A CAUTION e Never attempt to service this machine yourself except as explained in this manual There are no user serviceable parts inside the machine Adjust only those controls that are covered in the operating instructions Improper adjustment could result in personal injury and or damage requiring extensive repair that may not be covered under your Limited Warranty e The fuser unit and its surroundings inside the machine may become hot during use When removing jammed paper or when inspecting the inside of the machine do not touch the fuser unit and its surroundings as doing so may result in burns or electrical shock e When removing jammed paper or replacing the toner cartridge take care not to allow the toner to come into contact with your hands or clothing as this will dirty your hands or clothing If they become dirty wash them immediately with cold water Washing them with warm water will set the toner and make it impossible to remove the toner stains e When removing paper which has become jammed inside the machine remove the jammed paper gently to prevent the toner on the paper from scattering and getting into your eyes or mouth If the toner gets into your eyes or mouth wash them immediately with cold water and immediately consult a physician e When loading paper or removing jammed documents or paper take care not to cut your hands on the edges of the documents or paper e When removing a used toner cartri

Note After correcting problems reset to the default setting OFF OFF The special print mode function is turned off SPECIAL SETTINGS 1 It is not recommended to print on the reverse of paper that has been printed once However if you have to print on both sides of the paper select SPECIAL SETTINGS 1 when printing on the reverse SPECIAL SETTINGS 2 Depending on the operating environment especially the dry environment or the type of paper some smudged marks of spattering toner may appear on print pages In this case select SPECIAL SETTINGS 2 to improve the result Note Do not select SPECIAL SETTINGS 2 when using paper that has been stored at high temperature or high humidity Otherwise the print quality may deteriorate SPECIAL SETTINGS 3 When an image of high color density is printed sometimes the image partially appears on the next page In this case select SPECIAL SETTINGS 3 to improve the result SPECIAL SETTINGS 4 Depending on the operating environment especially the humid environment some images may look spotty or striped when printing black In this case select SPECIAL SETTINGS 4 to improve the result Menu Descriptions Name Descriptions SPECIAL SETTINGS 5 When heavy paper of rough surface is used some images may look patchy due to toner failing to fuse to the paper In this case select SPECIAL SETTINGS 5 to improve the resu
12. not spill water liquids or flammable substances alcohol benzene paint thinner etc inside the machine If these items come into contact with a high voltage area inside the machine it may result in a fire or electrical shock If these items are dropped or spilled inside the machine immediately disconnect the power cord from the power outlet Then contact Canon Authorized Service Facilities or the Canon Customer Care Center A CAUTION e Do not place heavy objects on the machine as they may tip over or fall resulting in personal injury e Disconnect the power cord for safety when the machine will not be used for an extended period of time such as during consecutive holidays e The laser beam can be harmful to human bodies Since radiation emitted inside the product is completely confined within protective housings and external covers the laser beam cannot escape from the machine during any phase of user operation Read the following remarks and instructions for safety e Close the platen glass cover gently to avoid catching your hand Failing to do so may result in personal injury e Do not press down hard on the platen glass cover when using the platen glass to scan a thick book This may damage the platen glass and or result in personal injury e Do not subject the machine to strong physical shock or vibration e Unplug the machine before moving it e Do not lift the machine by any of its attachments e If the machine exhibits a
