1. 28 Getting Started Charge the battery New batteries are shipped partially charged Before you start using your device it is recommended that you install and charge the battery Some batteries perform best after several full charge discharge cycles You can charge the battery in two ways e Charging the device s battery by connecting the power adapter e Connecting your device to a PC via the provided USB Sync cable Note Only the AC adapter and USB cable provided with your device should be used to charge the device Charging is indicated by a solid amber light on the left LED indicator As the battery is being charged while the device s power is on a charging icon f will be shown on the title bar of the Today screen After the battery has been fully charged the left LED becomes green and a full battery icon Hill appears on the Today screen s title bar Warning Do not remove the battery from the device while you are charging it using the AC or car adapter e As a safety precaution the battery stops charging when it overheats Calibrate the device Calibrating the touch screen involves tapping the center of a cross with the stylus as the cross moves around the screen This process ensures that when you tap the screen with your stylus the tapped item is activated If your device does not accurately respond to screen taps follow these steps to re calibrate it 1 Tap Start gt Settings gt System tab gt Screen

Appendix Your device has an internal antenna Use only the supplied integral antenna Use of unauthorized or modified antennas may impair call quality and damage the phone causing loss of performance and SAR levels exceeding the recommended limits as well as result in non compliance with local regulatory requirements in your country To assure optimal phone performance and ensure human exposure to RF energy is within the guidelines set forth in the relevant standards always use your device only in its normal use position Do not touch or hold the antenna area unnecessarily when placing or receiving a phone call Contact with the antenna area may impair call quality and cause your device to operate at a higher power level than needed Avoiding contact with the antenna area when the phone is IN USE optimizes the antenna performance and the battery life Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions specified by the FCC with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level the actual SAR level of the phone while operation can be well below the maximum value This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network In general the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna the lower the power output Before a phone model is available for sal
