Keep children under 12 and pets away from the weight bench at all times Keep hands and feet away from moving parts Always wear athletic shoes for foot protec tion while exercising Do not use a barbell longer than seven feet with this weight bench 7 olympic bar includ ed Always make sure there is an equal amount of weight on each side of the olympic bar included when you are using it The weight bench is designed to support a maximum of 560 pounds including the user a barbell and weights Do not place more than 310 pounds including a barbell and weights on the weight rests Do not place more than 150 pounds on the leg lever or more than 150 pounds on the weight carriage for normal use 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 19 a To reduce the risk of serious injury read the following important precautions before using the weight bench Always place 50 pounds on the leg lever when performing squat exercises to balance the bench see page 15 Always fold the backrest out of the way when performing squat exercises see page 15 Do not sit on the seat when the backrest is folded Do not stand with your back to the weight bench when performing squat exercises see page 15 You should be able to see the weight rests while exercising so that you can safely return the barbell to the weight rests when you finish the exercise When using the backrest make sure the sup port tube is fully

FORM You will gain the greatest benefits from exercising by maintaining proper form This requires moving through the full range of motion for each exercise and moving only the appropriate parts of the body Exercising in an uncontrolled manner will leave you feeling exhausted On the exercise poster accompa nying this manual you will find photographs showing the correct form for several exercises A description of each exercise is also provided along with a list of the muscles affected Refer to the muscle chart on page 18 to find the locations of the muscles The repetitions in each set should be performed smoothly and without pausing The exertion stage of each repetition should last about half as long as the return stage Proper breathing is important Exhale during the exertion stage of each repetition and inhale during the return stroke Never hold your breath You should rest for a short period of time after each set The ideal resting periods are Rest three minutes after each set for a muscle build ing workout Rest one minute after each set for a toning workout Rest 30 seconds after each set for a weight loss workout Plan to spend the first couple of weeks familiarizing yourself with the equipment and learning the proper form for each exercise COOLING DOWN End each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching Include stretches for both your arms and legs Move slowly as you stretch and do not bounce Ease int

5. 36 Attach the Cable 50 to the bracket on the Weight Carriage 48 with an M10 x 19mm Bolt 55 and an M10 Nylon Locknut 37 Do not overtighten the Nylon Locknut 11 16 Insert the Lat Tower 47 into the Front Leg 2 The Lat Tower must be turned as shown Secure the Lat Tower with the Adjustment Knob 16 17 Slide a Grip 38 onto each end of the Lat Bar 53 Make sure all parts are properly tightened before you use the weight bench The use of all remain ing parts will be explained in Adjusting the Weight Bench beginning on the next page 12 Adjusting the Weight Bench This section explains how to adjust the weight bench See the EXERCISE GUIDELINES on page 16 for impor tant information on how to get the most benefit from your exercise program Also refer to the accompanying exercise poster to see the correct form for each exercise Inspect and tighten all parts each time you use the weight bench Replace any worn parts immediately The weight bench can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild non abrasive detergent Do not use solvents ADJUSTING THE WEIGHT RESTS To change the height of the Weight Rests 9 first remove the Olympic Bar not shown from the Weight Rests Pull a Weight Rest 9 out of the Upright move it to the desired position and slide it into the hole in the Upright Make sure the Weight Rest goes through both sides of the

