1. This cartridge is designed for use in DLT 4000 DLT 7000 and DLT 8000 drives only This cartridge is NOT compatible with DLT1 drives and their derivatives Rear of Cartridge Cartridge Leader Door Catch using a cleaning cartridge with DLT magazine tape subsystems If Use Cleaning Tape light is ON insert the cleaning cartridge into the magazine slot load the magazine and manually select the slot which has the cleaning cartridge Press the Load Unload button The cleaning cartridge will load and cleaning will begin automatically When Use Cleaning Tape light shuts OFF a cleaning cycle is complete To remove the cleaning cartridge from the subsystem press the Eject button remove the magazine from the subsystem and remove the cleaning cartridge from the magazine If the Use Cleaning Tape light remains ON then a cleaning cycle has NOT been done and the cleaning cartridge is expired and must be replaced After each cleaning cartridge use follow the instructions shown on the Front Slide Label DLTtape drives are designed and licensed for exclusive use with tape cartridges sold by licensed suppliers These licensed suppliers are identified by their use of the DLTtape logo Both the tape drive and tape cartridges are covered by U S patent numbers 4 572 460 4 720 913 and 4 662 049 Use of unlicensed tape cartridges with licensed or unlicensed tape drives constitutes infringement in the U S T of these pa
2. f e hp dlt O cleaning cartridge invent C5142A when to use a cleaning cartridge If the Use Cleaning Tape light is ON then the DLT drive s read write head needs cleaning cleaning cartridge storage 20 to 80 To prevent condensation and for long life the cartridge should only be operated or stored as follows storage operation humidity archive storage For longer life of the cleaning cartridge alwa ays s store the cleaning cartridge in its plastic container and in room environment conditions of 73 F 9 F 23 C 5 C 50 10 relative humidity cartridge handling Handle the cartridge carefully The cartridge may be damaged if it is dropped so always check for damage Labels should go only in the front label slot Do not put any labels on the top bottom sides or rear of the cartridge When not in use the cartridge should be stored in its protective plastic container Do not store the cartridge in direct sunlight or near magnetic fields loading and unloading a DLT drive Consult your respective DLT drive user manual to obtain information on loading and unloading DLT cartridges IMPORTANT Make sure the leader position is correct see Figure 1 below if not the cartridge is broken and should be discarded Shake the cartridge gently if you hear a rattling sound discard Broken cartridges can seriously damage your DLT drive and their use should be avoided Fig 1 Correct position of cartridge leader caution
