6. ed In the recirculation mode contaminated air enters the cooker hood and passes through the grease and charcoal filter and out into the kitchen through a recirculation grille in the housing When installed in the recirculation mode it will be necessary for the installer to fabricate a chimney from the ducting spigot on the top of the hood to a terminal in the chimney wall cabinet housing The ducting used must be 100mm 4ins and should be manufactured from fire retardant material conforming to the relevant British Standard or DIN 4102 B1 DUCTING FITTING The hood is supplied specified for installation in the recirculation mode with the charcoal filter fitted To convert the hood from recirculation to extraction open the metal inlet grille and remove the charcoal filter Remove the thumb screw through the centre of the charcoal filter from the motor support The charcoal filter can now be removed When installed in the extraction mode the charcoal filter is not required To fit the ducting spigot align the flat side on the spigot with the recesses in the top of the casing Insert and snap fix the spigot into the aperture on the top of the casing ensuring air tight connection The ducting used must be 100mm 4 diameter and where flexible ducting is fitted it should not be turned through very tight bends as this may impair the perfor mance of the cooker hood Maximum length of ducting including one 90 bend should be 3 m
7. epth of 29 cm 11 3 8ins excluding the cabinet door if fitted into a wall cabinet IMPORTANT When installed above an electric cooking appliance the minimum distance between the surface of the hob elements and the lower grille of tne cooker hood must be 65cm 25 1 2ins When installed above a gas cooking appliance the minimum distance between the surface of the pan supports and the grille of the cooker hood must be 70cm 27 1 2ins When installed above a cooking appliance with a high level grill the distance between the upper casing and the grille of the cooker hood must be 45cm 17 3 4ins WARNING When installed between adjoining wall cabinets the wall cabinets must not overhang the hob and the distance between the underside of the cabinets and the worktop must be 45cm 15 3 4ins WARNING The fan motor of this appliance incorpo rates a thermal cut out device which will operate if the hood is installed below the minimum heights recom mended above or if the motor becomes overheated If the cut out device is activated switch off the fan motor and allow the hood to cool The cut out device will reset itself when the fan motor has cooled sufficiently When used in the extraction mode the cooker hood must not be connected to a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances supplied with energy other than electric such as central heating flue or water heating flue if the room where the hood is to be used contai
8. etres to be reduced by 1 metre for each addition 90 bend installed in the duct run OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The cooker hood functions are controlled by three slide switches located centrally in the front edge of the metal grille panel The three slide switches control the worktop lighting and the fan speed Ensure the hood is plugged in or wired in and the power supply switched on WORKTOP LIGHTING The slide switch marked with the lamp symbol and numbered 0 1 controls the worktop lighting Position 0 indicates the light is switched off Position 1 indicates the light is switched on FAN The switch marked with the fan symbol and numbered 0 1 controls the power to the fan Position 0 indicates the fan is switched off Position 1 indicates the fan is switched on The switch marked 1 2 3 should be used in conjunction with the switched marked with the fan symbol to control the speed 1 Low 2 Normal and 3 Boost Position 1 Should be selected when simmering or when using one pan Position 2 Should be selected for normal coo king up to four pans Position 3 Should be selected when frying or cooking food with strong odour To obtain the best performance it is advisable to switch ON the cooker hood a few minutes before you start cooking and leave it running for approximately 15 minutes after finishing The cooker hood is more efficient when used in the ducting mode MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING WARNING For
9. grille will hinge open from the back Carefully remove the screw through the centre of the charcoal filter from the motor support while holding the filter securely The charcoal filter can now be removed Clean the inlet grille and motor support before replacing the charcoal filter GREASE FILTER The grease filter is fitted to absorb grease and dust during cooking to help keep the appliance clean inside METAL GREASE FILTER The grease filter should be cleaned once a month after normal usage It may be washed in hot water and mild detergent or liquid soap or it may be washed in a dishwasher It should not be bent Make sure the grease filter is dry before refitting To remove the grease filter open the metal inlet grille Carefully ease out the metal retaining wire clips to remove the grease filter Clean the metal grille and clips before replacing the grease filter Please ensure that the wire clips are handled with care and keep away from children as the wire clips have sharp points IMPORTANT There could be a possible fire hazard if the grease and charcoal filters are not replaced according to these instructions Replacement charcoal filters grease filters and light bulbs can be obtained from your local Zanussi Service Centre whose details can be found in the Customer Care Booklet DO S AND DON TS Do s Do take extra care when frying Do keep heating areas on your hob covered over with pots and pans when using the h
10. ns a fuel burning appliance such as a central heating boiler then its flue must be of the room sealed or balanced flue type If other types of flue or appliances are fitted ensure that there is an adequate supply of air to the room All installations must comply with the local authorities requirements for the discharge of exhaust air If the cooker hood is installed for use above a gas appliance then the provision for ventilation must be in accordance with the latest Gas Safety Installation amp Use Regulations and the relevant building regulations Details are contained in the following British Codes Of Practice BS 6172 BS 5440 and BS 6891 Current Edition This cooker hood has been designed for installation over an electric hotplate with a maximum input of 7kW or a gas hotplate with a maximum input of 10kW when fitted in accordance with the height recommended in this booklet ELECTRICAL CONNECTION WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The manufacturer declines any liability should this safety measure not be observed This cooker hood comes with a 3 core mains lead and should be connected to the electricity mains supply using either of the methods as follows A Permanently wired via a double pole switch which should have contacts with a minimum clearance of 3mm in both poles or B Connected by a 13Amp BS 1363 plug fitted with a 3Amp fuse BS 1362 ASTA Approved to a standard 13Amp household mains socket An

12. rective No 82 499 on Radio Interference Please ensure that when the appliance is installed it is easily accessible for the engineer in the event of a breakdown INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS UNPACKING Care should be taken when unpacking to ensure that the fixing kit ducting spigot and literature pack are retained with the hood The fixing kit comprises 1 10 N 15mm round headed screws FITTING Before fitting the cooker hood beneath any canopy or wall cabinet housing ensure it is firmly fixed to the wall in accordance with the manufacturers instructions Measure the underside of the housing to mark the position for the cut out The cut out should measu re width 497mm 19 9 16ins by depth 261mm 10 5 16ins IMPORTANT Check the positioning of the hole is correct with the measurements above before making the cut out The hood is fixed using the holes located in the rim around the base of the casing visible when the inlet grille is in the open position Open the grille panel using the slide catches and the grille will hinge open Raise the cooker hood into the cut out and mark the position for the fixing screws Pilot drill the fixing holes and fit the cooker hood using the screws supplied Ensure that provision is made for the mains lead and ducting before the cooker hood is secured to the housing RECIRCULATION The hood is supplied specified for installation in the recirculation mode with the charcoal filter fitt
