4. avoid violent shocks With this satellite tuner you can receive FSS Fixed Service Satellite and DBS Direct Broadcast Satellite programmes transmitted in accordance with the PAL SECAM and new D2 MAC standards The operation of the tuner can differ depending on whether you are receiving PAL SECAM or D2 MAC signals Both posibilities are covered separately throughout these instructions The drawings in the text are accompanied by figures e g Ml These correspond to the figures on the fold out flap 1 Ga 1 INSTALLATION Positioning the Satellite Tuner The set is intended for use in a domestic environment only and should never be operated or stored in excessively hot or humid atmospheres e Choose a position at some distance away from radiators or other sources of heat Leave some space of no less than 3 cm all round the set for ventilation making sure that curtains cupboards etc cannot obstruct the air flow through the ventilation apertures Inserting batteries in the remote control Remove the cover of the battery compartment e Insert three type AA batteries e Replace the cover Connections Do NOT connect or modify cables while the satellite tuner is switched on If necessary press POWER to switch the tuner off Connecting the dish antenna First install the dish antenna and the Low Noise Converter LNC according to the manufacturer s instructions Each LNC has its own output

10. cable 2 Ga Plugging in the input cables e If you have one cable plug the connector into INPUT 1 e If you have two cables plug the connectors into 8 INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 e If you have more than two cables use antenna selection boxes to collect the cables into two groups each with a single output cable e Then plug the connectors of these cables into INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 INPUT 2 INPUT 1 Setting the ANTENNA CONTROL You can only set the ANTENNA CONTROL A to the required position when the tuner is switched off If necessary press POWER to switch the tuner off Position 1 If the distance cable length between the tuner and the dish antenna is more than 30 metres In this case an extra amplifier is necessary to supply the LNC Position 2 If you have one or two LNCs This is the most common case In this case the tuner supplies the LNC via the cable 15V 400mA max Position 3 lf you have more than two LNCs You can connect a total of eight LNCs to your tuner through antenna selection boxes Each converter is supplied via a box or a separate amplifier By means of a switching voltage which you can programme on your tuner you can select from eight signals 2 inputs x 4 voltages This voltage is present on INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 when you select the respective LNC A1 to A8 using button ANTENNA later on see Selecting the proper satellite antenna input and polarization in the

19. p flashing Kl STORE SEARCH EXECUTE gt Press POWER again to switch off the satellite tuner 12 Switch off the TV The normal TV programmes are only passed on to your TV when the satellite tuner is switched on or switched to standby see the Section Operation Connecting the polarizer Signals from a satellite tuner are transmitted with different polarizations There are 4 kinds of polarizations DBS TV satellites like TDF and TV SAT transmit with circular polarization left hand circular L or right hand circular R All other satellites like ASTRA transmit with linear polarization horizontal H or vertical V To distinguish between these polarizations automatically you need a device called a polarizer This device is connected to your satellite antenna Your satellite tuner can automatically control this polarizer by means of the connections given Afterwards you can programme with each preset the proper polarization To make the satellite tuner select the proper polarization with each preset automatically Connect the 3 small leads coming from your antenna cable to the POLARIZER connectors on the back of your satellite tuner the black lead to GND e the redleadto 5V e the white lead to Jl GND 45V N SKEW AAA POLARIZER 2 Additional connections AUDIO LLA R If you wish to use your HiFi installation to listen to satellite programmes e Conn
