12. for that color Offset Use the Offset controls in the White Balance sub menu to correct color imbalances in the dark areas of the image A good way to do this is to use a test pattern consisting mostly of dark gray areas such as a 30 IRE window pattern If the gray areas contain traces of red Pr green Y or blue Pr decrease the Offset for that color e Gamma Gamma is a global setting that determines how gray shades are displayed between minimum input black and maximum input white for all signals A good gamma setting helps to optimize blacks and whites while ensuring smooth transitions for the in between values utilized in other grays Unlike Brightness and Contrast controls the overall tone of your images can be lightened or darkened without changing the extremes and all images will be more vibrant while still showing good detail in dark areas In all but the most unusual situations the appropriate Color Temp selection see below will produce accurate colors and a satisfying contrast level However it is Sometimes necessary to adjust the red blue and green gamma curves individually To do this select Gamma from the Display Color sub menu and use the left and right arrow buttons to manipulate the on screen slidebars Color Temp Select Color Temp from the Display Color menu to adjust the color temperature The default setting is appropriate for most situations Higher settings produce a

BLY ALL THE WAY IN Only push the lens assembly in far enough so that the front of the lens motor is clearly behind the projector chassis cover 6 Carefully rotate the lens assembly 45 degrees clockwise until the motor Socket connector is aligned with the connector on the flange Then gently push the lens assembly in until it is seated flush against the flange and the connectors have seated Runco VX 22d Owner s Operating Manual 23 Installation 3 5 Installing the Optional CineWide AutoScope Lens Motor Remove Projector Front Feet Make sure to route the wire harness in its original position and away from the moving lens stages and Motor Assembly to prevent unexpected disconnection or lens damage A Caution 7 Lock the lens in place by turning the Lens Locking Nut to the left of the lens 180 degrees counter clockwise Use a 6 0mm hex wrench Replace the Lens Cavity Front Cover Reattach the Projector Front Jewelry by sliding the top down onto the two retaining dowels Tighten the Phillips screw at the top of the projector to secure it 10 Remove the Front Lens Cap If you are installing a VX 22d with the optional CineWide with AutoScope system proceed as follows to install the AutoScope lens motor A Note 1 Do not install the CineWide lens yet only the lens motor You will install the CineWide lens after you install the projector and adjust the primary lens 2 Some components shipped

Mount lt Extension Brackets Figure 3 6 VX 22d With Ceiling Mount Extension Brackets 26 Runco VX 22d Owner s Operating Manual There are several methods for mounting the projector Depending on your chosen installation one method may be more suitable than another In typical front and rear screen installations the projector can be mounted to a secure and level surface such as a table or cart Carts are useful when moving a projector during a presentation or from site to site If possible lock the wheels when it s in position to prevent it from being moved during a presentation For fixed installations and for those that want the projector out of sight or have a limited space for projector and audience you can invert the VX 22d and suspend it from the ceiling using a specially designed ceiling mount fixture Use only the Runco approved ceiling mount kit designed for your A Note projector Install the mount kit according to the instructions provided with it The projector can also be inverted and placed in an enclosure above and behind the viewing area Install four feet on the inside bottom surface of the enclosure on which the projector can rest A variety of materials can be used for this purpose for example rubber crutch tips or turntable feet If the VX 22d is ceiling mounted and the screen is significantly lower than the projector you can tilt the projector at a slight angle by adjusting the ceiling mount I

28. ased on the assumption that older television sets may not display the outer edges of the broadcast picture area Over scan effectively trims away these inactive outer edges and enlarges the remaining portion of the image to fill the display area Select from 1 to 10 of Overscan as desired For HDTV DVDs and other video sources Overscan is generally not necessary or desirable Phase Adjust the phase if the image from an RGB or Component source shows shimmer or noise Pixel phase adjusts the phase of the pixel sampling clock relative to the incoming signal The effect of this control is similar to that of a tracking control on a VCR For best results use a good test pattern such as a smooth gray consisting of a clear pattern of black and white pixels or a similar half on half off graphic image You may find that you can stabilize the image at more than one point Use either setting in this case For each input the VX 22d lets you save image quality settings as presets that you can recall at a later time You can create up to four presets per input and resolution Use the ISF Presets menu to recall saved image presets or to save image settings in the Custom 1 or Custom 2 memory location The currently selected preset is indicated by a RX to its left in the example shown here ISF Night is selected You should save changes to any of the following settings to a preset otherwise they wil

67. tallation cost is usually higher Rear Screen Floor Mount with Mirror e Projector is completely hidden e Usually good ambient light rejection e Requires less space behind screen than other rear screen installations e Requires separate room e Installation cost is usually higher In general minimize or eliminate light sources directed at the screen Contrast ratio in your images will be noticeably reduced if light directly strikes the screen such as when a shaft of light from a window or floodlight falls on the image Images may then appear washed out and less vibrant Runco VX 22d Owner s Operating Manual 17 Installation 3 3 Installation Considerations lt Installation Type Ambient Light Installation Throw Distance Throw distance is the distance measured from the front of the projector to the screen This is an important calculation in any projector installation as it determines whether or not you have enough room to install your projector with a desired screen size and if your image will be the right size for your screen You can quickly estimate the throw distance by taking the width of the screen and multiplying it by the lens throw ratio see Figure 3 1 The result of this calculation tells you roughly how far back the projector should be positioned from the screen in order to project a focused image large enough to fill the screen Estimating Throw Distance Throw Dista
