PV 440 OWNER S MANUAL Ar IMPORTANT A Read this manual completely Look for this A symbol to point before installing or operating your new Mosquito Galaxie PowerVac out important safety precautions General Information Mosquitoes and biting flies use a combination of sensory signals to locate a warm blooded host including heat light scent color shape motion and other by products of human activity Your unit duplicates these sensory signals through the use of solid state electronic technology and through esoteric product design Mosquitoes and other flying insect pests attracted to the device are drawn into the unit by a special airflow where they dehydrate and die A removable see through collection tray provides for fast clean and easy disposal of dead insects Important Safety Instructions Never place fingers or hands or insert any objects into the unit while it is connected to an electrical source Always disconnect the power cord from its electrical source before servicing handling or cleaning the unit Never operate unit with the ultraviolet black light blue bulb removed from its socket Do not abuse the power pack Never carry the power pack by its cord or yank it to dis connect it from a receptacle Keep power cord away from heat oil and sharp edges Never connect the unit to a battery or other D C voltage Such an attempt will damage your unit E

5. mpty collection tray frequently to ensure proper airflow through the tray Do not clean unit with water spray from a hose or the like Unpacking Your Galaxie PowerVac has been carefully packed at the factory to prevent damage during shipment Carefully open the carton and remove its contents Check parts against the carton content list as shown below Save carton and fillers and use them for storing your unit during off season months Carton Contents Description Galaxie PowerVac Anchor Pins Collection Tray Power Pack and Wire MA 1000 Octenol Attractant Cartridge Owners Manual Placement Guide Placement Your Galaxie PowerVac is site specific and placement is critical for successful results To properly locate your unit in your yard read the accompanying booklet the Fine Art of Trapping Mosquitoes and follow its guidelines regarding trap placement Your Mosquito PowerVac emits an octenol enhanced plume of air which mosquitoes and biting flies follow in their search for a blood meal Biting insects fly up wind toward the source of the plume in their attempt to locate a host Since the direction of the plume is dependent upon the direction of the wind your unit should be positioned so it faces downwind Female mosquitoes also feed on moisture laden nectar and fruit juices when not in search of a blood meal They are usually found in shade around flowers trees bushes and other vegetation and adjacent
6. nnel open the hood latch and lift the hood to an upright position a Clean fan blades and area between the fan blades and the surrounding fan housing using the cleaning brush provided The brush is located behind the Octenol well Simply slide the brush out from its stored location When complete place cleaning brush back in its proper storage location See illustration 4 b To clean the funnel remove the collection tray and then Push rear of bottom funnel ring up into the unit s housing until front tabs become disengaged from housing See figure A Boh Tab Pull funnel down and forward releasing rear section of upper funnel surface and remove funnel from unit See figure B Push Up Here Down Remove insect debris from Forward screen surrounding funnel Wash screen with water and shake off excess water before re installing Re install funnel by holding funnel at a slight angle and inserting the front edge of the upper funnel surface inside of Edge Hi i fU units housing See figure C Funnds Surtace Figure D Push funnel upwards and with the rear section of the bottom funnel ring at a slight angle compress funnel until front tabs of bottom funnel ring are up inside of the housing See figure D Close hood secure with latch connect power cord and return the on off switch to the on position Warranty Flowtron warrants your Galaxie PowerVac to be free from defects in
