1. SYMPTOM The walking belt slips when walked on a First remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both idler roller screws clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walk ing belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and carefully walk on the tread mill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened SYMPTOM The console display has lines running through it a 28 If lines appear in the console display see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 24 and adjust the contrast level of the display EXERCISE GUIDELINES 44 WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physi cian This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre existing health problems The heart rate monitor is not a medical device Various factors may affect the accuracy of heart rate readings The heart rate monitor is intended only as an exercise aid in determin ing heart rate trends in general These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program For detailed exercise information obtain a reputable book or consult your physician Remember proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or t

See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the tread mill frame with your right hand Then pull the latch knob to the left IMPORTANT Do not turn the latch knob If necessary push the frame forward slightly Pivot the frame downward a few inches and release the latch knob 2 See drawing 1 at the left Hold the metal frame To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight CAUTION Do not hold the frame by the plastic Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in foot rails and do not drop the frame Bend your temperatures above 85 F 30 C legs and keep your back straight 25 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assis tance is needed see the front cover of this manual SYMPTOM The power does not turn on a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a properly earthed outlet see page 17 If an exten sion cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m b After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console c Check the power switch located on the treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the switch has tripped To reset the power switch wait for fi
7. can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display instant exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor or the chest heart rate monitor In addition the console features thirty two onboard workouts eight calorie workouts eight incline workouts eight intensity workouts and eight speed workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective exercise session The console also features an iFit mode that enables the treadmill to communicate with your wireless network through an optional iFit module With the iFit mode you can download personalized workouts create your own workouts track your workout results race against other iFit users and access many other features To purchase an iFit module at any time go to www iFit com or call the telephone number on the front cover of this manual 18 You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console s stereo sound system while you exercise To turn on the power see page 19 To use the man ual mode see page 19 To use an onboard workout see page 21 To use an Fit workout see page 22 To use a set a goal workout see page 23 To use the stereo sound system see page 23 To use the information mode see page 24 Note The console can display speed and distance
8. the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emer gency the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the posi tion of the clip HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER above 2 Select the manual mode If the manual mode is not selected press the Manual Control button on the console 3 Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the numbered 1 Step Speed buttons 19 If you press the Start button or the Speed increase button the walking belt will begin to move at 2 Km H As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed increase and decrease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 Km H if you hold down the button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 Km H Note After you press the button it may take a moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If you press one of the numbered 1 Step Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To stop the wal

G the 8 pin wires F the 10 pin wires E and the four speaker wires H from the Console 103 Note The Upright Wire 81 has 8 pins the pulse wire E has 10 pins and the speaker wires H have 2 pins See the inset drawing The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE CON NECTORS PROPERLY THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER After all of the wires are connected pull the wires tight and tighten the Cable Ties 99 around the wires Make sure that no wires are resting on any posts other than those with wire ties Cut off the ends of the ties Console 13 15 Insert the Console Base Back 93 into the hole in the console assembly and onto the top of the indicated bracket Be careful not to pinch any wires Tighten two 8 x 1 2 Flat Head Screws 31 into the tray on the Console Base Back 93 Console Assembly 16 Tighten nine 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 into the Console Base Back 93 in the indicated loca tions start with the center Screw Note Some of the 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 are designed to go in at different angles 14 17 Slide the Handrail Covers 79 80 forward until 17 they match up with the Console Base 64 Attach the Handrail Covers with the four 8 x Console 1 1 4 Screws 107 that you removed in steps Ass

