ENGINE TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE See Fig 29 Loosen cable clamp screw to allow cable to move Move throttle control lever on upper handle to FAST postion Pull throttle cable out until engine bellcrank is back as far as it will go e Hold cable in this position and tighten clamp screw securely CLAMP SCREW THROTTLE _ CABLE BELLCRANK FIG 29 2 ADJUST CARBURETOR See Fig 30 The carburetorhas a high speed jet and has been preset a he factory and adjustment should notbe necessary How ever minor adjustments may be required to compensate or differences in fuel temperature altitude or load If the carburetor does need adjustment proceed as follows n general turning the idle needle valve in clockwise decreases the supply of fuel to the engine giving a leaner uel air mixture Turning the needle valve out counter clockwise increases the supply of fuel to the engine giving a richer fuel air mixture IMPORTANT DAMAGE TO THE NEEDLES AND THE SEATS IN CARBURETOR MAY RESULT IF SCREWS ARE TURNED IN TOO TIGHT PRELIMINARY SETTING Air cleaner assembly must be assembled to the carbu reter when making carburetor adjustments Be sure the throttle control cable is adjusted properly see above e With engine off turn idle needle valve in clockwise closing it finger tight and then turn valve out counter clockwise 1 1 2 turns 18 FINAL SETTING e

SPARK ARRESTER LIMITED WARRANTY __ The Manufacturer warrants to the original consumer purchaser that this product as manufactured is free from defects in materials and workmanship For a period of two 2 years from date of purchase by the original consumer purchaser we will repair or replace at our option without charge for parts or labor incurred in replacing parts any part which we find to be defective due to materials or workmanship This Warranty is subject to the following limitations and exclusions 1 This warranty does not apply to the engine or components parts thereof Please refer to the applicable manufacturer s warranty on these items 2 Transportation charges for the movement of any power equipment unit or attachment are the responsibility of the purchaser Transportation charges for any parts submitted for replacement under this warranty must be paid by the purchaser unless such return ig requested by American Yard Products 3 The Warranty period for any products used for rental or commercial purposes is limited to 90 days from the date of original purchase l4 This Warranty applies only to products which have been properly assembled adjusted operated and maintained in accor dance with the instructions furnished This Warranty does not apply to any product which has been subjected to alteration misuse abuse improper assembly or installation delivery damage or to normal wear of the product 5 Exclusions

Start engine and allowto warm for five minutes Make final adjustments with engine running at idle and drive control bar in DISENGAGED position With throttle control lever in SLOW position turn idle needle valve in clockwise until engine begins to die then turn out counterclockwise until engine runs rough Tum valve to a point midway between those two positions IDLE RPM ADJUSTMENT To adjust idle RPM rotate throttle linkage counter clockwise and hold against stop while adjusting idle speed adjusting screw to obtain 1750 RPM Release throttle linkage ACCELERATION TEST E Move throttle control lever from SLOW to FAST position If engine hesitates or dies turn needle valve out counterclockwise 1 8 turn Repeat test and continue to adjust if necessary until engine acceler ates smoothly High speed stop is factory adjusted Do not adjust or damage may result IMPORTANT NEVER TAMPER WITH THE ENGINE GOVERNOR WHICH IS FACTORY SET FOR PROPER ENGINE SPEED OVERSPEEDING THE ENGINE ABOVE THE FACTORY HIGH SPEED SETTING CAN BE DANGEROUS IF YOU THINK THE ENGINE GOVERNED HIGH SPEED NEEDS ADJUSTING CONTACT YOUR NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER DEPARTMENT WHICH HAS THE PROPER EQUIPMENT AND EXPERIENCE TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS THROTTLE LINKAGE THROTTLE STOP IDLE SPEED ADJUSTING SCREW IDLE NEEDLE VALVE FIG 20 STORAGE Immediately prepare

USE FRESH CLEAN WINTER GRADE QASOLINE TO HELP INSURE GOOD COLD WEATHER WARNING Experience indicates that alcohol blended fuels called gasoho or using ethanol or methanol can attract moisture which leads to separation and formation of acids during storage Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of an engine while in storage To avoid engine problems the fuel system should be emptied before storage of 30 days or longer Drain the gas tank start the engine and let it run until the fuel lines and carburetor are empty Use fresh fuel next season See Storage section of this manual for additional information Never use engine orcarburetor cleaner products inthe jueltank orpermanent damage may occur CAUTION Fill to within 1 2 1 3 cm of top of fuel tank to prevent spilis and to allow for fuel expansion If gasoline is accidentally spilled move machine away from area of spill Avoid creating any source of ignition until gasoline vapors have disappeared Do not overfill Wipe off any spilled oil orfuel Do not store spill or use gaso line near an open flame OPERATION TO START ENGINE See Fig 13 TILLING HINTS CAUTION Keep drive control bar in CAUTION Untilyouare accustomed to DISENGAGED position when start handling your tiller start actual field ing engine os use with throttle in slow position mid way between FAST and IDLE When starting e
