7. a motor or other electric device that generates strong magnetic fields e Keep disks away from dust and dirt e Never leave a disk in direct sunlight or in places that become extremely hot or humid such as in car or near the window e Never bend a disk e Avoid dropping a disk or subjecting it to strong vibration or shocks Inserting and Removing the Video Floppy Disk 1 Slide the EJECT lever on the camera to open the disk cover Fig 1 2 Insert the video floppy disk as shown Note the arrow on the disk it indicates the direction for insertion The disk will not fit in any other way Never force a disk into place Fig 2 3 Close the disk cover securely 4 To remove the disk simply press the EJECT lever and slide it out 11 12 Turning on Your Camera To turn on your camera move the main switch from LOCK to REC for Record The other setting PLAY ERASE you will use later to view your pictures and to erase those you do not need e LOCK L for turning off camera e PLAY ERASE for viewing pictures or erasing them e REC for taking pictures D REC PLAY Display Panel The liquid crystal display panel indicates the information you need for taking pictures viewing them and erasing them Now that you have a freshly charged battery pack in place and have inserted your new video floppy disk you should see the following display The 1 is the video floppy disk track number to be used and the S refers to sin
8. press the shutter button Fig 2 You may stop at any time by pressing the shutter button Erasure requires about 1 5 seconds per picture As soon as the camera starts erasing all pictures you can remove your finger from the shutter button it will continue to erase Appendix Fig 1 Fig 2 To AC outlet Maintenance e Lens Always keep the lens of your still video camera clean Before shooting wipe it carefully with a lens cleaning cloth e Video Head A dirty video head will lead to a fuzzy screen display or even failure to record Clean the video head with a video head cleaning disk Read the instruction manual for the cleaning disk carefully before use e Condensation Water droplets condensation may form on the camera or disk when it is moved from a cold to a very warm place To prevent condensation carry the camera and disks in a plastic bag and let them warm up before taking them out If condensation should form remove the disk from the camera and let them dry for several hours e Recharging the main battery Insert the battery pack into the Battery Charger when the Low Battery indicator is shown on your camera s display 1 Plug in the Battery Charger The red power indicator lights up Fig 1 2 Slide the battery pack into the Battery Charger Fig 2 The red charging indicator lights during charging and goes out when charging is completed Charging takes 3 5 hours 3 For details refer to the Bat

13. ecords pictures on a floppy disk instead of film Take the disk out of its clear plastic case What you are holding is a flexible magnetic disk inside a plastic cover The dustproof shutter slides back when the disk is in the camera to permit recording viewing and erasing images This two inch floppy disk conforms to the worldwide standard for video floppy disks It has 50 recording tracks numbered 1 to 50 your still video camera will record one picture in each track Pictures recorded on the disk can be erased and the disk used again and again The images you want to keep are safe from accidental erasure however after taking pictures just snap off the erasure prevention tab Then the pictures cannot be erased No pictures can be recorded on a disk that lacks an erasure prevention tab If you later decide to record other pictures on the disk you must replace the tab by covering the tab area with the seal provided with your disk or with a thin strip of cellophane tape Precautions Unlike film floppy disks are not light sensitive Since they are magnetic media however they do require some care in handling e Always store the disk in its clear case when not in use e Never leave a disk in the camera when you are not planning to use the camera for some time e f the dustproof shutter opens accidentally close it immediately Never touch the disk inside you will damage it and lose your pictures e Never place a video floppy disk near

17. ing charged The shutter will not release until the light remains continuously lit Shooting Backlit Subjects A subject that is strongly lit from behind backlit will be dark when photographed Some one standing in front of a bright window for instance or a subject with the sun behind it will appear shadowed no matter how bright they actually are To undo the effects of the backlighting press the EXPOSURE COMPENSATION ALL ERASE button while you hold the shutter button down Fig 3 The camera applies a 1 5 step compensation to adjust the exposure and give you the picture you want Bee TO ren CREW FWD gt Rn WR jur z Advanced Still Video Photography Now that you have mastered the basics move on to the advanced features your still video camera offers Self timer Shooting 1 To put yourself in a picture first press the MODE ERASE button until the self timer symbol appears on the display panel Fig 1 2 Then compose the picture as usual and press the shutter button completely Fig 2 3 The red self timer indicator blinks for about 10 seconds before the picture is taken It starts blinking slowly then speeds up 2 seconds before the shutter releases Fig 3 e To cancel the self timer before the 10 seconds are over set the main switch to LOCK or press the MODE ERASE button Use of a tripod is recommended To attach a tripod to the camera use the Tripod Adapter Attaching the Tripod Adap
