7. 4 Press Print Quality O Press Start The machine begins printing the Print Quality Check Sheet Check the quality of the four color blocks on the sheet The screen asks you if the print quality is OK Do one of the following E f all lines are clear and visible press Yes to finish the Print Quality check and go to step E f you can see missing short lines as shown below press No OK Poor The screen asks you if the print quality is OK for black and then the three colors Press Yes or No The screen asks you if you want to start cleaning Press Yes The machine starts cleaning the print head After the cleaning procedure is finished press Start The machine starts printing the Print Quality Check Sheet again and then return to step D Press Stop Exit If you repeat this procedure at least five times and the print quality is still poor replace the ink cartridge for the clogged color After replacing the ink cartridge check the print quality If the problem still exists repeat the cleaning and test print procedures at least five times for the new ink cartridge If ink is still missing call Brother Customer Service See Brother numbers gt gt page i IMPORTANT DO NOT touch the print head Touching the print head may cause permanent damage and may void the print head s warranty When a print head After the print nozzle is clogged head nozzle is the printed clea

CNG Tone If Easy Receive is set to On your machine is more sensitive to sounds It may mistakenly interpret certain voices or music on the line as a fax machine calling and respond with fax receiving tones Deactivate the machine by pressing Stop Exit Try avoiding this problem by turning Easy Receive to Off See Easy Receive gt gt page 35 Sending a fax call to the machine If you answered on an extension telephone press your Fax Receive Code the factory setting is x 5 1 If you answered on the external telephone connected to the EXT jack press Start to receive the fax When your machine answers hang up 89 Handling Incoming Calls continued Difficulty Suggestions Custom features on a single line If you have Call Waiting Call Waiting Caller ID Voice Mail an alarm system or other custom feature on a single telephone line with your machine it may create a problem sending or receiving faxes For example If you subscribe to Call Waiting or some other custom service and its signal comes through the line while your machine is sending or receiving a fax the signal can temporarily interrupt or disrupt the faxes Brother s ECM Error Correction Mode feature should help overcome this problem This condition is related to the telephone system industry and is common to all devices that send and receive information on a single shared line with custom features If avoiding a slight in
