Bulletin No TCH 008 000 Page 2of 2 8 Remove any exhaust silencers or the exhaust check valve from the base of the air dryer Using a two 2 inch socket loosen the purge valve assembly and allow any trapped air to escape Slowly unscrew the purge valve and remove it 9 When working in the engine compartment the engine should be shut off Where circumstances require that the engine be in operation EXTREME CAUTION should be used to prevent personal injury resulting from contact with moving rotating leaking heated or electrically charged components 10 Never connect or disconnect a hose or line containing pressure it may whip Never remove a component or plug unless you are certain all system pressure has been depleted 11 Never exceed recommended pressures and always wear safety glasses 12 Do not attempt to install remove disassemble or assemble a component until you have read and thoroughly understand the recommended procedures Use only the proper tools and observe all precautions pertaining to use of those tools 13 Use only genuine Bendix replacement parts components and kits Replacement hardware tubing hose fittings etc should be of equivalent size type and strength as original equipment and be designed specifically for such applications and systems 14 Components with stripped threads or damaged parts should be replaced rather than repaired Repairs requiring machining or welding should not be at tempted un

Bendi Technical Bulletin Bulletin No TCH 008 000 Effective Date 09 10 1999 Cancels N A Page 1 of 2 Subject AD 2 AIR DRYER SERVICING Caution Before servicing an AD 2 Air Dryer on a vehicle or before removing an AD 2 Air Dryer from a vehicle the following procedure must be followed Failure to so may allow air pressure to be trapped in the upper body of the air dryer and could result in personal injury during servicing Please note the following changes indicated by bold type in the general precaution notes for AD 2 Air Dryers Delivery Port Delivery Port Check Valve Safety Valve Control Port Exhaust Purge Valve Assembly met AD 2 Air Dryer 1 Park the vehicle on a level surface apply the parking brake and always block the wheels 2 Run the engine until the air dryer discharges then turn the engine off 3 Ifthe vehicle is equipped with air brakes make certain to drain the air pressure from all reservoirs before beginning ANY work on the vehicle 4 Following the vehicle manufacturer s recommended procedures deactivate the electrical system in a manner that removes all electrical power from the vehicle 5 Disconnect the heater wire from the end cover 6 Disconnect the contro line from the control port of the air dryer 7 Remove the delivery port fitting to allow the trapped air to escape to atmosphere Loosen the delivery check valve to relieve any air trapped above the desiccant cartridge assembly
