2. aga Pe Any ices CUSTOM mort kE RY SELECTIONS DALE Less AS MOIST ORY n J OPTIONS QUICK PRESS SMOOTH GUARD rc en a EEE Touch the CUSTOM DRY Selec tion that describes the dryness you want for the load The dryer will begin tumbling immediately j ae A sensor on the back of the dryer drum senses the moisture in the load When the selected dryness has been reached the dryer automati cally shuts off If dryness is not what you expected use the following as a guide e For the first few loads use NORMAL When finished check the load for desired dryness e If the load is not dry enough use MORE or VERY DRY the next time o f the load is too dry use LESS the next time e If you plan to iron the clothes after drying use MOIST DRY When selecting a CUSTOM DRY Selection the TIME Display will show AU After a period of tum bling the dryer will calculate and show the remaining time needed to dry the load This time will count down until the cycle ends NOTE If you decide to switch to TIME drying after the dryer has started tumbling follow the instruc tions To Manually Set TIME which follow When TIME UP or TIME DOWN is touched the CUSTOM DRY Selection will automatically be cancelled TIME m ORYING COOt DOWN Loads can also be dried with a manually set TIME cycle To Manually Set TIME e Touch TIME UP or TIME DOWN Pad for loads y

5. when the CYCLE SENTRY is ON e The signal loudness is not adjustable To Cancel CYCLE SENTRY OPTIONS QUICK PRESS SMOOTH GUARD CYCLE SENTRY aia m Cape amp e Touch CYCLE SENTRY Pad any time during the cycle The light will go off showing that the option has been cancelled FEATURES The Indicator Lights DRYING m COOL DOWN m SMOOTH GUARD CLEAN SCREEN The indicator lights show what por tion of the drying cycle the dryer is in DRYING COOL DOWN SMOOTH GUARD DRYING indicates the dryer is in the drying portion of the cycle COOL DOWN indicates that the dryer is in the COOL DOWN portion of the cycle See Cool Down section on this page SMOOTH GUARD indicates the dryer is in SMOOTH GUARD See page 7 for more SMOOTH GUARD information CLEAN SCREEN Clean the lint screen before each load If you neglect to clean the lint screen the CLEAN SCREEN light will glow This light lets you know the air flow is being restricted Restricted air flow causes longer drying times and can become a safety hazard Turn off the dryer and clean the lint screen as shown on page 11 PAUSE RESTART Pad The PAUSE RESTART Pad allows you to stop the dryer to check the load clean the lint screen or to pro vide additional cycle selection time 8 When PAUSE RESTART is touched the dryer stops and the indicator light for the cycle you were using flashes The dryer will re member where it wa

10. h may cause pieces of glass to be come imbedded in clothing Operating the dryer with the bulb cover removed can cause the dryer to failor create a FIRE HAZARD Dryer Care REMOVE LOOSE AND SHARP OBJECTS such as pins buckles etc from clothing before drying Close metal zippers WIPE OFF ALL SPILLS with a damp soft cloth Spills allowed to remain may dull or damage the finish NEVER leave wet or damp laundry in your dryer Clothes may become damaged SHARP OR HEAVY OBJECTS should never be put on or in the dryer Check pockets for bolts nuts etc 13 SOME PRETREATMENT PROD UCTS can damage the dryer but tons consoles and finishes Do 1 Unplug the power cord or turn off not use these products on or near the electrical power your dryer Cleaning the Dryer Interior WARNING Before cleaning inte rior unplug power supply cord or turn off electrical power at the circuit breaker or fuse box to avoid electrical hazard Garments which contain unstable dyes such as denim blue jeans or brightly colored cotton items may discolor the dryer interior If the interior is discolored clean with one of the following methods to avoid staining later load items valve 3 Clean the lint screen Powdered laundry detergent and very warm water Make a paste with detergent and very warm water Apply paste to a soft cloth and scrub area until all excess dye is removed Wipe
11. hese materials 5 NEVER use heat to dry articles containing foam rubber or similarly textured rubber like materials 6 FIRE HAZARD and DAMAGE to some materials can result from operating the dryer with the lint screen loose damaged or missing e allowing lint to build up inside the dryer and exhaust system The exhaust duct and interior of your dryer should be cleaned by a qualified technician at least once every two years See page 11 for lint removal instructions 7 NEVER allow children to play on or in the dryer Close supervision is necessary when this or any appliance is used near children 8 When discarding an old dryer ALWAYS remove the door to prevent accidental entrapment 9 DO NOT tamper with the controls 10 DO NOT reach into the dryer if the drum is moving 11 DO NOT let dust lint paper rags chemicals etc pile up around or under the dryer DO NOT install against drapes or curtains Keep area around the exhaust opening free from accumulation of lint dust and dirt 12 DO NOT install or perform any servicing unless you are qualified Improper installation repair or servicing may result in personal INJURY or FIRE HAZARD 13 DO NOT use fabric softeners or products to eliminate static unless recommended by the manufacturer of this fabric softener or product 14 Clean lint screen before each load SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS OWNERSHIP REGISTRATION Before using your dryer please fill out and mail your ownership
