1. 5. panes ime is ACTIVE VIDEO CALIBRATION CALIBRATION COMPLETE START END TEU ACTIVE VIDEO CALIBRATION recording calibration takes place for both SP and EP before the first timer recording after inserting the cassette regardless of the tape speed selected for that recording Once the cassette is ejected the calibration data is canceled The next time the cassette is used for recording calibration is re performed e While Active Video Calibration is operative the PAUSE button will not function SUPERIMPOSE must be set to ON or the Active Video Calibration screen will not appear cx pg 28 ATTENTION W As calibration takes place before recording actually starts there is a delay of about 7 seconds after REC and PLAY on the remote or REC on the VCR s front panel are pressed To make sure you record the desired scene or program completely first perform the following steps 1 Press and hold PAUSE and press REC to engage the RECORD PAUSE mode The VCR then automatically checks the condition of the tape and after about 7 seconds re enters RECORD PAUSE 2 Press PLAY to start recording W If you want to bypass Active Video Calibration and start recording right away set RECORDING to OFF in step 4 of the Preparation procedure t pg 34 36 en AND RECORDING FEATURES cont One Program While Recording Watching

NOTES e If the tape being played back has no Hi Fi soundtrack the Normal soundtrack will be heard no matter what choice you make at the Audio Monitor screen If RF connection is used for TV even if Hi Fi audio monitor is selected the sound will be mono and will be reproduced in both loudspeakers Index Search Index codes are placed on the tape at the start of each recording You can find and automatically play back from the start of any recording using the Index Search function START SEARCH 1 While the tape is stopped press SHUTTLE PLUS ka a or gt ACCESS DISTANT CODE 2 To access a recording 2 9 index codes away press SHUTTLE PLUS 4 4 gt gt repeatedly until the correct number is displayed on screen only if SUPER IMPOSE is set to ON pg 28 Playback begins automatically when the desired recording is located f necessary press REW or FF when play starts to search visually to find the very beginning of the desired program NOTE An index code is not placed on the tape when recording is paused and then resumed 3 C CO Instant ReView At the press of a button you can power up your VCR rewind the tape and begin viewing the most recent timer recorded program ACTIVATE INSTANT REVIEW 1 After ensuring that the Timer mode is disengaged press REVIEW The pow

Turn on the TV and select the VCR channel 3 or 4 or AV mode The VCR s power comes on automatically ACCESS VCR PLUS SCREEN Press MENU on the remote control R_PLUS The clock must be set in ZN order to access the VCR Plus screen If you haven t set the clock the Main Menu screen PRESS NUMBER KEY 0 9 appears when you press MENU TO MAIN MENU MENU Refer to page 7 for the Plug amp Play procedure or page 9 for the clock setting procedure ENTER PLUSCODE NUMBER Press the appropriate NUMBER keys to enter the PlusCode number printed in the TV listings for the TV program you wish to record To make corrections press CANCEL and input the correct PlusCode number e If the PlusCode number you input is incorrect ERROR may appear on the screen to advise you of the error This happens when the PlusCode number is for a program which has already passed ERROR is displayed for about 4 seconds and the VCR Plus screen reappears step 2 CHECK INPUT DATA Press OK and the Program PROGRAM 1 screen appears VCR PLUS 12345678 The PlusCode number you DATE 12 24 WED entered appears in the SIART m i Program screen Check to CHANNEL 40 SP make sure it s accurate PRESS 8 DAILY 9 WEEKLY SP EP REC SPEED PRESS MENU TO END To timer record daily or weekly

17. non receivable channels During auto channel set the channel numbers are displayed as they are scanned and set When Plug amp Play has been completed successfully the correct time is displayed if AUTO CLOCK SET or SEMI AUTO CLOCK SET is selected at the Override Auto Clock Set screen on page 10 the clock will be adjusted automatically by the Host PBS every hour on the hour except for 11 00 PM midnight 1 00 AM and 2 00 AM by the incoming PBS channel clock setting data This automatic clock adjustment can only be performed when the VCR s power is turned off The clock will be adjusted on the hour based on the time displayed on the VCR not on the actual real time The default setting is AUTO CLOCK SET If an incorrect time is displayed on the front display panel you may be receiving the clock setting data of a PBS channel from an adjacent time zone or an incorrect PBS channel from a cable TV system In this case perform the Semi Auto pg 10 or Manual Clock Set F pg 11 procedure Auto channel set has already taken place and it need not be set again If appears on the display your antenna cable may not be connected to the VCR there may not be a Host PBS signal available in your area or your cable box may not be set to the PBS channel Ensure that the antenna cable is connected correctly If you use a cable box ensure that your local PBS is selected on your cable box rx ATTENTION CABLE BOX SUBSCRIBERS

Another Features ENGAGE TV MODE 1 Press TV VCR The VCR s VCR indicator goes out If you are using the RF connection pg 6 to view the output from your VCR the TV broadcast being recorded disappears If you are using the AV connection pg 6 to view the output from your VCR change the TV s input mode from AV to TV SELECT CHANNEL FOR VIEWING 2 Use the TV s channel selector to set the channel you want to watch Display Elapsed Recording Time RESET COUNTER TO ZERO 1 Before recording starts press C RESET The counter resets to zero and displays the exact elapsed time as the tape runs DISPLAY ELAPSED TIME ON SCREEN During recording press OSD at any time to see the elapsed time All indications corresponding to the current status of the VCR are displayed for 5 seconds The counter display remains on the screen indicating the elapsed time Press OSD again to remove the display Make sure SUPERIMPOSE is set to ON 7 pg 28 The indications are not be recorded SS ete EN O 7 Stereo And SAP Second Audio Program Your VCR s built in MTS decoder enables reception of Multi channel TV Sound broadcasts The ST indicator on the front display panel lights during stereo broadcast reception and SAP lights during SAP program reception Both indicators light when a stereo program is accompanied by SAP audio
