1. 101969 NOTES 101969 WARRANTY INFORMATION KEEP THIS WARRANTY Model Serial No Date Purchased Always specify model and serial numbers when communicating with the factory We reserve the right to amend these specifications at any time without notice The only warranty applicable is our standard written warranty We make no other warranty expressed or implied LIMITED WARRANTY VENT FREE PROPANE GAS FIREPLACE DESA International warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and components for two 2 years from the date of first purchase provided that the product has been properly installed operated and maintained in accordance with all applicable instructions To make a claim under this warranty the Bill of Sale or cancelled check must be presented This warranty is extended only to the original retail purchaser This warranty covers the cost of part s required to restore this heater to proper operating condition and an allowance for labor when provided by a DESA Authorized Service Center Warranty part s MUST be obtained through authorized dealers of this product and or DESA International who will provide original factory replacement parts Fail

ODS PILOT AND BURNERS e Use a vacuum cleaner or small soft bristled brush to clean LOGS e If you remove logs for cleaning refer to Installing Logs pages 20 and 21 to properly replace logs e Replace log s if broken or chipped dime sized or larger A WARNING fireplace Turn off fireplace and let cool before servicing Only a qualified service person should service and repair A CAUTION Never use a wire needle or similar object to clean ODS pilot This can damage ODS pilot unit OBSERVED PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE REMEDY When ignitor button 1 is pressed there is no spark at ODS pilot 2 Ignitor electrode not con nected to ignitor cable Piezo ignitor nut is loose 1 2 Reconnect ignitor cable Tighten nut holding piezo ignitor to base panel of log set Nut is located behind base panel 3 Ignitor cable pinched or 3 Free ignitor cable if wet pinched by any metal or tubing Keep ignitor cable dry 4 Broken ignitor cable 4 Replace ignitor cable 5 Bad piezo ignitor 5 Replace piezo ignitor 6 Ignitor electrode broken 6 Replace ignitor 7 Ignitor electrode posi 7 Replace ignitor tioned wrong 101969 TROUBLE SHOOTING Continued OBSERVED PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE REMEDY When ignitor button is pressed there is spark at ODS pilot but no ignition 1 Gas supply turned off or manual shutoff valve closed 2 Co

The information on pages 6 through 8 will help you classify your space and provide adequate ventilation Unusually Tight Construction The air that leaks around doors and windows may provide enough fresh air for com bustion and ventilation However in buildings of unusually tight construction you must provide additional fresh air Unusually tight construction is defined as construction where a walls and ceilings exposed to the outside atmosphere have a continu ous water vapor retarder with a rating of one perm or less with open ings gasketed or sealed and b weather stripping has been added on openable windows and doors and c caulking or sealants are applied to areas such as joints around window and door frames between sole plates and floors between wall ceiling joints between wall panels at penetrations for plumbing electrical and gas lines and at other openings If your home meets all of the three criteria above you must provide additional fresh air See Ventilation Air From Outdoors page 8 If your home does not meet all of the three criteria above proceed to page 7 Unconfined Space An unconfined space has a minimum air volume of 50 cubic feet for each 1000 Btu Hr input rating of all appliances in the space cubic feet equals length x width x height of space Include adjoining rooms only if there are doorless passageways or ventilation grills between the rooms If the Btu per 50 cubic feet is less than 1000 Bt

TION A WARNING This fireplace must have fresh air for proper operation If not poor fuel combustion could result Read the following instructions to insure proper fresh air for this and other fuel burning appliances in your home Today s homes are built more energy efficient than ever New materials increased insulation and new construction methods help reduce heat loss in homes Home owners weather strip and caulk around windows and doors to keep the cold air out and the warm air in During heating months home owners want their homes as airtight as possible While it is good to make your home energy efficient your home needs to breathe Fresh air must enter your home Fresh air enters the home through and around doors and windows This may provide enough fresh air for combustion and ventilation All fuel burning appliances need fresh air for proper combustion and ventilation Exhaust fans fireplaces clothes dryers and fuel burning appliances draw air from the house to operate You must provide adequate fresh air for these appliances This will insure proper venting of vented fuel burning appliances PROVIDING ADEQUATE VENTILATION The following are excerpts from the National Fuel Gas Code NFPA 54 ANSI 2223 1 Section 5 3 Air for Combustion and Ventilation All spaces in homes fall into one of the three following ventilation classifications 1 Unusually Tight Construction 2 Unconfined Space 3 Confined Space
