NO SERVICE on my phone POSSIBLE REASONS SOLUTION You may be outside the Nextel Check the signal strength indicator coverage area on your phone SYMPTOM My computer dials but cannot connect POSSIBLE REASONS SOLUTION The software is set up fora modem Configure your software for your other than your Nextel phone Nextel phone as the modem You are dialing the wrong number Check the number including the area code Verify the number with your Internet Service Provider or corporate network support The number you are dialing is long Check the area code of the number distance you are dialing You may need to add a 1 for long distance The modem you are calling is out Contact your ISP or office network of service support to verify the status of their server and modems You have left the Nextel coverage Raise the phone antenna and area check the signal strength indicator If needed return to the coverage area to call Your user name and or password Enter the correct information are incorrect SYMPTOM My phone shows that the call connected but my communications software does not POSSIBLE REASONS SOLUTION The call took too long to connect Increase your software s time out and the software timed out interval and try calling again nextel com SYMPTOM My communications software shows that the call is connected but my phone does not POSSIBLE REASONS SOLUTION Your call wa

Nextel Online Dial Up Service User s Guide For Use with the Digital Phone Card and Windows Powered Pocket PCs 5 01 Limited Warranty The Digital Phone Card is manufactured by Socket Communications Inc for distribution by Nextel Communications This limited warranty is not part of the Limited Warranty covered by Motorola manufactured iDEN Communication Products This Limited Warranty applies only to the Digital Phone Card Product that is offered solely by Socket Communications Inc What This Warranty Covers and for How Long Socket Communications Incorporated Socket warrants the Product against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for the following periods from the date of purchase CompactFlash card and non removable cable 1 year Incompatibility is not a defect covered by Socket s warranty During the warranty period Socket will replace the defective Product at no charge when furnished with proof of retail purchase provided that you ship the product to an authorized warranty service location How to Get Warranty Service You must provide proof of retail purchase in order to receive warranty service and also ship the defective product in the original container or equivalent with shipping charges prepaid to an authorized warranty service location Warranty service will be provided by SOCKET If you first contact the company that sold you the Product e g dealer or communication servic

8. ated Chapter 5 Baud Rate Settings The baud rate setting is the rate at which data is transferred between two communicating devices For optimum performance your phone was set to Auto at the factory The Autobaud setting automatically detects the baud rate setting of the connection between the computer and the phone and will select the fastest usable baud rate NOTE In some cases you may want to change the baud rate settings on your phone If the phone is not set to Autobaud the phone s baud rate setting must match the software application s modem baud rate setting Set your phone and the software to the same fixed Baud Rate from among the following settings 300 1200 2400 4800 9600 19200 38400 57600 115200bps Viewing Changing Your Phone s Baud Rate 1 wk wWN Press the star key then the pound key on your phone s keypad The Programming Menu screen displays Press the six key then the zero key The Set Baud Rate screen displays Press the option key under OK The Baud Rate screen displays Use the scroll keys to scroll through the available baud rates Select the desired rate then press the option key under OK NOTE If the settings on the phone do not match the modem baud rate setting on the active software application the phone will not respond Press the option key under Exit when finished nextel com Appendix A Specifications Physical Characteristics CF Card Size 1 43 x 1 69 x 0 13 in 36 4 x 42 8 x 3

10. depicted in this guide may appear different from the keys on your phone nextel com Getting Started Installing the Software If you have an HP Jornada 540 545 or 548 Pocket PC the software drivers for the DPC are already installed No software installation is needed For any other Pocket PC follow these steps BEFORE inserting the DPC into your Pocket PC 1 Establish an active connection between your Pocket PC and a host PC Use your Pocket PC s serial connection cable 2 Insert the DPC Installation CD into the CD drive of your host PC Click Start Run on your host PC type DASETUP use your CD drive letter and follow the instructions on your host PC 3 When installation is complete reset your Pocket PC Connecting the DPC to your Pocket PC and Nextel Phone 1 Use the DPC in the CompactFlash I O slot of your Pocket PC Plug the DPC directly into the slot 2 After inserting the Digital Phone Card into your Pocket PC connect the free end of the data cable to the data cable accessory connector on the bottom of your Nextel phone Removing the Digital Phone Card Remove the DPC by gripping the black plastic connector that protrudes from the card and pulling outwards DO NOT pull the cable Pull the black connector that protrudes from the card DO NOT PULL THE CABLE Chapter 3 Configuring Remote Networking This chapter explains how to configure your Pocket PC for remote networking Set up remote
