TOYOTA Category 1 Alarm System Operating Instructions For Vehicles with Smart Entry with Selective Unlock First edition May 2012 Sigma 2012 Publication number TOYOPUKS32SE 1 32 GT86 2012MY gt This Manual Please take time to familiarise yourself with the contents of this manual covering the operation of your TOYOTA alarm system Please pay particular attention to the sections covering Double Locking Internal Movement Tilt Sensor and Emergency Override Procedure Please refer to your TOYOTA Centre should you require further guidance in relation to the operation of your TOYOTA alarm Contents 1 Introduction 2 Standard operation of the alarm system 3 Important Double locking Single Locking 4 Important Internal Movement and Tilt Sensor 5 Important Emergency Override Procedure using the Multi Function Keypad 6 Trouble shooting 1 Introduction About the Alarm System Operated correctly your TOYOTA alarm system will provide user friendly trouble free operation and protect your vehicle against today s sophisticated thief However the alarm system is designed as a deterrent against the theft of or from a vehicle and as such cannot offer any guarantee against such occurrences Always follow the advice of the Police lock your vehicle at all times park in a well lit area whenever possible and never leave valuable items in a vehicle where they can be seen Your TOYOTA alarm system complies with the Thatcham MI
2. entry through the vehicle s windows whilst the ultrasonic sensors are omitted or detect if the vehicle is jacked or towed whilst the Tilt sensor is omitted The alarm system can be armed without internal movement sensors and Tilt sensor monitoring using the Multi Function Keypad Arming the Alarm System without Ultrasonic Interior Protection and Tilt Sensor monitoring Using the alarm systems Multi Function Keypad located in the vehicle glove storage compartment before exiting the vehicle e With the vehicle ignition on press digit 5 on the Keypad e Turn off the vehicle s ignition within 5 seconds of using the Keypad e Vacate the vehicle closing all doors trunk and bonnet e Lock the vehicle using the Smart Key lock button e The alarm system is now armed without ultrasonic interior protection or Tilt sensor monitoring Please note deleting the sensors as described will omit the sensor s for one arming period only Should you wish to continue to use the system in part armed mode you will need to repeat the process for each arming period ED TOYOTA revl 4 5 Important Emergency Override Procedure using the Multi Function Keypad Please note if all Smart Keys are lost the vehicle will have to be recovered to a TOYOTA Centre In the event of total Smart Key loss or failure it is possible to override the alarm system using the alarm Multi Function Keypad The Multi Function Keypad is located within the glove storage compartmen

RRC criteria The Thatcham MIRRC organisation was set up on behalf of the ABI Association of British Insurers to establish design and manufacturing quality standards for vehicle security systems Alarm systems complying with the Thatcham MIRRC criteria are rigorously tested for quality functionality electro magnetic interference resilience and the ability to resist physical and electronic attack Your Alarm System complies with the following criteria e European Vehicle Security Directive 95 54 EC EMC e European Vehicle Security Directive 74 61 EC Security e ECE Regulation 97 EC Type Approval Number e11 03 7634 e Thatcham Category 1 approved Sigma S32 alarm immobiliser for the TOYOTA GT86 2012 gt Model Year e MIRRC Evaluation Number TC2 1406 0707 Immunity Information e If any loss is caused by fire action of a third party or other accidents or the users deliberate or accidental misuse incorrect use or use under abnormal conditions repair of the product will be charged to the customer e Toyota Motor Europe NV SA is not liable for any incidental loss caused by the use or non use of this product e Toyota Motor Europe NV SA is not liable for any damages or incidents consequent to intentional misuse accidental misuse or third party use of the device e The alarm system will not prevent the car from being stolen OD CW TOYOTA l ea 2 Standard Operation of the Alarm System Arming the Alarm System e Vacate the vehicle

YOTA 3 ia 3 amp Important Double Locking Single locking All UK models are equipped with Double Locking please consult your vehicle handbook for details People should not be left inside a double locked vehicle under any circumstances Double locking will occur whenever the alarm system is armed manually by pressing the Lock button on the Smart Key When double locked the vehicles doors cannot be opened internally If the vehicle is double locked in error with an occupant inside the vehicle the vehicle should be unlocked immediately and a door must also be opened within 30 seconds of unlocking the vehicle to prevent the system re arming and re locking Single Locking will occur if the alarm system is armed by pressing the Lock button on the Smart Key and then disarmed by pressing the Unlock button on the Smart key If the doors trunk or bonnet are not opened within a 30 second period the doors on the vehicle will re lock and the alarm will arm When single locked the doors on the vehicle can be opened internally 4 4 Important Internal Movement and Tilt Sensor Your TOYOTA alarm system is fitted with ultrasonic internal movement sensors used to monitor the vehicle s interior compartment and a Tilt sensor designed to trigger the alarm system if an attempt to tow the vehicle or jack the vehicle to remove any of the vehicle wheels occurs whilst the alarm system is armed In certain circumstances it will be nece
