6. is critical to this process is the RAID driver all others can be loaded after install This is because the Windows XP setup routine does not understand SATA disks configured in a RAID array which is the standard for Viiv enabled motherboards such as the one in this PC In a development blunder that beggars belief the setup routine demands that the RAID driver is on a floppy disk from an IDE floppy drive when almost no PCs still ship with floppy drives today The alternative is what we are doing here embedding the RAID driver in the install CD If you don t do this you will get a blue screen of death BSOD early on in the install te Driver Integration Options Storage Device Textmode Driver Choose the exact type of hardware and OS if listed Driver folder C Cleanlnstall Drivers RAID Mode Regular PNP driver Textmode driver Textmode integration options 090 OLO Hold CTAL to select multiple items Be careful if your controller even needs more than one Don t select different OS versions Cancel don t know which of these RAID drivers you actually need but selecting all of them does no harm so recommend doing that Select all the drivers and click OK nLite O Once you have selected all the drivers Drivers s you should see something like this Integrate drivers into the installation Provider Type Version Date Path SigmaTel MEDIA 5 10 5147 0 08 02 2006 C Cleanl

Sony VAIO VGX XL201 Media Center PC Clean Install Guide Version 1 0 Author William Warby Introduction When I purchased my VGX XL201 Media Center PC fully expected it to arrive preloaded with a myriad of freeware trialware and Sony branded software products and wasn t wrong Such is the trend when you buy almost any PC these days and don t doubt that many consumers are very grateful for it am not one of those consumers know what software want for any particular job and invariably it isn t the software provided by Sony Also due to the pace of software development by the time you receive your PC most of the freeware software will be out of date and Sony like most PC manufacturers these days have a tendency to give you old versions of retail applications like Adobe Photoshop Elements or WinDVD In their efforts to make life easier for novice PC users Sony inadvertently make the process of escaping from the factory installed image difficult even for competent PC users They create a hidden partition on the hard disk that contains the factory installed image and provide software to back up that partition to a pair of recordable DVDs This makes it possible to dispense with the hidden partition and recover the disk space and also provides the means by which you can extract the essential drivers and utilities that make a clean install possible What Sony don t do is give you an OEM operating system CD or any mean
