1. of functions and settings to adapt your receiver to your own requirements The functionality depends on which version of the 914D you use and how the receiver is programmed Both versions 914D Basic and 914D Advanced are equipped with a top display that can present 12 characters simultaneously An incoming message is automatically displayed The beep signal can be customised to give a special signal for a selected kind of message The pocket receiver stores up to ten messages with a total of max 480 characters When idle the display shows your name number in the system the so called identity While storing charging the receiver in the T967 storage charging rack it can receive messages and send absence indication 2 1 Constituent Parts LED Display ascom teleCOURIER Function button R port C Sea O ER san lid with screw for battery 003 Figure 3 Constituent parts of 914D 2 1 1 Display The display simultaneously shows 12 characters and longer messages automatically scroll on the display When idle the display shows the identity and if the identity is shorter than six characters also the current time The receiver is programmed with a unique identity within the system it can be your call number your name or similar Below this text icons appear for example to notify you when you receive a new message or to keep track of functions you have activated like the time stamp The system admin

4. 0 6 5 Info Page The info page consists of information that is regularly sent to the pocket receiver for example a value you need to monitor 2005 06 14 Ver A 9 User Manual 914D Pocket Receiver TD 92278GB The info page is not indicated by any symbol the user has to know its existence The info page is found by scrolling through all messages with short presses on the function button If required the info page message can be highlighted by for example programming i to appear before the general info page text 6 6 Call Diversion Pagings originally intended for someone else can be automatically diverted to your receiver The call diversion symbol indicates that the call has been diverted to your receiver The call number to which the call was originally intended is displayed after the symbol 7 For System Administrator Parameter settings in 914D The programming of 914D shall only be performed by the system administrator which sets parameters and relevant functions in the receiver to customise its functionality The parameter memory consists of an EEPROM The pocket receiver is programmed by using a PC equipped with the software application Pocket Unit Programmer PUP included in the software package Win900 Base Kit The receiver is usually programmed while it is in the storage charging rack It is also possible to program the receiver remotely by radio 7 1 Receiver Operation Setting parameters provides

8. following functions e Display on off Should the display be active or not when the receiver is in the storage charging rack e Automatic on off Sets the receiver to start stop at pre set times e Text presentation Longer text messages either scroll on the display or are shown in segments this can be customised e LED behaviour Sets the LED to blink in a customised sequence e Beep signals The signals can be customised but the PUP has several standard beep signals to choose from e Display menu All text in the display can be changed to fit your own language or terminology Note This document uses default values 2005 06 14 Ver A 10 User Manual 914D Pocket Receiver TD 92278GB 7 2 Test Paging Each time you take the receiver out of the storage charging rack the system automatically tests the receiver s paging abilities The receiver expects a paging from the system within three minutes after you take it out of the storage charging rack If this paging is not received an error message appears on the display 7 3 User Permission It is possible to restrict access to functions You can choose to lock user parameters preventing the user from accessing these functions As a result the function is no longer accessible to the user and disappears from the receiver These parameters are REMIND beep signal RTC VOLume OFF SILENT SET LCD orientation PROGRAMming mode and Group numbers 8 System Functions The followin
9. g system functions are set in the system and work together with the 914D 8 1 General The system can be used to send pagings that feature the commands delete and accept This is for example used to delete accept a message after a pre set time 8 2 Info Page The info page consists of information that is automatically updated at regular intervals This function can for example be used to monitor measurements The system sends pagings containing information to the receiver which stores the information The info page is not indicated by any symbol in the display You find the info page stored last in the list of messages in the receiver The system continues to send pagings continuously updating the information You can have up to six different info pagings in the 914D 8 3 Auto Accept Delete Auto accept delete can be used as follows In a hospital all the nurses receive a group paging of an alarm in a room One nurse goes to attend the patient presses a button that sends a command to the system that help is present The system then sends a group paging that clears this specific paging from all other receivers 2005 06 14 Ver A 11 User Manual 914D Pocket Receiver TD 92278GB 9 Maintenance 9 1 Storing the 914D While not in use place the receiver in the T967 storage charging rack to save battery Note If you are using a rechargeable battery make sure to place your receiver regularly in the charging rack for example every nigh