5. also considered before a trigger occurs Unlike conventional ultrasonic detectors this system prevents false alarms and ensures that an actual entry has occurred eliminating any false triggers caused by seat belt movement or air pressure change ag 2 TOYOTA Whenever the Alarm System is armed e Initially the status LED flashes green for the first 15 seconds This is the Settle time during this period the ultrasonic sensors are inactive Settle time allows the air movement inside the vehicle to stabilise e The status LED will then flash bright amber for the next 15 seconds This is the Threshold time during this period the ultrasonic sensors are active The alarm system s Microprocessor monitors the interior of the vehicle and will reduce the programmed sensitivity if any background movement is detected that would cause a false alarm If such movement is detected the amber LED will illuminate for one second indicating the sensitivity has been reduced e After the first 32 seconds the status LED will then continue to flash red The system is now fully armed and the ultrasonic sensitivity will be set to the programmed maximum or to a reduced level if any background movement was detected during the Threshold time If the Alarm System is triggered If the alarm system is triggered the hazard warning lights will flash and the siren will sound at full power for approximately 30 seconds after which the hazard lights and siren will

7. le handbook for more information relating to using the Emergency Key When a vehicle key is lost If the key remains lost the risk of vehicle theft increases significantly Please visit any TOYOTA Centre or another duly qualified and equipped professional centre immediately with all remaining keys that were provided with your vehicle revl 6 Trouble Shooting Please use this section as a reference guide to common alarm fault diagnosis If the problem persists please refer to a TOYOTA Centre Fault Siren bleeps when vehicle locked followed by the alarm triggering and the siren sounding Possible cause 1 Bonnet open 2 Bonnet switch damaged or requires adjustment Recommended action 1 Bonnet open Close bonnet and re arm the alarm system 2 Bonnet switch damaged or requires adjustment please refer to a TOYOTA Centre Fault Alarm system activates with no apparent cause Possible cause Window s or air vent s open Recommended action Close open window s or air vent s or arm the alarm system without the ultrasonic sensors Please refer to section 4 Possible cause Moving items in the vehicle such as suspended air fresheners Recommended action Remove the item and re arm the alarm Possible cause Alarm requires adjustment Recommended action Refer to TOYOTA Centre A The alarm system operates from your vehicles Smart Key if the Smart Key is not operational please consult a TOYOTA Centre Please refer to your vehi
8. s within range or press the Smart Key unlock button once The vehicles hazard warning lights will flash twice The driver s door will unlock Depending upon the vehicle locking configuration the passenger door and trunk may also unlock The alarm system will disarm and the status LED will stop flashing To unlock the remaining doors and trunk e After unlocking the driver s door press the Smart Key unlock button again The vehicle s hazard warning lights will flash twice The passenger door and trunk will unlock NB If three bleeps are emitted from the siren when the vehicle is unlocked disarmed the alarm system has been triggered whilst armed A Please refer to your vehicle handbook for more information relating to the operation of the Smart Key Automatic Re Locking amp Re Arming The vehicle incorporates an automatic Re Locking feature that facilitates the Re Arming of the alarm If the vehicle is unlocked disarmed but a door or the trunk is not opened to gain access to the vehicle after 30 seconds the doors will automatically Re Lock and the alarm system will Re Arm at the same time NB When Re locking occurs it will always single lock the vehicle returning the vehicle to a locked state Ultrasonic Interior Protection Your TOYOTA alarm system is fitted with ultrasonic internal movement sensors In addition to monitoring the degree of movement within the passenger compartment the duration of any movement is
