TUTTI registration has been stored and can be recalled anytime see Switching all tilt tabs on TUTTI or off CANCEL on p 26 Release the Fortepiano II button 27 Additional Convenient Functionality lt Advanced Operation gt Choosing different organ voices and setting their volume Voice Palette Choosing a different voice for a tilt tab Voice Palette function The C 230 contains 4 different voices for each of the 2 ORGAN BASS and the 9 CLASSIC ORGAN tilt tabs The PRINCIPAL 8 tab for instance can be used to select the Principal 8 Open Diapason 8 Montre 8 or Prinzi pal 8 voice See p 43 for a complete list of the available voices To select a different voice for one of the tilt tabs proceed as follows Press and hold the lower part of the tilt tab for which you wish to select a different voice CLASSIC ORGAN After a few seconds the tilt tab flashes and one button in the Harpsichord section lights to indicate which of the four voices is selected The other 3 buttons flash To choose a different voice press the desired button in the Harpsichord section The button you press lights while the remaining three buttons flash You can play on the keyboard to audition the voice you selected If you are satisfied with the newly selected voice you can press the lower part of the flashing tilt tab you selected earlier If you are not satisfied you can return to the previousl
13. and receive performance data to and from an external device By connecting the C 230 to other devices via these connectors you can take advantage of a wide range of possibilities E Connecting a MIDI sequencer to the C 230 e To prevent malfunction and or damage to speakers or other devices always turn down the volume and turn off the power on all devices before making any connections Before you carry out any operations using the C 230 s panel stop the MIDI sequencer MIDI sequencer MIDI IN 1 oa os O MIDI OUT NOTE The C 230 s MIDI channels are fixed Refer to the MIDI implementation chart on p 44 for the channel assignments and the MIDI data the C 230 can manage Important note regarding the ORGAN BASS part If you connect a sequencer or any other MIDI device that sends Active Sensing OxFE and or MIDI Clock OxF8 messages to the C 230 the left half of the keyboard can no longer trigger the ORGAN BASS part If you need to play the ORGAN BASS part from the keyboard do one of the following e Switch off the transmission of Active Sensing and or MIDI Clock messages on the transmitting device if those messages can be filtered or e Switch off the C 230 then press and hold its Function and Harpsichord 4 buttons while switching the C 230 back on The C 230 now filters the aforesaid messages and the ORGAN BASS part can be played from the keyboard 40 Additional Conv

15. hallmark of the classic organ Providing a rich and spacious ensemble sound complemented by crystal clear definition the C 230 will take you to new musical heights while sustaining the tradition of quality craftsmanship and innovation The sound producing mechanism of the harpsichord the sound of the key release and the resonance of the sounding board have been carefully analyzed and digital technology is used to reproduce faithfully even the sound of the plectrum contacting the string when a key is released You ll be able to enjoy beautiful and realistic harpsichord sound The fortepiano the precursor of the piano as we know it today produces its sounds via its strings that are struck by hammers operated by a keyboard The fortepiano is built entirely of wood the strings are struck by hammers covered in hide producing a metallic and brilliant sound It enabled artists to pave new ways and therefore explore new possibilities of expression In addition there are 18 Others sounds that can be used either in isolation or together with the organ section for a richer sound E Five temperaments to support historically correct tuning In addition to equal temperament you can choose from Werckmeister Kirnberger Vallotti and Meantone giving you five temperaments that can be easily selected by pressing a single button 10 There s also a Transpose function which makes it easy to transpose the pitch for additional ways to
16. keep the unit s volume at reasonable levels You may prefer to use headphones so you do not need to be concerned about those around you especially when it is late at night When you need to transport the unit pack it in shock absorbent material Transporting the unit without doing so can cause it to become scratched or damaged and could lead to malfunction Do not apply undue force to the music stand while it is in use Use only the specified expression pedal EV 7 sold separately By connecting any other expression pedals you risk causing malfunction and or damage to the unit Some connection cables contain resistors Do not use cables that incorporate resistors for connecting to this unit The use of such cables can cause the sound level to be extremely low or impossible to hear For information on cable specifications contact the manufacturer of the cable Depending on the circumstances of a particular setup you may experience a discomforting sensation or perceive that the surface feels gritty to the touch when you touch the metal portions of other objects such as guitars This is due to an infinitesimal electrical charge which is absolutely harmless However if you are concerned about this connect the ground terminal see the figure on p 13 with an external ground When the unit is grounded a slight hum may occur depending on the particulars of your installation If you are unsure of the connection method contac
17. objects to remain on top of the keyboard This can be the cause of malfunction such as keys ceasing to produce sound Do not paste stickers decals or the like to this instrument Peeling such matter off the instrument may damage the exterior finish Depending on the material and temperature of the surface on which you place the unit its rubber feet may discolor or mar the surface You can place a piece of felt or cloth under the rubber feet to prevent this from happening If you do so please make sure that the unit will not slip or move acciden tally Maintenance To clean the unit use a dry soft cloth or one that is slightly dampened Try to wipe the entire surface using an equal amount of strength moving the cloth along with the grain of the wood Rubbing too hard in the same area can damage the finish Never use benzine thinners alcohol or solvents of any kind to avoid the possibility of discoloration and or deformation Additional Precautions Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit s buttons sliders or other controls and when using its jacks and connectors Rough handling can lead to malfunctions When connecting disconnecting all cables grasp the connector itself never pull on the cable This way you will avoid causing shorts or damage to the cable s internal elements A small amount of heat will radiate from the unit during normal operation To avoid disturbing your neighbors try to

19. want to use for your recording See p 17 and following for details NOTE The C 230 has only one internal song memory If you already recorded another song since switching on the C 230 that song will be erased without warning when you perform the next step To keep that song you need to save it before continuing See Saving your song to a USB memory stick on p 33 Also note that your last recording in the temporary memory is erased when you switch off the C 230 N Press the REC button it flashes Press the STOP button if decide not to record 3 Press the PLAY PAUSE button or play the keyboard to start recording Recording begins after a count in of two bars If you start recording by pressing a key on the keyboard there is no count in recording will begin immediately The PLAY PAUSE and REC buttons light 4 Start playing Feel free to select different sounds and sections while recording All changes will be performed when you play back your recording NOTE While the C 230 is recording it is impossible to assign different voices to the ORGAN BASS CLASSIC ORGAN tilt tabs Voice Palette Function or different sounds to the Celesta and or Chime buttons 5 Press the STOP button to stop recording and return to the beginning of the song The PLAY PAUSE and REC buttons go dark The C 230 now processes your recording which may take a few seconds NOTE Once the memo
