1. american WATER HEATER COMPANY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELEMENT ADAPTOR KIT DANGER ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD Turn off the electrical supply to the water heater before removing any access panels or servicing the water heater Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage personal injury or death Drain the tank by following the water heater manufacturer s instructions Remove front access cover plate s and insulation Remove plastic or cardboard cover s Disconnect wire from element s Remove element s by turning bolts to the left counterclockwise Determine gasket style Use only one gasket per heating element Place flat flange gasket OR 3 8 O ring gasket whichever applies behind Adapt A Flange 8 Add thermostat bracket and bolt securely to tank flange NOORON 9 Place thin O ring gasket over threads of the screw type heating element unitl gasket rest against back of screw plug Be certain that gasket is not pinched or crimped 10 Screw element into Adapt A Flange Note Special screw element wrenches are available 11 Follow supplied with element kit 12 Connect wires to element s 13 Replace removed plastic or cardboard cover s front access cover plate s and insulation ea enn manufacturer s instructions fill tank and system with water and check eaks NOTICE Before turning on the electrical supply be certain that tank is full of water Applying electr