Upright Position the other Weight Rest in the same manner Note that for squat exercises the Weight Rests 9 must be mounted on the back side of the Uprights WARNING Always set both weight rests at the same height Do not place more than 310 pounds including a barbell and weights on the weight rests ADJUSTING THE BACKREST The Backrest 13 can be set to three different positions a level position a decline position and an incline position To change the position of the Backrest 13 move the Support Tube 8 to a different set of adjustment brackets B on the Uprights When moving the Support Tube 8 always make sure it is securely seated in the adjustment brackets FOLDING THE BACKREST To perform squat exercises you will need to fold the Backrest 13 to the upright position To fold the Backrest 13 lift and pull it forward as far as it will go It will be held in place by its own weight WARNING Always fold the backrest out of the way when performing squat exercises Do not sit on the seat when the backrest is folded 13 ADJUSTING THE WEIGHT BENCH FOR SQUAT EXERCISES To perform squat or toe raise exercises fold the Backrest 13 to the upright position as described earlier in this section Remove the Support Tube 8 Move the Weight Rests 9 to the upper holes on the back side of the Uprights see ADJUSTING THE WEIGHT RESTS earlier in this secti
9. ews 35 and four M6 Washers 39 Do not tighten the Screws yet Make sure the Backrest Tubes are oriented as shown Lubricate an M10 x 175mm Bolt 29 Attach the Backrest Tubes 11 to the Bench Frame 1 with the Bolt and an M10 Nylon Locknut 37 Do not overtighten the Nylon Locknut the Backrest must be able to move freely Tighten the four Screws 35 from the previous step Lower the Backrest 13 onto the Support Tube 8 Attach one end of the Seat 14 to the Bench Frame 1 with the M6 x 62mm Screw 32 and an M6 Washer 39 Attach the other end of the Seat 14 with two M6 x 16mm Screws 33 Press a 2 Round Cap 25 into the end of the weight tube C Press a 50 x 50mm Square Cap 20 into each end of the Leg Lever 3 Attach the Bumper 24 to the Front Leg 2 with an M4 x 19mm Screw 34 10 Lubricate an M10 x 72mm Bolt 27 Attach the Leg Lever 3 to the Front Leg 2 with the Bolt and an M10 Nylon Locknut 37 Lubricate 11 Press four 19mm Round Caps 23 into the ends of the two Pad Tubes 17 Insert a Pad Tube 17 through the holes in the Leg Lever 3 Insert the remaining Pad Tube through the holes in the bracket on the Front Leg 2 Slide two Foam Pads 18 onto each Pad Tube 17 12 Insert a Weight Rest 9 into one of the holes on each Upright 6 7 Make sure the shaft on the Weight Rest goes through both sides of the U
10. he weight carriage ATTACHING AND REMOVING THE LAT TOWER For some exercises the Lat Tower 47 must be attached to the weight bench Insert the Lat Tower 47 into the indicated hole in the Front Leg 2 Align the holes in the Front Leg and the Lat Tower Secure the Lat Tower with the Adjustment Knob 16 Make sure you fully tighten the Adjustment Knob To remove the Lat Tower 47 first remove the Lat Bar as described below Then remove the Adjustment Knob 16 and pull the Lat Tower out of the Front Leg When the Lat Tower 47 is not in use store it away from the weight bench so that it does not interfere with your exercise program ATTACHING THE LAT BAR TO THE LAT TOWER To use the Lat Tower 47 attach the Lat Bar 53 to the Cable 50 with a Cable Clip 52 15 Exercise Guidelines THE FOUR BASIC TYPES OF WORKOUTS Muscle Building The only way to increase the size and strength of your muscles is to push them close to their maximum capacity When you progressively increase the inten sity of your exercise your muscles will continually adapt and grow You can tailor the individual exercise to the proper intensity level in two ways by changing the amount of weight used by changing the number of repetitions or sets per formed A repetition is one complete cycle of an exercise such as one sit up A set is a series of repetitions The pro

13. ning and aerobic exer cise will reshape and strengthen your body plus develop your heart and lungs PERSONALIZING YOUR EXERCISE PROGRAM Specifying the exact length of time for each workout as well as the number of repetitions or sets for each exercise is a highly individual matter It is very impor tant to avoid overdoing it during the first few months of your exercise program You should progress at your own pace and be sensitive to your body s sig nals If you experience pain or dizziness at any time while exercising stop immediately and begin cooling down Find out what is wrong before continuing Remember that adequate rest and a proper diet are important factors in any exercise program WARMING UP Begin each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise to warm up Warming up prepares your body for more strenuous exercise by increasing circulation raising your body temperature and deliver ing more oxygen to your muscles WORKING OUT Each workout should include 6 to 10 different exercis es Select exercises for every major muscle group with emphasis on the areas that you want to develop the most To give balance and variety to your work outs vary the exercises from session to session Schedule your workouts for the time of day when your energy level is the highest Each workout should be followed by at least one day of rest Once you find the schedule that is right for you stick with it EXERCISE

