SONY VG N C 1xx Senes Optical Disk Drive Replacement Instructions IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU START These easy instructions are intended to guide you through the replacement process v To avoid electnc shock please make sure product is tumed off and AC Adaptor is disconnected from the power source Remove jewelry before you begin work to avoid scratching the surface of your notebook computer v Place your notebook computer on a clean stable and covered surface to avoid damage to the computerscase v Follow the ESD Electrostatic Discharge damage prevention instructions o Hold partsby the edges away from exposed circuitry when possible o Do notwalk around excessively asthis promotes static build up v The appearance of the electronic components shown in the illustrations may be different from the components shipped This slight difference doesnot affect the accuracy of these instructions Sony is not responsible for any loss of data associated with your computer or any damage caused by incorect handling of the computerunderthese procedures The termsof your Sony limited warranty continue to apply Step 1 Prepare the Computer ZX CAUTION Make sure the computer is turned off the lid is closed and the AC Adapter is disconnected Failure to do so can result in damage to the computer Place the computer upside down on a protected surface with the front edge facing you P N 994643900 Rev C Push2. tabs in the release direction Step 2 Remove the Battery Pack Locate the two tabs as shown in the picture One is on the left end of the battery pack and the other is located on the right side Using your thumbs and fingers push both tabs in the release direction gently push the battery pack away from you 1 2 ODD Bay Step 3 Locate ODD Bay Rotate the computer with the Optical Disk Drive ODD Bay facing you as shown in the picture VG N C 1xx Senes Optical Disk Drive Replacement Instructions Step 4 Using the enclosed Step 5 To initiate the removal of the Step 6 With even force slide out magnetic screwdriver loosen up one ODD Bay pull slightly the ODD door the ODD as shown Some force 1 screw securing the ODD Bay as shown in the picture may be required to unlock the ODD from the connector Step 7 Hold the new ODD Bay by Step amp With an even force slide in Step 9 Make sure the new ODD the edges and align it with the the new ODD Bay Bay is seated flush on the edge of opening the computer Step 11 Reinstall the battery pack and return the old ODD to Sony following the included shipping instructions Step 10 Reinstall the one 1 screw previously removed 2 2
