1. Commissioning A Caution Always and only use fresh tap water in the water boiler Do NOT consume water that is not specifi cally designated as drinking water If you do there will be a risk of damage to your health Before taking the appliance into use ensure that the appliance the plug and the power cable are in good working order and all packaging materials have been removed from the device Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking and let it come to a full boil once as described in the next section e After it has boiled pour this water away Rinse the water boiler out with clear water Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking on the scale and then bring it to the boil When done pour this water away also The appliance is now ready for use A Danger Never place the electrical base in close proximity to water a potentially fatal risk A Caution Always use fresh tap water Do not consume any water that has already stood in the water boiler for longer than one hour Do not reboil water that has cooled down Always pour old water away Microbes could have formed in it Lift the kettle off of the base when filling it e Open the lid by pressing the unlocking button O Hold the kettle upright while filling it Only in this way can you correctly read the markings on the scale Fill the kettle atleast to the MIN mark so that the device does2. 5. leaning the appliance remove the plug from the mains power socket and allow the appliance to cool down e Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cord with a slighly damp cloth Be sure to dry the appliance well before taking it back into use For stainless steel surfaces you can use appropriate cleaning agents from a specialized dealer e Never use detergents abrasive cleaners or solvents These can damage the appliance In the event of scale deposits e Before descaling remove the pourer sieve see chapter Removing replacing the pourer sieve e Obtain any decalcifying agent suitable for kitchen utensils e g decalcifiers for coffee machines from a hardware shop Proceed as detailed in the instructions provided for the use of the decalcfying agent Removing replacing the pouring sieve e Open the lid Press the retainer at the top of the pourer sieve down and at the same time pull the pourer sieve inwards e Remove the pourer sieve 6 e Clean the pouring sieve with a lightly moistened dishcloth and under running water e Replace the pourer sieve after cleaning it Ensure that the retainer engages and that the pourer sieve is firmly seated Notice Should the scale deposits in the pourer sieve be firmly established lay it in a water vinegar solution having a ratio of 6 1 for a few hours The scale deposits will dissolve themselves Rinse the pourer sieve with lots of clear water
6. not overheat no higher than the MAX mark so that no boiling water spills out First close the lid and then place the kettle onto the base 6 ensuring that it is is firmly seated on the base 6 e Now insert the plug into the mains power socket Press the ON OFF switch down until it engages downwards e The control lamp integrated in the scale as well as the control lamp in the on off switch indicate that the appliance is now heating itself up e The appliance switches itself off and the control lamps go out as soon as the water is on the boil The ON OFF switch is released upwards A Warning First remove the plug from the wall power socket before you lift the kettle from the base This avoids the risk that any water splashing out could come into contact with live electrical connections in the base 6 which could cause a short circuit A Injury hazard For safety reasons the lid should not be opened while the water is boiling or is very hot There is a risk of receiving severe scalds Cleaning and Care A Danger Do not open any part of the housing There are no user servicable elements inside An open housing can create the risk of a lethal electrical shock Never submerse any parts of the appliance in water or other liquids This can create the risk of a life threatening electrical shock if residual liquid comes into contact with powered components Risk of personal injuries Before c