17. on WARNING Always place 50 pounds on the leg lever when performing squat exercises to balance the bench WARNING Always fold the backrest out of the way when performing squat exercises WARNING Do not stand with your back to the weight bench when performing squat exercises You should be able to see the weight rests while exercising so that you can safely return the Olympic Bar when you finish the exercise ATTACHING WEIGHTS TO THE LEG LEVER To use the Leg Lever 3 slide the desired amount of weight onto the Weight Tube C WARNING Do not place more than 150 pounds on the leg lever ATTACHING AND REMOVING WEIGHTS To attach Weights 42 46 to the Olympic Bar 40 first slide the desired amount of Weights onto the Bar Hold the Weight Clip 41 with one hand and squeeze the two handles together Slide the Clip over the end of the Bar and release it To remove Weights 42 46 hold the Weight Clip 41 with one hand and squeeze the two handles together Pull the Clip off the Olympic Bar 40 and put it aside Then remove the Weights from the Bar 14 ATTACHING WEIGHTS TO THE WEIGHT CARRIAGE To use the Lat Tower 47 slide the desired amount of weight onto each side of the weight tube on the Weight Carriage 48 Make sure there is an equal amount of weight on each side of the Weight Carriage Secure the weights with the Weight Clips 41 WARNING Do not place more than 150 pounds on t
18. per amount of weight for each exercise obvi ously depends upon the individual user You must gauge your limits and select the amount of weight that is right for you Begin with 3 sets of 8 repetitions for each exercise you perform Rest for 3 minutes after each set When you can complete 3 sets of 12 repeti tions without difficulty increase the amount of weight Toning You can tone your muscles by pushing them to a moderate percentage of their capacity Select a mod erate amount of weight and increase the number of repetitions in each set Complete as many sets of 15 to 20 repetitions as possible without discomfort Rest for 1 minute after each set Work your muscles by completing more sets rather than by using high amounts of weight Weight Loss To lose weight use a low amount of weight and increase the number of repetitions in each set Exercise for 20 to 30 minutes resting for a maximum of 30 seconds between sets Cross Training Many people desire a complete and well balanced fit ness program and cross training is a very efficient way to accomplish this One example of a balanced program is Plan weight training workouts on Monday Wednesday and Friday Plan 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise such as cycling running or swimming on Tuesday and Thursday Rest from both weight training and aerobic exercise for at least one full day each week to give your body time to regenerate The combination of weight trai
19. pright 13 Press a Bushing 10 into the top and bottom of the Weight Carriage 48 Press a 2 Round Cap 25 into each end of the weight tube on the Weight Carriage 48 Slide a Plastic Weight Stop 31 onto each end of the weight tube as far as it will go Press a Bushing 10 into the top note the location of the hole of the Weight Stop 15 10 14 Insert a 50 x 50mm Square Cap 20 into the top end of the Lat Tower 47 Locate the Cable 50 Wrap the end with the ball around a Pulley 49 Attach the Pulley to the top end of the Lat Tower 47 with an M10 x 100mm Bolt 12 an M10 Washer 21 and an M10 Nylon Locknut 37 Make sure the Cable is between the Pulley and the welded pin on the Lat Tower Wrap the Cable 50 around the other Pulley 49 Attach the Pulley to the Lat Tower 47 with an M10 x 100mm Bolt 12 a Cable Trap 51 an M10 Washer 21 and an M10 Nylon Locknut 37 Make sure the Cable Trap 51 is oriented as shown and that the Cable 50 runs smoothly over both Pulleys 49 15 Slide the Weight Carriage 48 onto the Lat Tower 47 The Weight Carriage must be oriented as shown Slide the Weight Stop 15 onto the Lat Tower 47 The Bushing 10 must be facing the Weight Carriage 48 Align the holes in the Weight Stop 15 with the indi cated holes in the Lat Tower 47 Attach the Weight Stop to the Lat Tower with an M8 x 72mm Bolt 28 and an M8 Nylon Locknut
20. product make sure you have read and understand the information in the box above Insert a 50 x 50mm Square Cap 20 into the Bench Frame 1 Attach the Bench Frame 1 to the Front Leg 2 with two M8 x 72mm Bolts 28 the Support Plate 19 and two M8 Nylon Locknuts 36 Do not tighten the Nylon Locknuts yet Insert a 50 x 50mm Square Cap 20 into the Right and Left Base 5 4 Note that the holes for the Carriage Bolts 30 are recessed on one side of each Base Make sure the recessed holes are turned towards the floor Insert two M10 x 65mm Carriage Bolts 30 through the rear holes in the Right Base 5 and place it flat on the floor Insert an M10 x 65mm Carriage Bolt 30 through the front hole of the Base Do the same for the Left Base 4 For help identifying the small parts use the PART IDENTIFICATION CHART on page 7 of the man ual As you assemble the weight bench make sure all parts are oriented as shown in the drawings The following tools not included are required for assembly Two 2 adjustable wrenches One 1 rubber mallet One 1 standard screwdriver One 1 phillips screwdriver Lubricant such as grease or petroleum jelly plus soapy water Assembly will be more convenient if you have the following tools A socket set a set of open end or closed end wrenches or a set of ratchet wrenches 3 Slide the mounting bracket A on the Bench Frame 1 onto the Car
