6. close each time the button is pressed e When the B M S switch is set to the REMOTE position the centre unit will control the slide panel If you want to adjust the control inside the slide panel you can open close the slide panel temporarily by pressing the OPEN CLOSE button elf the slide panel meets an obstacle whilst sliding the slide operation will be halted If this happens remove the obstacle and then press the OPEN CLOSE button again e When the B M S is in the REMOTE position and control operations are carried out on the centre unit the slide panel will return to the status set on the centre unit even if it is opened closed using the OPEN CLOSE button elf the centre unit power is switched OFF or the vehicle engine is turned OFF when the slide panel is open the slide panel will automatically close When the power is turned back ON or when the vehicle engine is turned ON the slide panel will carry out an action depending on the setting status of the M S switch as follows f the B M S switch is in the REMOTE position the slide panel will obey the setting on the centre unit f the B M S switch is in the B M S 6 position the slide panel will return to its original open state ACAUTION Take care not to allow your finger or any other object to be trapped by the slide panel whilst it is sliding 0 English 7 Indicator

9. and speakers from troubles The unit stops to function when the protection function is activated e When the OPERATION PROTECTION indicator blinks e A speaker cable may be short circuited e A speaker output may be in contact with the ground e The temperature of the internal parts may be higher than 120 C 248 F e The fuse of this unit may be blown e The unit may be malfunctioning and sending DC signal to the speaker output e When the POWER indicator and the OPERATION PROTECTION function both go out e The fuse of this unit may be blown e When the LOW VOLTAGE indicator glows or blinks e Is the battery exhausted e The car battery has a small capacity e f the battery cable is too thin or too long it will not be able to supply enough power e Is the battery cable deteriorated Connection E Power cable connection AWARNING To prevent fire caused by a short in the wiring connect a fusible link or breaker nearby the battery s positive terminal Wiring e If a buzzing noise is heard from the speakers when the engine is running connect a line noise filter optional to each of the battery cable e Do not allow the cable to directly contact the edge of the iron plate by using Grommets e Connect the ground cable to a metal part of the car chassis that acts as an electrical ground passing electricity to the battery s negative terminal Do not turn the power on if the ground cable is not connected
10. button B M S FREQUENCY control When the B M S switch is set to the B M S 6 position this control can be used to adjust the central frequency that you want to emphasise 3 OPEN CLOSE button Each time you press this button the slide panel either opens or closes Slide panel 6 English NOTE elf the slide panel meets an obstacle whilst sliding the slide operation will be halted If this happens remove the obstacle and then press the OPEN CLOSE button again elf the centre unit power is switched OFF or the vehicle engine is switched OFF whilst the slide panel is open the slide panel will then close automatically The next time the power is turned ON or the vehicle engine is turned ON the slide panel will return to its original open state elf the B M S switch setting is changed to REMOTE the slide panel will close in preparation for remote operation even if the EXT AMP CONT terminal is not connected ACAUTION Take care not to allow your finger or any other object to be trapped by the slide panel whilst it is sliding E f the unit is going to be operated from the centre unit The amount of bass boost and the opening closing of the slide panel can be controlled from the centre unit Additionally up to 3 power amplifiers can be set at the same time NOTE enwood centre units released in 1999 or later having an EXT AMP CONT cable operate this unit Instructio

KENWOOD KAC PS501F INSTRUCTION MANUAL KENWOOD CORPORATION Safety precautions AWARNING To prevent injury or fire take the following precautions e When extending the ignition battery or ground cables make sure to use automotive grade cables or other cables with a 10 mm AWG8 5 mm AWG10 x 2 or more to prevent cable deterioration and damage to the cable coating e To prevent a short circuit never put or leave any metallic objects Such as coins or metal tools inside the unit e f the unit starts to emit smoke or strange smells turn off the power immediately and consult your Kenwood dealer e Do not touch the unit during use because the surface of the unit becomes hot and may cause burns if touched ACAUTION To prevent damage to the machine take the following precautions e Be sure the unit is connected to a 12V DC power supply with a negative ground connection e Do not open the top or bottom covers of the unit e Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat or humidity Also avoid places with too much dust or the possibility of water splashing e When replacing a fuse only use a new one with the prescribed rating Using a fuse with the wrong rating may cause your unit to malfunction e To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse first disconnect the wiring harness NOTE e f you experience problems during installation consult your K

16. fficient English 13 Troubleshooting Guide What might appear to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or miswiring Before calling service first check the following table for possible problems PROBLEM No sound No sound from one side The output level is too POSSIBLE CAUSE e Input or output cables are disconnected e Protection circuit may be activated e The fuse may be blown because the volume was too high SOLUTION e Connect the input or output cables e Check connections by referring to Indicator e Replace the fuse with a new fuse and use a lower volume The input sensitivity adjusting small or too large control is not set to the correct position Adjust the control correctly referring to Controls The sound quality is bad The sound is distorted If the slide panel moves of e The speakers cable are connected with wrong O polarity e A speaker cable is pinched by a screw in the car body e The switches may be set improperly e The system is in DEMO mode e Connect them properly checking the O O of the terminals and cables well e Connect the speaker cable again so that it is not pinched by anything e Set switches properly by referring to System examples e Cancel DEMO mode by pressing its own accord e The slide panel has gone into remote operation mode the OPEN CLOSE button e Check the
