3. sary to swill out with tapwater and empty the generator tank after every 3 or 4 uses In hard water areas we recommend the use of KALSTOP a special natural base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale making it easy to remove just by swilling out the tank with a little tapwater This is a preventive against lime scale build up and protects the metal walls of the steam generator tank KALSTOP is availa ble from Polti dealers or by mail order from your Polti Service Centre Do not try to unscrew the safety cap or empty the appliance whilst water in the boi ler is still hot Do not refill the boiler while it is still hot Al low it to cool for a good few minutes before refilling Do not open the safety cap while the apl liance is ON When REFILLING the generator boiler use HOT not cold water Pour in gradually and gently at first and keep your face and other exposed skin well away Otherwise the still hot boiler walls may spit drops of very hot water or steam spray Make sure the patented safety cap is fully and correctly screwed on otherwise you may experience steam escaping from around the cap Check periodically the safety cap and MAKE SURE the rubber gasket is in place around the base of the screw thread Replace with original spare parts if neces sary DO NOT USE STEAM FUNCTION if the rubber gasket is not in position If you iron sitting down do not place your legs under the ironing board the steam can c
4. to follow certain procedures when re filling the tank When you have used up all the water in the tank do as follows 1d Switch the Illuminated generator switch 2 off Press the steam request button on the iron 10 so as to fully exhaust the steam supply from the tank Switch the Illuminated iron switch 3 off Disconnect the power supply cable from the mains Unscrew anti clockwise the patented safety cap 1 Wait for a few minutes to allow the genera tor tank to cool down When the tank is cool proceed to carefully refill the tank as described in paragraph 1a of the section PREPARATION FOR USE If refilling the generator when not completely cooled we recommend that you carefully pour gradually only very small quantities of HOT not cold water at each pouring into the tank so as to avoid spitting from the tank and keep exposed skin and face well away from the aperture 2d 3d 4d 5d 6d Td CARE OF YOUR VAPORELLA e Before attempting any maintenance operation make sure to always discon nect the appliance from the mains e To clean the body of the appliance simply use a moist cloth Do not use solvents or detergents which may harm the body ma terial NOTE 31

10. e direction Turning the control in a clockwise direction reduces the steam flow fig 5 The appliance is equipped with a rigid iron rest mat 11 fig 6 which can be removed and put elsewhere if required NOTE e The steam pressure indicator 5 may go on and off from time to time during use of Va porella This means the machine maintains the correct and constant pressure and is quite normal e If no steam is released from the iron check the steam pressure indicator 5 is OFF there is water in the boiler and the steam reg ulation knob 6 is set to one of the Steam settings Ab 5b TEFLON UNDERPLATE 14 Optional USE The Polti teflon underplate makes it possible to iron fabrics that usually tend to become shiny when ironed The underplate can also be used with all other fabrics ASSEMBLING ATTENTION assemble the underplate only when the iron is cold Make sure that the spring is in external position as in fig 7 and fit the un derplate making the points match correctly fig 8 Pull the spring towards the back of the iron until it reaches the entry point for the cable as shown in fig 9 30 PATENTED SAFETY CAP WATER OUT This appliance is equipped with the unique Polti patented safety cap which prevents opening of the generator tank as long as there is any pres sure remaining inside the tank This is an impor tant and indispensable safety device and it is necessary
