13. igh and the Temperature Regulator is set to low temperature and the appliance is fully loaded the compressor may run continu ously causing frost or ice on the evapo rator If this happens set the Tempera ture Regulator toward warmer settings to allow automatic defrosting and so a sav ing in electricity consumption Hints for fresh food refrigeration To obtain the best performance e do not store warm food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator e do cover or wrap the food particularly if it has a strong flavour position food so that air can circulate freely around it Hints for refrigeration Useful hints Meat all types wrap in polythene bags and place on the glass shelf above the veg etable drawer For safety store in this way only one or two days at the most 27 Cooked foods cold dishes etc these should be covered and may be placed on any shelf Fruit and vegetables these should be thor oughly cleaned and placed in the special drawer s provided Butter and cheese these should be placed in special airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible Milk bottles these should have a cap and should be stored in the bottle rack on the door Bananas potatoes onions and garlic if not packed must not be kept in the refrigera tor Hints for freezing To help you make the most of the freezing process here are some important hints
14. ivate the Fast Freezing function at least 24 hours before placing the food to be frozen in the freezer compartment Place the fresh food to be frozen in the top compartment The maximum amount of food that can be frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating e flashing the alarm and freezer tempera ture indicators e sounding of buzzer To reset the alarm 1 Press any button 2 The buzzer switches off 3 The freezer temperature indicator shows the highest temperature reached for a few seconds Then shows again the set temperature 4 The alarm indicator continue to flash until the normal conditions are restored When the alarm has returned the alarm indi cator goes off Door open alarm An acoustic alarm will sound if the door is left open for a few minutes The door open alarm conditions are indicated by e flashing Alarm indicator e acoustic buzzer When normal conditions are restored door closed the alarm will stop During the alarm the buzzer can be switch ed off by pressing any button Important Do not use detergents or abra sive powders as these will damage the fin ish plate a label located on the inside of the fridge The freezing process lasts 24 hours during this period do not add other food to be fro zen After 24 hours when the freezing process is completed deactivate the Fast Freezing function see Fast Freezing function Important When use the Fast Freezing function
15. ng Important Take care of not to damage the cooling system Many proprietary kitchen surface cleaners contain chemicals that can attack damage the plastics used in this appliance For this reason it is recommended that the outer casing of this appliance is only cleaned with warm water with a little washing up liquid added After cleaning reconnect the equipment to the mains supply Defrosting of the refrigerator Defrosting of the fridge compartment is au tomatic The water that forms flows into a recipient on the compressor and evaporates This re cipient cannot be removed Defrosting the freezer A certain amount of frost will always form on the freezer shelves and around the top compartment Defrost the freezer when the frost layer rea ches a thickness of about 3 5 mm 29 Important About 12 hours prior to defrosting set the Temperature regulator toward higher settings in order to build up sufficient chill reserve for the interruption in operation To remove the frost follow the instructions below 1 Switch off the appliance 2 Remove any stored food wrap it in several layers of newspaper and put it in a cool place A Caution Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands Hands can freeze to the goods 3 Leave the door open and insert the plastic scraper in the appropriate seat ing at the bottom centre placing a ba sin underneath to collect the defrost water In order to sp
