1. Finish operation gt If detergent has been added Suspend detergent suction hose in a container filled with clear water switch the appli ance on for around 1 minute once the spray lance has been removed and rinse until water runs clear Release the lever on the trigger gun Switch the appliance switch to D0 OFF Turn off tap Press the lever on the trigger gun to re lease any remaining pressure in the system 3 Disconnect the appliance from the wa ter supply Detach spray lance from the trigger gun Briefly switch the appliance on I ON press the trigger gun lever until no fur ther water is discharged approx 1 min Switch the appliance switch to O OFF Use the safety catch to secure the trig ger gun lever Pull out the mains plug Store the power cord the HP hose and the accessories on the appliance Special accessories Special accessories expand the possibili ties of using your appliance Please contact your K rcher dealer for further information y y y yyy yy yy Detergents To ensure a trouble free operation of the appliance and to match the individual cleaning task we recommend our K rcher detergent and maintenance agents Please ask for our advice or request information on the products Maintenance and care A Risk of injury Always switch offthe appliance and pull out the mains plug before care and mainte nance work Cleaning Prior to longer periods of storage e g in th
2. appropriate accesso ries this high pressure cleaner can draw in surface water e g from water butts or ponds max suction height 0 5 m English 5 3 Use the K rcher water filter to protect the HP pump and accessories special accessories order no 4 730 059 This filter removes dirt from incoming water gt As the standard coupling system is not suitable for use in suction mode the K rcher suction hose with integrated fil ter should be used instead special ac cessory order no 4 440 238 and suspended inside the water butt gt Remove air from appliance before oper ation Switch on the appliance when the HP hose is not connected and run it until the water which discharges from the HP outlet is free of bubbles Switch off ap pliance and connect HP hose Note Fill suction hose with water before use this will help ventilate the pump of air Start up gt Screw HP hose on to HP outlet on appli ance 3 Push the appropriate spray lance on to the trigger gun and fasten it by turning it to the right through 90 Open tap Plug in mains plug Set main switch to I ON Press safety catch on the trigger gun to release it and pull lever yyy y High pressure operation A Risk of injury The trigger gun is subjected to a recoil force when the water jet is discharged Make sure that you have a firm footing and are also holding the trigger gun and spray lance firmly 6 English Spray lance wit

Initial start up When the appliance is delivered the HP hose and trigger gun are not attached this prevents buckling Please mount these be fore using the appliance for the first time 3 Push out the safety clip in the trigger gun using e g a small screwdriver 3 Join HP hose and trigger gun together 3 Push clip in until it engages and check that itis securely fastened by pulling on the HP hose gt Remove cable tie and unroll HP hose Water supply Water supply from mains For connection values see type plate tech nical data Observe regulations of water supplier 3 Use a fibre reinforced hose not includ ed with a standard coupling Minimum diameter 1 2 inches 13 mm Mini mum length 7 5 m gt Screw the coupling unit supplied to the water connection on the appliance 3 Push the water supply hose onto the coupling unit then connect it to the tap A Caution Never operate the high pressure cleaner when the tap is turned off as dry running will damage the HP pump If the water supply is not clean the Karcher water filter must be used special accessory order No 4 730 059 According to the applicable regula tions the appliance must never be used on the drinking water net without a system separator Use a suitable system separator manufactured by K rcher or as an alternative a system separator as per EN 12729 Type BA Drawing in water from open reservoirs When fitted with the

YKARCHER K 4 86 M K 5 86 M Operating Instructions Before first use of the unit read these operating instructions and act in accordance with them ANGE 5 962 344 0 06 07 ON Dear Customer A LU Please read and comply with these instructions prior to the initial operation of your appliance Retain these operating instructions for future refer ence or for subsequent possessors Proper Use This high pressure cleaner is designed for domestic use only to clean machines vehicles buildings tools facades terraces garden equip ment etc using a high pressure water jet and detergents if required with accessories replacement parts and detergents approved by K rcher Observe the instructions provided with these detergents Environmental protection Ro The packaging material can be recy cled Please do not place the packag ing into the ordinary refuse for disposal but arrange for the proper recycling Y Old appliances contain valuable ma X terials that can be recycled Please arrange for the proper recycling of old appliances Please dispose your old ap pliances using appropriate collection sys tems Warranty The terms of the guarantee applicable in each country have been published by our respective national distributors We will re pair possible faults on your unit
9. e winter gt Remove filter from suction hose for de tergent and clean with running water 3 Pull out filter in water connection using flat nose pliers and clean with running water Maintenance The appliance is maintenance free Frost protection A Risk of frost Protect the appliance and accessories against frost The appliance and its accessories can get destroyed through frost if there are any wa ter residues in them To avoid damage to them 3 Store the appliance and the entire ac cessories in a frost safe room Spare Parts Only use original K rcher spare parts You will find a list of spare parts at the end of this document English 7 Troubleshooting You can rectify minor faults yourself with the help of the following overview If in doubt please consult the authorized customer service A Risk of injury Always switch off the appliance and pull out the mains plug before care and mainte nance work A Warning Repair works may only be performed by the authorized customer service Appliance does not start 3 Check whether the voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the volt age of the socket 3 Check the power cable for damage Pressure does not build up in the appli ance 3 Check the setting at the spray lance 3 Evacuate air from the appliance Switch on the appliance when the HP hose is not connected and allow it to run until the water which discharges from the HP outlet

11. h pressure regulation Carrying out the most common cleaning tasks The work pressure can be stageless ly regulated between Min and Max gt Release the lever on the trigger gun 3 Turn the spray lance to the desired po sition Spray lance with dirt blaster For strong contaminations Operation with detergent Note Detergent can only be added when the ap pliance is being operated in low pressure mode All washing brushes supplied by K rcher are designed for use with detergents 3 Use spray lance with pressure regula tion Vario Power 3 Turn the spray lance to Mix position low pressure DT suction infeed from DT tank 3 During low pressure operation deter gent is automatically drawn in from the filled detergent tank 3 Fill the detergent reservoir with deter gent tablet and water or detergent con centrate and water observe metering recommendations on the packaging la bel of the detergent 3 Dosage happens through the DT meter ing regulator Recommended Cleaning Method 1 Spray a small dose of the detergent on the dry surface and allow it to react make sure the detergent does not dry up 2 Wash off the loosened dirt using the high pressure jet Interrupting operation Release the lever on the trigger gun During breaks use the safety catch to secure the trigger gun lever 3 During longer breaks more than 5 min utes also turn the appliance off using the ON OFF switch y y
12. is a discolouration of the tyre Dam aged vehicle tyres tyre valves are highly dangerous Ensure that a distance of at least 30 cm is observed when cleaning with the jet m Never draw in fluids containing solvents or undiluted acids and solvents This in cludes petrol paint thinner and heating oil The spray mist thus generated is highly inflammable explosive and poi English 3 sonous Do not use acetone undiluted acids and solvents as they are aggres sive towards the materials from which the appliance is made A Warning m Unsuitable extension cables can be hazardous Only use extension cables outdoors which have been approved for this purpose and labelled with a suffi cient cable cross section 1 10m 1 5 mm 10 30 m 2 5 mm Check the high pressure hose for dam age before every use Please arrange for the immediate exchange of a dam aged high pressure hose m Do not use the appliance when there are other persons around unless they are also wearing safety gear High pressure hoses fixtures and cou plings are important for the safety ofthe appliance Only use high pressure hos es fixtures and couplings recommend ed by the manufacturer Cleaning operations which produce oily waste water e g engine washes un derbody washes may only be carried out using washing stations equipped with an oil separator Note m The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons withou
