1. kettle is overfilled 4 Replace the lid pushing until it clicks into place Plug the power cord into a socket and switch on Press down the kettle on off switch The indicator light will show the kettle is boiling 5 The kettle will switch off automatically when the water has boiled and the power indicator light will turn off The kettle can be switched off at any time before the water boils simply by lifting up the on off switch 6 Lift the kettle by its handle and pour the water To re boil wait a few seconds before pressing the on off switch again After use the kettle should be emptied of water and stored on its base Switch off at the socket and unplug CAUTION always make sure the kettle is switched off before lifting it off the base To prevent scalding never open the lid when water is boiling or steam is coming out of the spout BOIL DRY PROTECTION If the kettle is switched on with too little or no water it will cut out automatically to stop it boiling dry To reset the on off switch lift the kettle off the base and let it cool before filling with water then put it back on the base The kettle should now work as normal HELPFUL HINTS 1 Always use fresh cold water each time you boil the kettle 2 In some areas water appears cloudy because of calcium This is normal and becomes transparent when boiled 3 Ensure the lid is securely in place whenever the kettle is in use If not boiling water may splash2. use by children or infirm people unless they have been adequately supervised by a responsible person to ensure they can use it safely Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the kettle It must not be left unattended during use 19 Do not use the kettle if the power cord or plug show any signs of damage or if the appliance is dropped damaged or working incorrectly Call the helpline on 015394 88100 to arrange a repair or replacement Never try to repair the kettle yourself as this may cause electric shock USING YOUR KETTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME Carefully unpack the kettle and remove any packaging The kettle is cordless and its 360 base is suitable for left or right handed use Place the kettle and base on a level sturdy and dry surface well away from the edge Wrap any excess cord beneath the base for safety Before using the kettle to make drinks we recommend you fill it with fresh water and boil two or three times discarding the water each time The filter can also be removed and rinsed in clean water BOILING WATER 1 Before putting the kettle onto its base ensure the on off switch is in the off position Make sure the base is unplugged 2 Remove the lid Lift the kettle off its base and fill with fresh cold water through the lid opening not the spout 3 Put the kettle back on its base and check the water level is no less than 0 5 litre no more than 1 7 litre Boiling water may escape if the

6. is level sturdy and dry Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the worktop or table where a child could grab it Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces or become tangled Excess cord can be stored beneath the base The kettle should not be used with an extension lead Do not place the kettle on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in or near a heated oven Do not sit the kettle and base on a metal tray To protect against electric shock do not immerse the kettle base power cord or plug in water or any other liquid Never touch with wet hands and do not let the cord or plug get wet Lift the kettle off the base before filling Never fill above the maximum level as hot water may spurt out Always fill above the minimum level to prevent the kettle boiling dry Plug the kettle into the mains socket before switching it on To prevent scalding do not remove the lid whilst water is boiling Beware of steam from the spout or lid especially when refilling Wait for the kettle to switch off automatically before lifting it off the base Please take great care when lifting carrying or pouring a kettle of boiling water Do not touch hot kettle surfaces Use the handle for lifting and carrying Let the kettle cool completely before cleaning Always unplug the kettle after use and before cleaning Grasp the plug not the power cord 17 Never insert any objects into the kettle 18 The kettle is not intended for
7. out and the kettle may not switch off automatically 4 If water is spilled onto the 360 base please unplug the kettle from the mains socket before mopping up the liquid Ensure that the base and central socket are completely dry before using the kettle 5 If you see any small droplets of water on the base this is harmless condensation TROUBLESHOOTING If the power indicator light does not come on make sure the power cord is plugged in and the socket is switched on check the socket by trying it with another appliance check the fuse in the plug and make sure the connections in the plug are secure If in doubt consult a qualified electrician If the kettle is switched on but does not boil does the kettle need descaling Limescale build up can affect its performance See DESCALING 7 has it accidentally been switched on with too little or no water If so the boil dry protection will be activated See BOIL DRY PROTECTION CARE AND CLEANING Unplug the kettle and let it cool completely before cleaning The outside of the kettle may be wiped over with a damp cloth then a soft dry cloth Do not use harsh chemicals steel wool or abrasive cleaners as they will damage the kettle CAUTION never immerse the kettle base cord or plug in water or any other liquid OSS DESCALING Over time limescale in tap water can build up inside the kettle reducing its efficiency We recommend descaling the kettle regularly usin
8. plug If for any reason you need to fit a new plug the flexible mains lead must be connected as shown here The wires in the mains lead fitted to this appliance are coloured in accordance with the following code Earth green yellow Live brown Connect BLUE to Neutral N Connect GREEN amp YELLOW to Earth E Connect BROWN to Live L 13 amp fuse to be used If the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance do not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows The wire which is coloured green and yellow MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter E Earth or coloured green The wire which is coloured blue MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N Neutral or coloured black The wire which is coloured brown MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L Live or coloured red Before refitting the plug cover check that there are no cut or stray strands of wire inside the plug Use a 13 amp BS1362 fuse Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses should be used If you are at all unsure which plug or fuse to use always refer to a qualified electrician Note after replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug which has a fuse cover the cover must be refitted to the plug the appliance must not be used without a fuse cover If lost replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an electric