12. ou want to dry by time A short tone will sound and the TIME Display will show 30 minutes The dryer will begin to tumble immediately e If more time is desired touch TIME UP until the time you want shows in the Display TIME can be set up to 99 minutes e If less time is desired touch TIME DOWN until the time you want shows in the Display TIME can be set down to 1 minute The TIME Selection is good for very small loads or large bulky items If you decide to switch to a CUSTOM DRY Selection after the dryer has started tumbling follow the instruc tions under the CUSTOM DRY section When a CUSTOM DRY Selection has been made the Dis play will read AU After a period of tumbling the dryer will calculate and show the remaining time needed to dry the load This time will count down until the cycle ends IMPORTANT If the load you have finished drying is not dry enough 1 Touch OFF then touch ON 2 Touch a CYCLE SELECTION for the load type 3 Touch TIME UP or TIME DOWN for the number of addi tional minutes needed Remember to select a differ ent dryness setting for the next similar load OPTIONS QUICK PRESS Option l J PATE OPTIONS dk PRESS SMOOTH GUARD CYCLE SENTRY e Ar This selection is useful for remov ing wrinkles from items which have been packed in suitcases or closets Touching the QUICK PRESS Pad automatically gives you 15 minutes of tumbling at the medium fabric tempera
13. reen blocked by lint can increase drying time and may be a FIRE HAZARD WARNING DO NOT run the dryer with the lint screen loose damaged or missing Doing so can cause overheating can damage fabrics and can be a FIRE HAZARD 1 Open the lid and pull the lint screen straight out 2 ROLL the lint off the screen with your fingers Do not rinse or wash the screen 3 Push the screen firmly back into place NOTE See your DRYER GUIDE for more information LINT REMOVAL Lint can gather inside the dryer and create a fire hazard This lint should be removed every 2 years or more often depending on dryer usage WARNING e Avoid electrical shock hazard Unplug the power supply cord or turn off the electrical power at circuit breaker or fuse box e Avoid injury or damage Do not put hands inside the cabinet e Avoid burn injury Make sure the dryer is cool Temperature Hi Limit Thermostat Sensor Cleaning should be done by a qualified person 1 Remove back panel electric or lower access panel gas 2 Avoid damaging wires ther mostats funnel or igniter 3 Remove lint from shaded area with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner 4 Replace panel reconnect and re level dryer 12 CARING FOR YOUR DRYER The Console Light mee The fluorescent console light is under the console top The Console Light switch is on the bottom right side of the console To tu

15. rn on the light push in the switch and hold it for asecond or two Push the switch again to turn the light off Replacing the Console Light WARNING To avoid possible shock hazard unplug dryer power cord or turn off electrical ing it with both hands near each end and lifting the front edge up 2 Remove lamp socket safety cover at each end of fluorescent tube 3 Grasp fluorescent tube at both ends Turn tube away from you un til both ends come out of the re ceptacles Replace with a 15 watt cool white F15T8 fluorescent tube 4 Replace lamp socket safety cov ers and close the console top 5 Plug in the dryer power cord or turn the electrical power back on at the main power supply The Drum Light The Drum Light automatically comes on inside the dryer drum when the dryer loading door is opened Replacing the Drum Light WARNING To avoid possible shock hazard unplug the dryer power cord or turn off the elec trical power at the main power supply 1 Open the dryer door and remove light bulb cover by turning it clockwise 2 Remove the light bulb by turning it counterclockwise 3 Replace the bulb with a 40 watt appliance bulb only 4 Replace the light bulb cover and lock it in place by turning counterclockwise WARNING The bulb cover must be securely in place during dryer operation to prevent over heating possible damage to fabrics and the possibility of bulb breakage whic
