1. 1 Technical Data KERN HDB 5K5 HDB 10K10 Readout d 59 109 Weighing range Max 5 kg 10kg 2 Fundamental information general 2 1 Intended use The balance you have acquired serves to determine the weigh ing value of the material to be weighed It is intended to be used as a non automatic balance i e the material to be weighed is manually and carefully attached at the balance The weighing value can be read off after a stable weighing value has been obtained 2 2 Inappropriate use Do not use the balance for dynamic weighing In the event that small quantities are removed or added to the material to be weighed incorrect weighing results can be displayed due to the stability compensation in the balance Example Slow drain ing off of liquid from a container suspended from the balance Do not attach a continuous load This can damage the measur ing unit as well as the parts relevant to safety Prevent jolts torsion and oscillation e g by appending slop ingly of all kinds Be sure to prevent overloading the balance in excess of the stated maximum load max minus any tare weight that may possibly exist This could damage the balance risk of breakage Important e Always make sure that there are no people or materi als below the load that could be injured or damaged e The balance is not suitable for weighing people Do not use as baby scales e The balance does not comply with the medic2. al prod uct law MPG Never operate the balance in hazardous locations The series design is not explosion proof Structural alterations may not be made to the balance This can lead to incorrect weighing re sults faults concerning safety regulations as well as to destruc tion of the balance The balance may only be used in compli ance with the described guidelines Varying areas of applica tion planned use must be approved by KERN in writing 2 3 Guarantee The guarantee is not valid following e non observation of our guidelines in the operating instructions e use outside the described applications e alteration to or opening of the device e mechanical damage and damage caused by media liquids e natural wear and tear e inappropriate erection or electric installation e overloading of the measuring equipment 2 4 Monitoring the test substances The metrology features of the balance and any possible avail able adjusting weight must be checked at regular intervals within the scope of quality assurance For this purpose the answerable user must define a suitable interval as well as the Operating Instructions Hanging Balance nature and scope of this check Information is available on KERN s home page www kern sohn com with regard to the monitoring of balance test substances and the test weights required for this Test weights and balances can be adjusted quickly and at a reasonable price in KERN s accredited DKD calibratio

4. ions please follow the se quence of operations below Switch on the balance and keep pressing the HOLD key until H x appears on the display The currently activated function is shown above H1 H6 and by a triangle on the display To select one of the functions please press the ON OFF TARE key The setting is stored by briefly press ing the HOLD key Hold The HOLD function allows the fixed display of weighing values for longer periods of time Depending on the operating range the ON OFF switch criteria may be selected from 4 options H1 H4 e Selecting the setting H1 freezes the weighing values for 5 seconds after the HOLD key was operated e Selecting H2 freezes the weighing values from operating the HOLD key until another key is pressed e Selecting H3 freezes the weighing values automatically for 5 seconds e Selecting H4 freezes the weighing values automatically until a key is pressed H5 Animal weighing This function is suitable for unsteady weighing procedures A mean value is derived from 16 weighing values This requires the following setting Repeatedly press ON OFF TARE until H5 appears The setting is stored by briefly pressing the HOLD key To select the animal weighing function press the HOLD key On the bottom left of the display a triangle will start flashing Weighing values are recorded as long as the triangle continues flashing 3 sec Afterwards the ave
