Surface unit markers The triangle by each surface unit y control knob shows which surface unit is turned on by that knob Power on lights When you use a control knob to turn on a surface unit the Power On Light will glow Control setting guide For best results start cooking at the high setting then turn the control knob down to continue cooking SETG RECOMMENDED USE e To start foods cooking e To bring liquids to a boil e To hold a rapid boil e To fry chicken or pancakes e For gravy pudding and icing e To cook large amounts of vegetables e To keep food cooking after starting it ona higher setting LO e To keep food warm until ready to serve Using and Caring for Your Cooktop amp The glass ceramic cooktop Standard Hot surface Halogen elements indicator elements lights Cooking on the glass ceramic cooktop is almost the same as cooking on coil surface units There are however a few differences e The glass ceramic cooktop may take slightly longer to heat up than a coil surface unit It will also take a little longer to cool down e You will see the element cycling on glowing red and off to maintain the proper temperature setting you have selected You may even see some cycling when the control knob is set at HI e The surface units on the right side of the cooktop feature halogen elements These elements light up as soon as you turn them on and are brigh

9. recommended baking times NOTE Cooking time may be longer when you use more than one rack 37 Using and Caring for Your Oven e When baking on two or three racks use the Convection Bake setting for more even results You can however use only one rack when Convection Baking i e To use three racks during convection baking place one straight rack in position 4 the highest position the other straight rack in position 1 the closest to the oven bottom and the offset rack in position 2 This allows all three racks to be an equal distance apart for better baking e Stagger cake pans or other utensils in opposite directions on each rack when three racks are used Roasting tips e Spatter can be reduced by lining the bottom of the roasting pan with lightly crushed aluminum foil e Use an accurate meat thermometer or temperature probe see page 22 to determine when meat has reached desired degree of doneness Insert the thermom eter or probe into the center of the thickest portion of the meat or inner thigh or breast of poultry For an accurate reading the tip of the thermometer or probe should not touch fat bone or gristle 38 e After reading the thermometer once push it further into the meat 1 inch or more and read again If the temperature drops return the meat to the oven for more cooking e Check pork and poultry with a thermom eter in 2 3 places to ensure adequate doneness e Poul