16. s in that cycle for up to 15 minutes To restart the dryer touch PAUSE RESTART again If the dryer is not restarted within 15 minutes it will automat ically shut off AIR TUMBLE Selection CLE SELECTIONS T PRESS DELICATES Nea pare IM DRY SELECTIONS AIR TUMBLE automatically provides 20 minutes of timed drying without heat If more or less time is wanted touch the corresponding TIME Pad ACUSTOM DRY Selection cannot be used with AIR TUMBLE WARNING Drying plastic or rub ber items with heat may damage the items or be a FIRE HAZARD Cushioned Heat During the last 5 minutes of each cycle the dryer temperature gradu ally reduces to a lower setting The dryer automatically reduces the heat settings in all cycles except the AIR TUMBLE cycle COOL DOWN takes over automatically after Cushioned Heat is finished This helps prevent overdrying Cool Down In all cycles the heat shuts off before the dryer stops tumbling The length of cool down time varies with each load This cool down time helps e Keep wrinkles from setting in e Make handling the hot load items easier CYCLE SELECTION CHART This chart suggests fabric loads and cycle selections CYCLE TYPE OF LOAD SELECTION Cottons and Linens EXTRA HEAVY Bedspreads mattress pads quilts HEAVYWEIGHT FABRICS Towels jeans corduroys work clothes REGULAR MEDIUMWEIGHT COTTONS Sheets pillowcases HEAVY cotton underwear di
17. thor oughly with a damp cloth Tumble a load of rags OR Liquid spray household cleaner Spray on stained area Rub with a cloth until all excess dye is removed Tumble a load of rags 14 IF YOU NEED SERVICE OR ASSISTANCE Follow These Steps 1 If your dryer should fail to operate review the following list before calling your dealer You could save the cost of a service call If your dryer does not run e Is the power supply cord plugged into a live circuit with the proper voltage e Is the door closed tightly e Have you checked your home s main fuses or circuit breaker box e Did you touch ON Did you touch a CYCLE Selection The dryer will not begin tumbling until a CYCLE Selection is made If your dryer does not heat e The AIR TUMBLE Selection does not use heat Heat is not used during the last few minutes of each cycle selection e Is the gas turned on If not touch OFF pad Turn on the gas Wait 5 minutes then touch ON Pad and reset the controls e An electric dryer requires two fuses Or a Circuit breaker If one fuse is blown the dryer may run but not heat If drying times seem too long e Is the lint screen clean e Is the load too large e See page 6 of your DRYER GUIDE TIME If the TIME Display shows E1 or E2 call for service 2 If the problem is not due to one of the above items first call your dealer or repair service he recommends e All servi
18. ture and 5 more minutes of cool down without heat The TIME Display will automatically show 20 minutes For best results QUICK PRESS only a few items at a time Put them on hangers or fold them as soon as the dryer stops SMOOTH GUARD Option PTIONS QUICK PRESS NSA IM GUARO CYCLE SENTAY S a ARESE A When SMOOTH GUARD is on it takes over automatically when the dry cycle is completed SMOOTH GUARD tumbles the load without heat every 5 minutes to help prevent wrinkles that set in when the load remains in the dryer It continues up to 2 hours or until the door is opened to remove the clothes e If SMOOTH GUARD is cancelled during SMOOTH GUARD opera tion the dryer will shut off e SMOOTH GUARD Indicator Light will stay on as long as the dryer is running Remember that SMOOTH GUARD is selected automatically every time you use the dryer To cancel SMOOTH GUARD e Touch SMOOTH GUARD Pad any time during the cycle The light will go off showing that the option has been cancelled OPTIONS SMOOTH GUARD CYCLE q CH QUICK PRESS U En CYCLE SENTRY Signal Option Peel ee 1 J OPTIONS QUICK PRESS SMOOTH cuano cy sentay _ C o w AS The dryer will automatically beep 5 times atthe end of acycle The dryer will also beep every 5 minutes when tumbling in SMOOTH GUARD These signals tell you the dryer cycle is finished and the load can be removed The light will stay on
19. ze of the load e Room temperature around the dryer e Temperature of the wash rinse water e Amount of lint in the lint screen e Dryer temperature selection 10 See your DRYER GUIDE for more information Using the Drying Rack The drying rack lets you dry items that you may not want to tumble For example sneakers stuffed toys knitted wool etc The rack does not move but the drum turns around the rack Make sure nothing hangs over the edges of the rack To Use the Drying Rack 1 Fit rear legs of rack into indenta tions in back wall of dryer 2 Lower front so legs rest on dryer opening 3 Put wet items on top of the rack Leave space between items so air can reach all surfaces 4 Close the door and set the time desired for drying Drying Time Selection The drying time will depend on how much moisture the items hold The following chart suggests Cycle Selections with temperature settings that match the different kinds of items that might best be rack dried CYCLE SELECTION TO RACK DRY Wool Sweaters Block to shape and lay flat on the rack Stuffed Toys or Pillows Cotton or olyester iber filled Foam rubber filled Sneaker or Canvas Shoes AIR TUMBLE WARNING Drying with heat may damage the foam rubber and may be a FIRE HAZARD DELICATES PERM T PRESS AIR TUMBLE LINT SCREEN Clean the lint screen before each load A sc
