Waiting O Next Lt O Select Detecting Disk Waiting O Next 4 O Select Active Menu O Next O Select 4 Bay Simple amp Efficient Hardware RAID 5 Desktop Storage Quick start guide Format Volume for Mac OS Please refer to your computer s documentation for detailed information on formatting amp preparing volumes for use To format the drive for Mac OS X Go to the Applications folder on your system hard drive Open the Utilities folder Double click on the Disk Utility Program Find the drive in the left hand window and select the drive Click on the Partition tab Under Volume Scheme select 1 Partition Type a name for the drive in the box provided Select Mac OS extended under the format options Click on Partition in the Partition dialog box 0 The drive will be formatted and mounted on the desktop NOTE If you wish to use the drive on PC and Mac systems we recommend leaving the drive formatted as Mac OS Extended and installing a program such as MacDrive www mediafour com on the PC systems so that PC read and work with the Mac OS Extended format 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 Format Volume for Windows XP Vista To format the drive for Windows XP Click on Control Panel Performance amp Maintenance Administrative Tools Click on the Computer Management
3. icon Click on the Disk Management Icon Right click on the new drive s icon in the right hand window Select the Format option click yes in warning window Type a name for the drive under volume label Select perform quick format option Click OK in format warning box The drive will be formatted and available in My Computer amp Windows Explorer WANA UNKRWN gt ENHANCE TECHNOLOGY E400 FR Quick start guide Troubleshooting This section covers some common support questions If you are experiencing an urgent issue please contact your dealer or visit us online at www enhance tech com Connection Problems Always double check for loose cable connections or improperly seated disks if you experience problems where a disk or volume does not appear in your computer or you recieve an error message stating a disk missing when you have the drives configured as a RAID set 1 Disconnect the data cables and reconnect the cable ensureing the connector is inserted securely in your E400 FR 2 Make sure the connector is properly secured on your FireWire port 3 Check your E400 FR s drive presence LEDs located on the front panel of your array if the LEDs are not lit power down your E400 FR remove the disk and reinsert the disk module After re inserting the the disk power on your E400 FR If the problem persists please contact your dealer or contact Enhance Tech Support department at 562 777 3488 2 Trou

9. bleshooting Cont d This section covers some common support questions If you are experiencing an urgent issue please contact your dealer or visit us online at www enhance tech com Disk Capacity Problems Your E400 FR features a next generation Oxford FireWire chipset This chipset offers support for hard disk capacities up to 2 0TB per disk However due to the OS 2TB limitation Mac OS 10 4 and Windows XP 32 bit do not support capacity over 2 0TB 4 Bay Simple amp Efficient Hardware RAID 5 Desktop Storage ENHANCE TECHNOLOGY Two 2 Year Limited Warranty WARRANTY COVERAGE Enhance Technology s warranty obligations are limited to the terms set forth below Enhance Technology as defined below warrants this Enhance Technology branded hardware product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of TWO 2 YEARS from the date of retail purchase by the original end user purchaser Warranty Period If a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period at its option Enhance Technology will either 1 repair the hardware defect at no charge using new or refurbished replacement parts or 2 exchange the product with a product that is new or w hich has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product Enhance Technology may request that you replace defective parts with new or refurbished user installable parts