12. ay as the manual mode see pages 19 and 20 The workout will continue until you reach the goal that you set The walking belt will then slow to a stop Note The calorie goal is an estimate of the number of calories that you will burn during the workout The actual number of calories that you burn will depend on various factors such as your weight Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 19 23 5 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 20 6 Turnon the fan if desired See step 7 on page 20 7 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 20 HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM To play music or audio books through the console s stereo speakers you must connect your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player to the con sole through the audio jack below the speakers To use the audio jack plug your audio wire into the audio jack Then plug your audio wire into a jack on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Make sure that your audio wire is fully inserted Next press the play button on your MP3 player CD player or other personal audio player Adjust the vol ume on your personal audio player or press the volume increase and decrease but tons on the console Decrease Increase If you are using a personal CD player and the CD skips set the CD player on the floor or another flat su
13. d on the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord press the power switch 24 into the reset position and insert the key into the console However when you remove the key the displays will remain lit although the buttons will not function If the demo mode is turned on the word ON will appear in the matrix To turn on or turn off the demo mode press the Enter button CONTRAST LVL Press the Incline increase and decrease buttons to adjust the contrast level of the display If a module is connected you may also select the following screen TRAINER VOICE To turn on or turn off the voice of the personal trainer press the Enter button If an iFit module is connected you may also select the following screens DEFAULT MENU The default menu will appear when you insert the key into the console or when you press the Home button Press the Enter button repeatedly to select the manual main screen or the iFit screen as the default menu CHECK WIFI STATUS Press the Enter button to check the status of your iFit module The lower display will show the software version number the network SSID the network encryption type the connection status the wireless signal strength the IP address of the module the number of registered users and their names the results of the DNS lookup and the status of the iFit server SEND RECEIVE DATA To send and receive workouts workout logs and updates press the
14. e end of the sensor as shown Then press the end of the sen sor under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor Chest Strap Tabs The heart rate moni Sensor Buckle tor must be worn under your clothes tight against your skin Wrap the heart rate monitor around your chest in the location shown Make sure that the logo is right side up Then attach the other end of the chest strap to the sensor Adjust the length of the chest strap if necessary Pull the sensor away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas which are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution wet the electrode areas Then return the sensor to a position against your chest CARE AND MAINTENANCE Thoroughly dry the sensor with a soft towel after each use Moisture may keep the sensor activated shortening the life of the battery Store the heart rate monitor in a warm dry place Do nat store the heart rate monitor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the heart rate monitor to direct sun light for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 122 F 50 C or below 14 F 10 C Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor when using or storing the heart rate monitor To clean the sensor use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap Then wipe the sen
15. e next workout of that type in your schedule Press the Compete button to compete in a race that you have previously scheduled To re run a recent iFit workout from your schedule first press the Track button Next press the in crease and decrease buttons to select the desired workout Then press the Enter button to start the workout Note If there are no workouts of the selected type in your schedule the next workout in your schedule will be downloaded For more information on the iFit workouts please see www iFit com 22 When you select an Fit workout the display will show the duration of the workout the distance you will walk or run the approximate number of calories you will burn the name of the workout and the maximum speed and incline settings If you select a competition workout the display will count down to the beginning of the race Note Some of the iFit buttons can also run two demo workouts To use the demo workouts remove the Fit module from the console and press one of the iFit buttons Start the workout See step 3 on page 21 During some workouts the voice of a personal trainer will guide you through your workout You can select an audio setting for your personal trainer see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 24 To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To resume the workout press the Start button or the Speed increase button The wal
16. embly 10 and 11 Do not overtighten the Screws Tighten four 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 into the con sole assembly in the locations shown Note Some of the 8 x 3 4 Screws 2 are designed to go in at different angles Raise the Base Covers 82 83 and firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 2 3 4 Screws 7 first and then the 3 8 x 1 1 4 Screws 8 only one side is shown Then press the Base Covers into place 18 Raise the Frame 56 to the position shown Orient the Storage Latch 53 so that the large barrel and the latch knob are oriented as shown Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch 53 to the Base 94 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 3 and a 3 8 Nut 12 Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch 53 to the Frame 56 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 3 and a 3 8 Nut 12 Lower the Frame 56 see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 25 19 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If there are sheets of plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the floor or carpet place a mat under the treadmill Note Extra parts may be included Keep the included hex keys in a secure place one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt see pages 27 and 28 15 THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The heart rate monitor consists of a chest strap and a sensor Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in on
17. ended for home use only Do not use the treadmill in any commercial rental or institutional setting Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water Place the treadmill on a level surface with at least 8 ft 2 4 m of clearance behind it and 2 ft 0 6 m on each side Do not place the treadmill on any surface that blocks air openings To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under age 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should be used only by per sons weighing 350 Ibs 159 kg or less Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothes while using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothes that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recom mended for both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 When connecting the power cord see page 17 plug the power cord into an earthed circuit No other appliance should be on the same circuit When replacing the fuse in the power cord adapter insert an ASTA approved BS1362 13 amp fuse into the fuse carrier If

20. il assembly B Route the Upright Wire 81 around the back of the console assembly as shown and insert the end of the Upright Wire through the indicated looped Cable Tie 99 Assembly Console Assembly 11 11 Remove the two 8 x 1 1 4 Screws 107 and 11 slide the Right Handrail Cover 80 back about Console 1 in The Screws will be reattached in a later Assembly step Note It is not necessary to move the Right Handrail Insert 85 With the help of a second person hold the con sole assembly near the right handrail assembly C Make sure that the pulse wire E is inserted through the looped Cable Tie 99 on the right handrail assembly C Route the pulse wire E around the back of the console assembly as shown and insert the end of the wire through the other Cable Tie 99 12 Set the console assembly on the brackets on the Handrails 87 Be careful not to pinch any Console wires Assembly Attach the console assembly with the four 1 4 x 1 2 Screws 4 that you removed in step 9 and four 1 4 Star Washers 5 Start all four Screws and then tighten them 12 13 Set the Console 103 onto the Console Base 64 Make sure that none of the wires from the Console are pinched Attach the Console 103 to the Console Base 64 with six 8 x 1 2 Screws 1 14 Connect the ground wires
21. in either miles or kilometers To find which unit of mea surement is selected see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 24 For simplicity all instructions in this sec tion refer to kilometers IMPORTANT If there are sheets of plastic on the console remove the plastic To prevent damage to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time you use the treadmill observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if necessary see page 28 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures allow it to warm to room tem perature before you turn on the power If you do not do this you may damage the console displays or other electrical components Plug in the power cord see page 17 Next locate the power switch on the tread Z mill frame near the power Reset cord Press the power switch into the reset position IMPORTANT The console features a display demo mode designed to be used if the treadmill is dis played in a store If the displays light as soon as you plug in the power cord and press the power switch into the reset position the demo mode is turned on To turn off the demo mode hold down the Stop button for a few seconds If the displays remain lit see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 24 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key and slide

27. o strengthen your cardiovascular system exercising at the proper inten sity is the key to achieving results You can use your heart rate as a guide to find the proper intensity level The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 165 155 145 140 130 125 115 Y 145 138 130 125 118 110 103 Y 125 120 115 110 105 95 90 vw 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 To find the proper intensity level find your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 29 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exercise which is activity that requi
