3. support the center channel press to engage Phantom operation the button will be lit In this mode the unit will operate without the center channel speaker and the informa tion will be diverted to the Left and Rightspeaker Only the Left Right and Surround channels will be active Level Indicators This dual purpose display indicates the input levels for the Surround Left Center and Right channels as well as the respective volume settings SUBWOOFER LEVEL SLBWOOFEA JH 150Hz GO Input Level This controls the input levels of all four channels Normally setin the 120 clock to 3 o clock position the level should be adjusted so that at least one of the top row of Level Indicator LED s are briefly lit during maximum sound passages i Rear When first pressed the Level Indicators will display the volume settings When pressed again or held for 3 to 4 seconds the actual volume level will change This control raises and lowers the volume of the rear Surround channel Press the top of the control to raise the volume of the rear channel Press bottom of the control io lower the volume of the rear channel 2 Center When first pressed the Level Indicators will display the volume settings When pressed again or held for 3 to 4 seconds the actua volume level will change in steps This control raises and lowers the volume of the Center channel Press the top of the control to raise
4. the volume of the center channel Press bottom of the control to lower the volume of the center channel MODEL 88 TH REAR SPEAKER POWER RENA AP TION GOW 117 VAC 3 Master Volume When first pressed the Level Indicators will display the volume settings When pressed again or held for 3 to 4 seconds the actual volume level will change in steps This control raises and lowers the volume of all the channels Surround Left Center and Right simultaneously Once the four individual volumes are adjusted use this control to raise the volume without disturbing the relative settings Press the top of the control to raise the volume of all the channels Press bottom of the control to lower the volume of all the channels Remote Sensor This receives commands from the remote control LEVEL The LEVEL control is used to adjust the output level of the SUBWOOF jack SUBWOOF the SUBWOOF switch is used to adjust the crossover point of the SUBWOOF jack You may choose either 150 Hz or 80 Hz Refer to your subwoofer Owners Manual for optimum setting Connections Note At the rear of your SS THREE you will find five pairs of jacks LINE IN TAPE OUT TAPE IN LINE OUT FRONT AND SURROUT REAR In addition there is one jack for CENTER and one jack for SUBWOOF MONO All the jacks require cables using standard RCA plugs You will also find apoak terminals for the rear speakers LINEIN The left and right LINE IN jack

6. erberation experienced in a concert hall Dolby Surround Press to attain the Dolby Surround information that is encoded in a videotape a laser disc or Dolby encoded stereo television program The Delay controls may also be used in this mode Delay These buttons determine the time delay between the front and rear surround speakers When the Dolby Surround mode is selected you may choose either a 20 or 30 millisecond delay By increasing the delay you deepen the three dimensional effect When the Matrix or Hall modes are selected the 30 millisecond delay is automatically used Test This feature allows all speaker levels to be quickly and accurately adjusted for perfect sound balance Press to engage the unit s pink noise generator The unit will sequentially send a signal from each of the four channels Left Center Right Surround Use the vol ume control on your integrated amplifier receiver and the Rear G1 and Center volume controls on the SS THREE to balance the volume levels on all of the channels Once the sound on all four channels is set to an equal volume press the Test button again to disengage the test feature All of the volume levels are now set for the optimal Dolby Surround effect Normal Phantom _ The SS THREE may be used with or without a front center channel speaker Press to switch between Normal operation and Phantom operation If there is no center amplifier and speaker to

10. sor 0000A Introduction Thank you for purchasing the AudioSource SS THREE Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound Processor By spending a few minutes to read the operating instructions carefully you will have years of thrilling realistic viewing and listening pleasure The SS THREE incorporates the advanced circuitry of Dolby Pro Logic decoding This technology allows the usage of a center channel speaker providing pinpoint accuracy for everyone in the viewing area A built in test signal using a tailored pink noise generator enables fast and easy volume settings for each speaker and assures proper adjustment of the system An auto calibration circuit continuously moni tors and adjusts the balance of the source material input for proper decoding Various speaker con figurations including a subwoofer can be used with the SS THREE to maximize performance in any system Controls The remote control may be used to perform functions where this symbol appears Power Press to turn unit on Press again to turn unit off Monitor This button selects the source signal or output of a unit connected to the TAPE IN jacks of the SS THREE Matrix Press to synthesize a stereo sound from a mono source such as mono sound television broadcasts old movies or mono VCR recordings Hall Press when listening to non Dolby encoded stereo material The Hall circuit will create the spacious ness or rev