9. ssary to arm your alarm system in Part Armed mode omitting the ultrasonic internal movement and or Tilt sensor Arming the alarm system without the ultrasonic sensors will be necessary if you wish to leave a pet inside a secured vehicle or leave the vehicle with the windows open In both cases sensible safety precautions should be exercised if considering this action as the alarm will no longer detect entry through the vehicle s windows whilst the ultrasonic sensors are omitted The alarm system can be armed without internal movement sensors using the Multi Function Keypad located within the vehicles passenger glove storage compartment Arming the Alarm System without Ultrasonic Interior Protection Using the alarm systems Multi Function Keypad located in the vehicle glove storage compartment before exiting the vehicle e With the vehicle ignition on press digit 2 on the Keypad e Turn off the vehicle s ignition within 5 seconds of using the Keypad e Vacate the vehicle closing all doors trunk and bonnet e Lock the vehicle using the Smart Key lock button e The alarm system is now armed without ultrasonic interior protection Arming the security system without ultrasonic interior protection and Tilt sensor monitoring may be necessary if you are travelling on a ferry or towing the vehicle but still wish it to be secured Sensible safety precautions should be exercised if considering this action as the alarm will no longer detect
10. stop the alarm system remains armed ready for any further attack The alarm system has an anti nuisance feature allowing each protected circuit to trigger a maximum 10 times in any armed period after which the circuit causing the continual trigger will shut down leaving all other circuits protected Disarming the Alarm System whilst the siren is still sounding e If inside the vehicle at the time turn the ignition off and open and then close a door e Pull the driver s door handle whilst the Smart Key is within range or press the Smart Key unlock button once The vehicles hazard warning lights will flash twice with each press of the unlock button The driver s door only will unlock Depending on locking configuration the passenger door and trunk may also unlock The alarm system will disarm and the status LED will stop flashing The siren will sound 3 bleeps to indicate a trigger has occurred Disarming the Alarm System after a trigger has occurred e Pull the driver s door handle whilst the Smart Key is within range or press the Smart Key unlock button once The vehicles hazard warning lights will flash twice with each press of the unlock button The driver s door only will unlock Depending on locking configuration the passenger door and trunk may also unlock The alarm system will disarm and the status LED will stop flashing The siren will sound 3 bleeps to indicate a trigger has occurred Ss N WA TO
11. t found on the passenger side of the vehicle Your alarm system is supplied with two foil stickers that show the systems unique pre programmed Personal Identification Number PIN and serial number These should be kept in a safe place The PIN is required to override the alarm system in the event of Smart Key loss or failure Disarming the Alarm System using the Multi Function Keypad If the vehicle s Smart Key fails to operate the alarm system due to a depleted battery in the remote or total loss or damage the alarm system can be disarmed using the Multi Function Keypad To do this e Unlock the vehicle manually using the Emergency Key and enter the vehicle The alarm will trigger and the siren will sound Enter the four digits corresponding to the alarm system PIN into the Keypad The alarm system will disarm Arming the Alarm System using the Multi Function Keypad If the vehicles Smart Key Remote fails to operate the alarm system due to a depleted battery in the remote or total loss or damage the alarm system can be armed using the Multi Function Keypad To do this e Enter the vehicle using the passenger door e Enter the four digits corresponding to the alarm system PIN into the Keypad The alarm system will arm The siren will bleep repeatedly whilst the passenger door is open e Close the passenger door and lock the vehicle manually from the driver s door using the Emergency Key A Please refer to your vehic
12. with the Smart Key closing all windows doors trunk and bonnet e Press the Smart Key lock button The vehicles hazard warning lights will flash once The vehicles doors and trunk will double lock The alarm system will arm and the status Light Emitting Diode LED will start to flash NB The alarm LED is located to the lower right hand side of the steering column The alarm system will then enter a pre set state this state is used by the alarm systems Microprocessor to monitor the vehicles internal environment before setting the sensitivity of the ultrasonic sensors If a door has been inadvertently left open the vehicles Smart Key lock button will not operate ensure all doors are firmly closed and then press the Smart Key lock button again If the vehicle s bonnet is fully open the vehicle doors will lock and the alarm will arm however the siren will bleep Perimeter Warning Bleeps repeatedly for 15 seconds as a warning to close the bonnet Press the Smart Key unlock button the vehicle hazard warning lights will flash twice the vehicle doors will unlock and the alarm will disarm close the bonnet then press the Smart Key lock button the vehicle hazard warning lights will flash once the doors will lock and the alarm will arm If the bonnet is not shut within 15 seconds of arming after Perimeter Warning Bleeps the alarm system will trigger Disarming the Alarm System e Pull the driver s door handle whilst the Smart Key i
