Slide the wheel alignment control toward L if the Avalanche is pulling to the right or toward R if the Avalanche is pulling to the left RACING TWO OR MORE CARS TOGETHER The Avalanche and other radio controlled cars use specific frequencies to operate Cars with different control frequencies can race together without interference Cars with the same frequency cannot The following chart shows the control frequencies for your Avalanche You can select any of these bands to operate your Avalanche Band Frequency A 27 095 MHz B 27 145 MHz C 27 195 MHz CARE Keep the truck dry if it gets wet wipe it dry immediately Use and store the truck only in normal temperature environments Handle the truck carefully do not drop it Keep the truck away from dust and dirt and wipe it with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new SERVICE AND REPAIR If your truck is not performing as it should take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance Modifying or tampering with the truck s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC authorization to operate it RadioShack Corporation Fort Worth Texas 76102 60 4330 05A02 Printed in China

6. be Then insert the tube securely into the Avalanche s antenna tube holder INSTALLING BATTERIES INTHE TRANSMITTER The transmitter requires one 9V battery For the best performance and longest life we recommend a RadioShack alkaline battery A 4 1 Slide the transmitter s OFF ON switch to OFF 2 Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow marked on it to open it 3 Place the battery in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols and marked inside 4 Replace the cover and snap it shut When the transmitter s range decreases replace its battery INTHE AVALANCHE Your Avalanche requires one 9V battery and a rechargeable 7 2V battery pack neither supplied Before you use the battery pack you must charge it using a battery charger not supplied Follow the charger s instructions to charge the battery pack 1 Slide the ON OFF switch under the Avalanche to OFF 2 Use a coin to turn the battery compartment cover s latch toward OPEN Then slide the battery compartment cover forward and lift it off 3 Place the 9V battery in the battery compartment according to the polarity symbols and marked inside 4 Place the battery pack in the recessed area with the battery pack s connector on the same side as the Avalanche s matching connector amp 5 Attach the battery pack s connector to the Avalanche s matching connector They fit together only one way Do not forc
7. e them 6 Close the cover If the Avalanche does not respond to the transmitter replace the 9V batteries in the Avalanche and the transmitter If the Avalanche loses power replace or recharge the battery pack X To remove the battery pack open the cover as described in Step 2 Then slide the pack toward the pack s connector and lift the other side of the battery pack Unplug the connectors and remove the battery pack X CAUTION 4 Be sure the connectors and wires do not touch any of the Avalanche s moving parts Use only the recommended battery pack and charger After you charge or recharge the battery pack disconnect it from the charger Overcharging the battery pack could damage it When you disconnect the battery pack from the charger do not pull on the connector s wires You might damage the battery pack X NOTE X 8 XL v pa 5 S Pag 2 Gq If you want to run your Avalanche for extended periods we suggest you purchase an extra battery pack You can charge one while you use the other Occasionally let the battery pack fully discharge before recharging it Otherwise the battery pack loses its ability to fully charge 1 IMPORTANT Important The EPA certified RBRC Battery Recycling Seal on the nickel cadmium Ni Cd battery indicates RadioShack is voluntarily participating in an industry program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end
8. left or right adjust TRIM II until the tires appear to be straight 5 When you finish the adjustment slide ON OFF on both the Avalanche and the transmitter to OFF X ADJUSTING THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT Wheel Alignment Control If the Avalanche does not drive in a straight line when you pull the speed control trigger adjust the wheel alignment control L R on the side of the Avalanche N WARNING AN Do not touch the motor immediately after using the Avalanche as it might become hot during use W HNT Y If the Avalanche s motor runs but it does not respond to the transmitter move closer to the Avalanche and try again If the Avalanche moves slowly and you have installed fresh batteries and a freshly recharged battery pack check the wheel mechanisms for lint thread hair or dust If someone uses a CB nearby it might interfere with control of the Avalanche If this happens move the Avalanche away from the CB You cannot operate the Avalanche near devices with transmitters that use the same frequency as your Avalanche 27 MHz with 3 bands X NOTE X Do not touch the tires or the steering control during this adjustment You might have to further fine tune the trim controls after using the Avalanche for a while X CAUTION 44 Never set TRIM I to make the Avalanche continually move Adjusting the Trim Controls Limited Ninety Day Warranty This product is w

10. ransmitter and the Avalanche to ON IA ei ON OFF BAND ABC 3 Select the specific frequency by setting BAND ABC on the transmitter and the Avalanche to the same band TRIM I TRIM II OFF ON Steering Control Wheel Speed Control Trigger 4 Use the transmitter s trigger and wheel to drive and steer the Avalanche A 4 Speed Control Trigger Pull to the left to move forward Pull all the way to the left for maximum speed Push to the right to move backward Release to stop Steering Control Wheel Turn left to move left Turn right to move right Release to drive straight 5 When you finish playing with the Avalanche slide ON OFF on both the Avalanche and the transmitter to OFF A X ADJUSTING THE TRIM CONTROLS The transmitter s neutral trim control TRIM I above OFF ON lets you fine tune the speed control so the Avalanche completely stops when you release the speed control to its center position The transmitter s steering trim control TRIM Il above OFF ON lets you fine tune the steering so the Avalanche drives in a straight line when you set the steering control to its center position 1 Place the Avalanche ona block or turn it over so the tires do not touch the ground 2 Slide OFF ON on both the transmitter and the Avalanche to ON 3 If the tires move turn TRIM I until the tires stop 4 If the front tires appear to angle
