 6am send this text to the phone number of Poacher Catcher OTA19 00to06 000ta 19 00to06 00 is the new ON period A range in 24 hour format The word to must be between the ON t

The walk test light will stay on whilst it detects movement iv When you are happy that Poacher Catcher is positioned correctly leave unit in position with NO activations for 30 seconds After this 30 second period the light will stop flashing and the Poacher Catcher becomes live 6 After the Walk Test period the light will not flash even when an intruder has been detected Your Poacher Catcher is now ready for use IF YOUR ARE USING A PAY AS YOU GO SIM CARD IN YOUR POACHER CATCHER PLEASE ENSURE THAT IT MAKES AT LEAST ONE COMPLETED CALL OR TEXT EVERY 3 MONTHS IF NOT YOUR NETWORK PROVIDER MAY DE REGISTER THE SIM CARD Poacher Catcher relies on there being a mobile network signal present It is the users responsibility to ensure that there is a reliable signal for your chosen network in the area you are going to use your Poacher Catcher Without a signal even if Poacher Catcher detects an intruder it will not be able to send you an alert Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 3 Operation Information Poacher Catcher uses a sensitive Passive Infra Red PIR to detect the movement of heat moving across its viewing range Poacher Catcher will detect bodies and vehicles However to eliminate false alarms please ensure Poacher Catcher is not in an environment where heat differentials may be detected For example pointed towards a radiator or other heat source From detection of a body the first recipient should r

8. below You can also check the Poacher Catcher battery life SIM card credit mobile phone signal and timer settings by sending the following text to Poacher Catcher Status These commands are not case sensitive Please note that Poacher Catcher will not respond immediately when on battery power see information on page 5 Phonebook Status A typical response may look like this A typical response may look like this Poacher Catcher Phonebook Poacher Catcher Status PBA 44xXXXXXXXXX 12 27 PBB 44yyyyyyyyy Credit 10 61 Battery 100 O2 Signal Good OTA 19 00t006 00 OTB 00 00t000 00 Alerts enabled Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 7 Changing The Installed SIM Card Poacher Catcher is normally supplied with a pre programmed Pay as you Go SIM card Should it become appropriate to change the SIM card for any reason e g to switch to a more suitable network the procedure described below must be followed in order to ensure that the new SIM card has the correct information set for Poacher Catcher to function properly 1 Switch off Poacher Catcher and unplug the charger Remove the back cover by unscrewing the 6 small screws Carefully remove the battery link by pulling it upwards off two metal pins a Eject the current SIM card by pushing it in slightly until it clicks Release the pressure and it will then spring out so that you can remove it 5 Insert the new card as shown on the picture
9. dafone Orange amp T mobile do not support this feature Although Poacher Catcher can run on stand by for up to three months on a single charge each time a phone alert or text message is sent the battery will be slightly depleted Depending on usage it may be necessary to recharge more frequently to ensure reliable operation at all times Time for charge from fully discharged to fully charged is typically 10 hours Notes 1 Poacher Catcher is waterproof To ensure it remains waterproof the rubber bung provided for the charger socket must be used 2 This unit incorporates mobile phone technology Do not mount the unit on or in a metal container or a wall with metal fittings embedded as this may affect the transmission capability of the system Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 4 Setting the Programmed Phone Numbers Important When on charge Poacher Catcher checks for messages once a minute However on battery power it will check for messages at approximately 12 00noon each day If you are going to send any of the following updates to your Poacher Catcher we recommend that you do so while charging so that the updates are registered immediately The phone number s that Poacher Catcher will call when an alert is triggered will probably have been preset for you when you placed your order The phone numbers for ringing alerts are programmed into Poacher Catcher by sending a text SMS message direct to the uni
10. eceive a call within about 30 seconds If the unit is on charge this is reduced to 10 seconds Poacher Catcher will always automatically call all pre programmed numbers in sequence If the switch is set to OFF the unit will stop any activity If an alert has already been started it may take a few moments for the sequence to end as with all mobile equipment the modem must register a disconnect from the mobile phone network first If the call from Poacher Catcher is not answered and does not go to a voicemail there is no charge made to the SIM Card If the call is ignored your SIM card credit will not be affected Note that you should make sure that the receiving phone does not switch to Voice Message automatically as this will register as a received call Poacher Catcher has been set to ring for a limited time to reduce the risk of the call going through to voicemail Text SMS messages are charged at the standard network rate and if this option is enabled you should make sure that you monitor the remaining SIM credit diligently Poacher Catcher is normally supplied with a Pay as you Go SIM Card It is the user s responsibility to ensure that the card is kept in credit and that a paid for call Is made at least once every three months If your credit falls below 2 00 Poacher Catcher will send you a text message when put on charge or if an alert is sent Please note that this only applies to SIM cards provided by O2 and Vo
11. eed Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 10 Troubleshooting How do I know Poacher Catcher is positioned correctly Poacher Catcher has a walk test light see Quick Set Up Guide on page 3 When first placed in position and switched on you have a Walk test period of at least 30 seconds to test the position before Poacher Catcher connects to the network and becomes live You should do the walk test in the area in which you wish intruders to be detected This is done by deliberately trying to activate Poacher Catcher If the light goes on when you do this walk test you have been detected by the Poacher Catcher and it is positioned correctly How do I know that my Poacher Catcher is connecting to the Network properly Poacher Catcher has a network light positioned inside the unit To view this you will need to unscrew the back plate and the light is positioned as shown on page 8 When connected to the mobile phone network the network light should flash briefly every two seconds If it flashes continuously no connection has been made Please note that whilst on battery power Poacher Catcher will only try to connect to the mobile phone network when the sensor is activated On mains power Poacher Catcher is always connected to the network If the Network light indicates that Poacher Catcher is not connecting to the network you should check the following a Is there a network signal in this area Check w