13. r example be group pagings that you take part of or messages diverted to you Messages that are sent to one of these five additional numbers are indicated by the call number symbol L at the end of the message Each one of the additional numbers can be enabled disabled See 5 3 Activate Deactivate a Group Number on page 8 RTC Time Stamp The RTC real time clock in the paging system provides your pocket receiver with the time The time stamp is a function that allows you to see when a message is received It is shown at the end of each message and is indicated by the time stamp symbol The time stamp is activated when the RTC function is activated see 5 4 Activate Deactivate the Time Stamp function on page 8 Note The time stamp is not displayed if the message is older than 24 hours or consists of too many characters REMIND When the remind function is activated a beep signal will sound on regular intervals until you have accepted an incoming message See 5 5 Activate Deactivate the Reminder Beep Signal on page 8 LCD This function allows you to change the orientation of the text in the display the text can be rotated 180 degrees Depending on how you carry your receiver this can be convenient See 5 6 Change the Display Text Orientation on page 8 PROGRAM The receiver must be set in the program mode with the text P lt Your call number gt shown to enable remote programming via radio See 5 7 Activate the Progra

15. t 9 2 Remove Replace the battery When you remove the battery you erase all messages even if the memory function is activated Unlock the screw and slide the cover in the direction indicated by the arrow Remove the battery Reset the battery warning with a long press on the function button Replace the battery with any LR3 sized battery or the rechargeable Inductive Battery Pack IBP1 Insert it according to the markings and slide back the cover Lock the screw Note It takes 10 seconds before the receiver starts up Check the display that no error message appears 9 3 Charge the Battery Place the receiver in the T967 storage charging rack The first time you use the inductive battery IBP1 charge it for approximately 14 hours After that store the receiver in the storage charging rack whenever you are not using it Low battery is indicated by the display text BATTERY Change or charge the battery immediately the performance of the radio receiver is otherwise not guaranteed 9 4 Handling error indication The error indication out of range symbol A together with the text OUT OF RANGE indicates that you probably are outside the coverage area Check that the receiver is within coverage area The error indication out of range symbol together with the text BATTERY indicates a low battery Change or charge the battery immediately the performance of the radio receiver is otherwise not guaranteed The error ind
16. t to erase and make a long press on the function button until KKKKKKKEK appears Turn the Audible Signal ON OFF Make one long press followed by a short press on the function button TONE is displayed Switch between ON OFF with long presses on the function button When the audible signal is turned off the text SILENT is shown in the display and no beep signal is heard when a message arrives Note All pagings with high priority override a switched off audible signal User Manual 914D Pocket Receiver 3 8 Screensaver TD 92278GB By using the screensaver a longer battery life is ensured The screensaver function is pre programmed and shuts the display off after a pre set time To activate the display again press the button An incoming message turns the screensaver off automatically After reading the message it is important to press the button to return to ID mode By this the screensaver function is reactivated 4 Display Menu Handling The display menu is your aid when you set your personal parameters Use it to change parameters in your 914D step to the required function and activate deactivate the function 4 1 Navigate the Menu Tree Use a long press on the function button to enter the display menu and short presses to step between the functions A long press will change the function setting To return to stand by mode use short presses and step until the text EXIT appears Exit is the last
17. the correct parameters the receiver will restart 6 Advanced Functions These programmable functions as well as system parameters vary depending on the 914D you have The functions are activated by your system administrator 6 1 Memory This function saves your messages even if you turn the receiver off Note If you replace the battery all messages will be erased even if the memory function is activated 6 2 Test Paging Each time you take the receiver out of the storage charging rack the system automatically tests the receivers paging abilities Take the receiver out from the charging rack as usual Check for error messages after three minutes If the error symbol A and OUT OF RANGE are displayed the test paging has failed Replace the receiver in the storage charging rack and take it out again If the error message still remains contact your system administrator 6 3 Beep Signals To distinguish between different types of paging messages you can choose between seven different beep signals Any of these seven beep signals can be modified by your system administrator see chapter 7 For System Administrator Parameter settings in 914D 6 4 Absence Indication With absence indication activated and the receiver placed in the storage charging rack anyone who tries to send you a message receives an absence indication The paging may also be diverted to somebody else in case you are absent see6 6 Call Diversion on page 1