13. ime and OFF time and may be upper or lower case and there must be no spaces between any of the letters or numbers You will receive a response as detailed below 2 Setting ON time range B This is only used if you want a second active time period Example To set the active or ON period for range B to between 11am and 1pm send these times to the phone number of Poacher Catcher OTB11 00to13 000tb e 11 00t013 00 is the new ON time B range in 24 hour format Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 6 Switching the unit OFF ON remotely To remotely switch your Poacher Catcher OFF send this text message to the phone number of the Poacher Catcher Disable This prevents Poacher Catcher from sending alerts regardless of the timer settings and any activity Poacher Catcher will remain disabled until you send the Enable command To remotely switch your Poacher catcher ON send this text message to the phone number of the Poacher Catcher Enable This puts Poacher Catcher back into normal operation so that it will respond to alerts again Note that with Poacher Catcher enabled On amp Off times will be governed by the timer settings described on page 6 The word Disable or Enable may be in UPPER or lower case or a combination Status Reports You can check the current phonebook settings by sending the following text to the phone number of Poacher Catcher Phonebook You will receive a response as detailed
14. ith a normal mobile phone on the same network b Has your SIM card got adequate credit To summarise Slow amp even flashes every second Poacher Catcher is searching for a network A brief flash every two seconds Poacher Catcher has connected Poacher Catcher is connecting to the network but no alerts are received After the initial Walk Test period if your Poacher Catcher does not make a call when activated it is likely that an incorrect number has been programmed Refer to page 5 to re programme the correct phone number If you are in doubt place your Poacher Catcher on charge in an area where you have a good mobile phone signal and send your Poacher Catcher the status or phonebook text see page 7 You will then receive a response with all the programmable details for Poacher Catcher If still in doubt please contact the supplier Poacher Catcher User Guide Rev firmware 6 09 Page 11 Caring for your Poacher Catcher Use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe the Poacher Catcher clean Never use abrasive cleaners or organic solvents which may damage certain parts Treat the unit with care and avoid spillage or leakage of liquids into the case Special care should be taken to avoid liquid entering via the connection sockets Do not use or leave the Poacher Catcher in direct sunlight It is best to avoid locations where excessive heat humidity dust and vibration are expected Always keep Poacher Catcher free from dust and moisture
